Coffee and ... for Thursday, August 31st

Good morning to you!

That nice hot coffee is especially appreciated by all of us who are experiencing a touch of Fall.

Okay, I know its not Thursday here yet, but figured I would pop in and say hi before I head to bed.

Its been a real busy couple of days. Yesterday was hectic making sure everything is ready for the kids to begin today, and then today with the students. No real problems today. A couple of our repeat offenders didn't come to school today but I am sure their parents will be dragging them in by Monday.

Suzie, it was wonderful talking to you.. Hope I didn't talk your ear off. I am excited to met you in a couple weeks.

MARIA, I very seldom ever yell, so listen up. REST AND RELAX........ Okay...... All done.
By the way, those loafs looked yummy even if they really shouldn't have existed.

Wow, I had so much more I wanted to say and Whamooo. Its gone. Dang CRS. Well I hope tomorrow brings what you wish for.

Good morning everybody, just walked in the door, DH picked us up from the airport, flight was delayed leaving Dallas, therefore, supposed to get in at 11, got in at 12:30, and by the time we got home it is 1:30. When I left on Saturday morning, had bronchitis, has worsened, got a DR appointment today at 9:00 am. Had an asthma attack last night, and felt yukky the whole time, coughing/wheezing, but still managed to have a fairly good time. Just got looks that said "you don't need to be in public" not contagious, just sounds awful.

Now gonna go back and read until I unwind, and hopefully will be up to speed sometime tomorrow, with all the doings while I have been gone.

Missed you all bunches, and have declared that before the next trip, I WILL have a laptop, and some new luggage, that I can handle by myself.

DH had an accident while I was gone, underwent plastic surgery on Saturday, but is doing well. Will fill you in later today.

|~~~~~~frantically at all, I missed you so much.

Morning everyone. It is 52 deg out here this morning.. We have the house all shut up to keep the heat in..brrr Gardens seem to like the cool air tho - everything looks perky!

Babs- delightful story!! I got my mom one of those books that goes through their lives and they fill in things. There is so much that even I don't know about her!! She told me she was having a hard time writing in it as her childhood was not very nice. When she and her sister get together and talk about things from 'long ago' - I am fascinated. I would like to record them, but neither of them would like that.

Maria - glad to hear that you are recovering- when my vaccum quits, I will get a Dyson too! I am having my kids over for dinner- wish you were here to plan a delicious one for me. I'm outta ideas.

Welcome back defoe- crummy being sick on vacation. Glad you're visiting the doc . Now tell us what in the world happened to DH? I approve of you getting new luggage and a laptop- do I hear a shopping trip coming up??

DIL and I are going to Sam's do print some pics. I have 100's to do...I just got a notice that Sam's fee is going up-rats....

Chores for today are to get those darn two last plants in the ground. I found one pitiful plug from the last co-op dug up and laying bottom side up - cat.....

I have some fresh bagels/cream cheese on the counter (they are garlic/onion - just a warning for those who have to go out in public!!)

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Babs wonderful stories and picture of your parents. Use to love hearing my DD tell his stories. Growing up in the country, hunting, and he had polio when he was about 7. His sisters taught him to embroider. He loved that we lived in the country. Came to visit lots. Wish I had grown up with him.

Maria We watch the Closer. It's a great show. I just wish they made more shows in a season like they use to. 12 eposiodes just aren't enough.

hope what are you up to today? Cuddling kitties?

Sarv it's cool here also. I haven't checked the temp yet. The sun hasn't peeked over the trees. It's going to be a gorgeous day out.

defoecat good luck at the drs. Sorry you weren't feeling good while you were visiting.

Hi to everybody else.

Picked up all the apples last night so Dh can haul them out for the deer. Looked out the window and there's about 30 more lying out there. Yes I did count them. Had to see how many feel over night. I'll keep them picked up now.

He even brought home a tote[about 30 gal.] from one of the guys at work. They are sweeter and crisper then mine. I'll have to see if I can find out what they are. He must think there's not enough for us and the deer. I might be to tired of apples to eat any this winter. Found some good recipes on cooks.com to try. Maybe I can squeeze a bit of baking in today. Apple muffins sound good.

