so i am still not happy with the arbor look...it has only been 2 months since installed and of course nothing has covered the arbor.....it will take years...; today i did some creative inventing....especially since i can only keep this vine up for another month or 2 or it will die....it is my star jasmine....as you can see by the photos i sort of cheated using plastic ties to keep the pots up high enuf so that you cant see them from the fence outside.....high enuf so i can sorta see some dang green;
now i am thinking i am going to put fall wreaths on either side of the arbor cause there is nothing else that will last that long and i don't want to buy something for 1 more month...
do you have any other suggestions??
(dont you just hate it when you want immediate gratification and in nature that really doesnt work......)
Suggestions please; arbor HAYLP immediate gratification
I put Zephirine Drouhin roses, about 18" tall, at the base of two espaliers at the end of May. They are now about eight feet tall and very leafy -- ALMOST bushy. No roses as yet as this is their first year, but they sure have covered the required space. They are against a NW wall. If you like roses. I've put in jasmine and jessamine and they just sit there. These took off. Got them from Park's if you're interested.
brig..i think we talked about these b4...member you got yours from parks earlier than i did and yours were bigger....anyway roses are on the menu when i can find them.....i hope to buy some that are already tall that i can add to the arbor.....but that looks like next spring....all i am finding are dinky ones and i already have 2 dinky ones that are not doing great things by my fence....in 10 years can you remind me that i wanted a 'really stuffed ' look(grin)....
I haven't gotten my roses from Chamblee's yet; they're to be shipped Monday. (I can hardly wait...) But you might try their site if you're looking at roses, as right about now is a good time to plant them - www.chambleeroses.com. I honestly don't even know whether they come bareroot. They probably do.
will go have a look....so you know of a rose site that you can get some already grown roses??
You might ask them at Chamblee -- they're pretty nice folks. Is Crosbyton anywhere near Tyler?
no it is in west texas by lubbock....why??
Tyler's where Chamblee Nursery is. Didn't know if it might help if you could go there. But Lubbock's kind of a haul. I had a job interview there once. I could get used to it, but I'll bet you have scorpions from h-e-double-hockey-sticks.
never seen a scorpion here at all....; hmmmm didn't know lumbertons is that close.....that means shipping will be less; will have to go look!!!!
