Debnes and Carla, thank you both for the passion vines. I have a large area and am trying to add everything I can for the butterflies and hummers.
Debnes, I have seeds for butterfly milkweed (asclepias tuberosa) and cassia alata. I'll put you on my list for some of those.
Dallas RU and Plant Swap Oct8th, Trade Lists.
awesome pat!
Mitch, I'll take em!
Thanks y'all!
Great - I might have a baby one here.. if it makes it for you too.
Hey Mitch, I'll take a few of those Antelope Horns seeds if you have enough.
Debnes, I know you really want that Rue but I'm gonna stress again that you are probably going to have to go to Redenta's to find any. I got another nice 4" one this week for $3. It's not a common garden plant for most. It doesn't root easily and I've never had any come up from seed. Most of mine never reseeds but I have thrown some out before and they never grew. It's much easier to just grow fennel or dill for the BST's, but you do have to have Rue for the GST's.
Paige I will give it my best shot, I am not sure untill I find my seeds how many I have from the plant.
Paige,
Please don't give it another thought unless you fall into way more than you can use, lol. I like to cut up a bit...
Really I will have to make a trip to Redentas and they will fix me up with the Rue.. No telling how many I will buy when I finally make it out there. I keep getting GST's passing by, and only got one blurry pic.. I have a feeling next year they are gonna want to hang out here. I am patient til then.
Thanks a bunch
Debnes
Carla I have only had the MFV about two months. I bought it in a gallon pot and it was about three feet tall. I put it in the ground with the sticks still in it. I just looked at the book I ordered it from and it says it is "root Hardy".whatever that mean. I just assumed because it came off a Texas tree farm that it is hardy. You dont think is is?
What should I do?
Sylvia
Josephine, Patricia, Sheila, Mitch & Debbie,
I am crushed to report I won't be able to be at the swap meet. But, I can be in Dallas on Saturday and drop off my cuttings to one of you. I would like to pick up mine as well but that's not absolutely necessary - I'm more concerned with what I've promised out. However, if one of you would be willing to take mine for me, I can always make a later trip back to Dallas to pick them up. Would any of you be available that Saturday for me to drop mine? Sorry about the hassle - I am so bummed. Our business trip actually got postponed so I thought I was back in and then an important church function came up and we've recently been asked to be leaders so we can't miss it. God before plants! =)
Yes, I will be available for you to leave your plants with me and I will take them to the swap. You can take the ones from me with you, and I can pick up the others for you.
I was going to suggest this, but wasn't sure if you wanted to make the trip without the group being here. So dmail me and we will get it arranged.
Josephine.
Greenie67,
If I have time before you come down I will get my plants to Josephine for you. I am sorry you won't be able to get with everyone, that is the best part!! But yes, God before plants, we understand.
Sylvia, MFV is hardy to zone 9. Like I said, I bought mine on a whim, intending only to leave it in a container and admire it all summer. But perhaps if we have a mild winter and it's properly mulched, it will come back for you.
Carla
Thank you Josephine and Sheila!! YOu guys are the best which is why I'm so bummed at not getting to meet everyone...except Josephine (yay!!).
Greenie--I'm down in Houston, so maybe spring RU?
Carla thanks for the 411 on the MFV. Maybe I should mulch down there. when Isay down there I mean at the bottom of the wooden fence. Is probaly why I lose so many Clemitis.. One thing is I forget about them too.
Greenie, sorry you will not make it. You are right the lord comes first.
If you can please leave mine with Josephine.
Cuphea ignea
Added: Mexican Bush Sage and Ruellia
Did you want anything from my list..
Ted
Sorry Ted, yes I have your things and will leave them with Josephine. Your cannas look pretty but my MIL has had trouble in the past with them being invasive. What has your experience been with them?
Besides, if you get too many then you can share at the next plant swap!!
Okay, I'll take as many as you would like to spare...thanks! =) How do you think they would look behind a bed of daylilies? I need to move those into their own bed next year. Or would they take them over?
If you put a divider ( metal or plastic edging) between them you should be alright.
Donya, I can mail the irises and daffodils to you for fall planting, and perhaps the agaritas, but I'm afraid the recently rooted salvias would not survive the trip. I live 150 miles from Josephine and won't be going to Arlington until Sunday.
Patricia, Josephine will be picking mine up and keeping them for me until I can get back with her to pick them up. So you don't have to mail anything. Just give everything to her if that's okay.
That will be great!
I got Cannas to share too.. nine flavores! I will bring with me. :)
I am getting rid of all my gold fish. Will try and save some if anyone wants them. Little minnows up to hand size.
why are you getting rid of your fish?
Only the gold fish. Keeping the KOI
They multiply to fast

Debnes, I can bring you Mist flower and Frostweed plants, and Queen annes lace seed, for your Rue and beautyberry.
Josephine.
I have loads of fennel. Swallowtail cats love fennel.
Perfect Josephine,
I will edit my list,
Thanks!
Deb
I have updated my list above also. If I have failed to include something that was promised someone please let me know.
renatelynne,
Please save me a fennel plant, and let me know what you would want from my list.
Sheila
debnes_dfw_tx from seed someone gave me. I have two 1 gal pot with Elegant Dutchmans Pipe Vine. Dont look too great but you can have them.
Thanks Ted! Yes those pipevines, put me down!
Renatelynne :o) your fennel plants, thank you!! save me some!
:oD
I had 4 Mexican Buckeye seeds sprout this weekend. They havent pushed out green yet but should very soon. They are up for grabs. Unfortunately, only 1 Tx Mt Laurel seed sprouted, and I need to keep that one.
Btw... does anyone coming to the Plant Swap want Fresh Rosemary for Cooking? I have to trim a bunch of mine and there is NO way I can use it all even with all the gift packets I make up every year for christmas presents. I can proabably have at least a doz gal ziplock bags full if anyone is interested. They make great presents for others too. They are organic. I don't use pesticides and I only use natural/organic fertilizers.
Patrob, do you have any extra Agarita to give away?
Carla
Carla,
I have lots and lots of agaritas, and I'll dig you one if I can. Getting them out of the ground with enough roots to survive is the problem since the pastures are dry and hard as a rock right now and they love to grow in rocky, caliche soil. I kept hoping we would get some soaking rain this fall, but not yet.
Patricia
Now here is another thread... I have my stuff to two threads so far... I am going to cut and paste to hit them all because I am throughly confused by now. LOL
Here goes:)
I am bringing:
BarBQue (pulled pork)
with the Buns
Cole Slaw
Salsa
Water
Ceramic pieces
Gardening books
Plants I promised and some extrra
All my plants will look ugly, I just potted them up a couple of weeks ago, but they are labled.
Pat your Bears Britchs look really bad, I left the dead leaf on it for ID purposes. LOL