Have to go and throw in a load of laundry. Have to get things cleaned up for company.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Babs, loved the photo... your mother has such a sweet smile.

One of my favorite things to do for an occasion like a 50th anniversary party is to take an old photo of the couple when they were young, and scan it in. Then put type over the top saying the names and dates and have Kinko's print it out in poster size. Dry mount it for the party and have all the guests sign it before framing it. I've done several and they are always a big hit.

I need to go start the sponge for my bread.

~~~~~~ to everyone, BBL
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Bagel and cream cheese sounds perfect Sarv, people wouldn't notice garlic on me, I probably smell like garlic most of the time. Yes, I am enjoying these cool mornings too, and getting fresh air into the house. Which reminds me, I should run the clean cycle on the oven before winter surprises us. DS should arrive sometime around noon if she got up and got an early start. I was hoping my peaches would be ripe enough for me to get the jam done this morning, but no such luck. They smell wonderful though.
Maria, don't worry about assembling the Dyson, I did it without using the instructions, because I hate the way they write them, too. Just give me a picture of the item, with the parts shown where they fit and I'm fine. Start telling me to place the hoojiggy into the slot for the dingalong, and tighten it with the hoobobble, and I'm sunk. Actually, it goes together pretty easy. I had more trouble figuring out how the handle part extends out to give you a longer reach but I managed it finally. The long handle is actually in two parts and the rigid pipe fits inside the expanding accordian type tube, and you just pull it out when you need to extend it. Call me if you have a problem....just don't do it until you feel much much better. Also to empty the dust container, be sure to place the bottom end down in the waste container because the contents fall out with a big plop, and dust will spread. The whole bottom of the thing is hinged, and when you pull the trigger, Poooof! out it comes.
Carat, just think, in less than 6 months you won't be facing those kids anymore, you'll be settling in to your new home!! Just the thought of that should make any upcoming stress easier to handle. No.......wait.......you still have to pack up the existing household........guess it's kind of a trade off!!
Bonnie, I hope the Dr. visit gets you some relief. What happened to DH? We need details...but you can wait until you feel better....
Babs, that was a great picture. Too bad we don't wear hats anymore!! My stepmother was only 4' 10" and my dad was 6' 3", I was taller than her by the 8th grade. And people really got their milage out of clothes back then, most women had only one "good" outfit that was for all occasions. I had a very hard time getting her to buy clothing as she aged, she always said things were "good enough" until they were in tatters. The years right after the war were tough, all right. Housing was scarce, all the GIs coming home needed places for their families, many wives and children spent the war years living with parents or doubling up with other families to make ends meet. Cars were expensive, and manufacturing hadn't caught up. My dad was driving a Model T, in 1946, a new car was out of the question. My DD keeps telling me I should write about those days because there aren't many people who can remember the day to day living back then. This inspired me to take out my old album and scan some of the pictures. This was 1940 probably in Saxon, or maybe in Superior, WI, when my dad was working at the shipyards. I was five....I'm the teletubby in the middle.
Off to toast a bagel, stare at the peaches again, take a shower and do a last minute pickup, can't remember a darn thing about yesterday's thread....Hope Ann is having a great trip.
~~~~~~~ see ya later if DS lets me get on the computer, she hates it.

It's 49 degrees right now. sunny low humidity

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. It was cold here this morning, about 37 or 38. When I looked at the weather report for town it said 33 down there in the valley. We have the advantage of living on a hill so the colder air doesn't settle here. The sun is out and so it will warm up soon and will get to about 70. Over the weekend it is supposed to be up into the 80's again so maybe the nights in the near future will be warmer. I had windows open overnight and the house is cold this morning. I had to warm up the number pad on the microwave to get it to work. Just holding a hand over it for a minute does it, and then it will only let me enter one number. I run it for a few seconds, do it again, until it warms up. Nobody else I ever mentioned it to has had that problem.

Babs, I'm glad your Mum is feeling good, every day is precious. Thanks for posting that delightful wedding day picture, they were a delightful looking couple. Your Mum looks tiny even with the heels and hairdoo. Back then having a picture taken was such a big important event and most people hadn't thought about smiling. Now we all do.

