I wonder if I should spray my locust trees to kill the larvae?
I'd be inclined to leave them be, it's a borer. It's real difficult getting to borers with insecticides because they bore into the tree where they are hard to reach. I've gone several rounds attempting to eradicate borers and they always come back so until they have designer chemicals out there that truly get to borers and knock them back for longer than a few years, I'm not comfortable repeatedly applying chemicals. To what avail?

From this site I pulled this-

"Older trees are not damaged and younger trees 6 inches in diameter and over are seldom bothered."