Defoe, welcome back. It would have been more fun if you hadn't been sick. By now you have seen the Doctor and have a bunch of meds to take. Just take it easy now, I know you see things to do everywhere, but some of it can wait and the world won't end.

Maria, I hope you get the new vaccuum together without a problem. And when you do, don't try to clean the whole house at once, you can't spare the energy right now. I would emagine that Samson is enjoying having you somewhat back to normal. I hope your yard worker can get it mowed soon before the weather gets wet. I'm guessing that Ernesto will bring rain to you.

Yesterday I rode Breezy out into the hills for a while, and only saw 2 deer. It is bow hunting season and there were wheeled tracks out there, so the deer have gotten nervous, these 2 saw me a long ways off and didn't want to stay around. When I got back I just barely had enough time to get cleaned up and get to town. Hubby and I had dinner at a local restaurant where they have cooked to order pasta specials, and brought home enough for dinner tonight, so I don't have to cook! Then I did some shopping at the discount store, and wouldn't you know it they have a new shipment of plants. I got a rudbeckia, echaenesia and one of those they call twirling butterflies. I would have liked to have gotten 3 of each, but I'm not even sure where these would go, they are just varieties I wanted so when I saw them I bought some. $2.79 each, gallon size. And then I got some groceries and came home. Maybe I can get more next week. The mums didn't look that good, some of them looked terrible, so I left them there.

Time to go. There is a lot I need to do today. ~~~ to those I missed.

Morning everyone ...
Hi Defoe ... glad you are home safe and sound, but sorry to hear that you've got Bronchitis. I'm glad you're not ignoring it, though and have a doctor's appointment. And yes, please do come back and tell us about your DH when you feel up to it.

sarv, thanks for the bagle and cream cheese. I've always heard y'all have the best ones up that way. :-)

Babs, so good to see you, and glad you're still having some quality time with your Mum. You're such a wonderful daughter to think of doing those things for her ... surrounding her with pictures that are near and dear to her heart.

Maria, you'll have to let me know how you like that vacuum. I've heard a lot about it since joining DG, but have never seen one. I have a rainbow and love it, but sometimes I'd like something easy to jerk out that would do a good job. I got my Rainbow second hand for $350 and when it kicks the bucket, I'll never have the $$ to replace it. I like it better than anything I've ever had for my major cleaning.

ves, sounds like you're drowning in apples? I can remember when we were growing up ... Grandma had apple trees and Mama would make apple sauce. I *hated* that stuff back then. LOL Now what I'd give for a bowl of homemade apple sauce that Mama had made. :-)

Well, gotta get up from here and get something accomplished. Am ~~~ at everyone for now.

In for lunch...just a yogurt today..nothing special....

I started to edge things today and ran out of gas. Now I'll have to wait for DH to come home to fill it up. He is afraid I will use the wrong gas, so I agreed (with my fingers crossed) that I wouldn't fill it myself. Good grief... But it gives me an excuse NOT to finish for awhile...

Continues to be very windy, but sunny here. In the shade you need a coat, but in the sun it is fine.

ves, our apple trees are so heavy with apples. DH never sprayed them, so they aren't any good. We;ve been picking them up all summer. In the fall we have several deer that come feast on them. I keep saying that next year we'll spray, but somehow it never happens.

brrr Mary - you were colder than us. When is your first frost? Almost time to haul out the long johns... I started a ton of my own mums this year - you should try it - so easy and so satisfying in the fall to have free ones!!

Darius- good idea about blowing up the pic. I have a couple of questions tho. How big do you blow it up? 8x10 - bigger?? Do you take your original pic, or scan it at home. I've never done this, but think it would be a perfect gift!! I'd love it!! Does it turn grainey when you blow it up?

Well, noon news is just about over. I need to write my weekly card to MIL's grandma who is dying. She's a real peach and I'll be sad to lose her.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, I scan it in my computer, use some photo editing to take out any age/bad spots, blow it up to at least 18 x 24, put it on a disk and take it to Kinko's. Yes, it gets a little grainey but then a 1940-1950 was grainey. No one seems to care, it's the sentiment that counts.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, I am back from the Dr., got 3 meds, an antibiotic, something to loosen phlem, and cough med, expectorant. Have an ear infection on top of that. I knew my ears were really stopped up from flying, but then when we landed last night, the right one just screamed with pain. So have already taken some, and will just rest this afternoon.

The house was in good shape, but found out DS's GF straightened it, bless her.

The story about DH. He went Saturday to help his DB, (the Bother in Law), house tobacco. If you don't know how to house tobacco, it is cut, put on sticks, and then is hung in a barn to dry (cure). It is big tobacco, and he has not been in a barn for several years. You have to climb up in the barn, and the tobacco is handed up, where you hang it on rails, well, he slipped and fell about 10', landed on some lumber, bruised his right side, hip, ribs, etc, but hit the side of his head against the lumber, and almost cut his ear off. They took him to local hospital, but didn't want to do anything with it, as it was such a jagged cut. He was taken to Louisville, where a plastic surgeon reattached it, and sewed it up. Was cut horzontially about the middle. He will go tomorrow and have the stitches out. This was the first news I had when we landed in Reno.

Please forgive me for not chatting more, but have read everything, didn't retain much, and am going to rest now. BBL with details of our trip.

Defoe, I'm so so sorry to hear about your DH's accident. Also hope you get to feeling better real soon. :-)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ouch, Bonnie... both for you and DH.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the info Darius -I've never scanned anything- have the capabilities, just haven't done it. Is it pricey to get it blown up that size?

Defoe- good grief- DH is lucky he was not killed!! Bet it shook him up! You sure have a boat load of meds to take. Weren't you feeling crummy before you left? Seems like I remember that. You and Maria need to just park your hinney in a chair and read and snooze. What a sweet GF to clean your house...lucky you.

I've been on a cleaning jag again - nothing earth shattering, but half way decent for ME!! I washed all the windows on our lower level and then went out to the barn and used a power vac and did DH workroom and the entry to the barn (where I had thrown all my pots and DH cleaned them up) Let's see if he notices when he goes out there. Then I washed the windows/door in the barn. Ohhh eeeee they were coverred with bug guts and poo....Do they sparkle now. My next job will be to ask DH if he will wire brush the trim on the barn and I will paint it (I hate scraping paint...) I'd like to do it today, but he just came home from work and I know better than to ask him until he takes a little snooze.

So I'll just play a couple of games of scrabble!!

I have been resting most of the day seems every time I try to do something I start to cough.
I did fix some flowers from my garden for all of you and now especially for Bonnie who has joined the sick list, I am sure everyone is going to tell you to resrt as I was told also feel terrible what happenend to your DH, how awful!! Itnever seems to rain but when it pours ans the old saying goes, I am so sorry.

The Dahlias you see are the only ones I have from mores than a dozend plants, thought I bring them in before we get all that rain from Ernesto, it is very cool today, a good thing, if it were hot and humid who knows if he would not decide to visit us.

Hi! Finally got a chance to get in here.

Maria - Glad you are feeling better, but don't overdo it! The flowers are lovely.

Defoe - How rotten to be sick on your trip. Hope the meds help and have you feeling better soon. Good thing you didn't know about DH until your feet were back on the ground. I would have been a wreck.

Had a nice chat with Casey last night. Going out there on the 14th of Sept.

Mary - I'm thankful for the cooler weather, but don't think I'm ready to see the 30's yet.

We are supposed to get the remnants of Ernesto this weekend. Sunday afternoon and Monday should be good though.

I need to look at those Dyson vacs. I have a Kenmore canister vac that has been great, but starting to wear out. i've had it for about 10 years.

I've been really bad (hanging head in shame). I've been ordering lots of bulbs and stuff to plant this fall. I had 3 catalogs that offered $25 on purchases of $50 or more. How could I refuse! I just ordered the minimum from each to get my $25 free. I ordered some daylilies, crocus, Helebores, grape hyacinth, allium and tulips. I know there were a few more, but forget what right now.

gotta get back to work. ~~~~~~to everyone!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Lovely dahlias, Maria. They were my mother's favorite.

Man, I had forgotten how labor intensive homemade bread from scratch is. My arms are about to fall off from kneading! Just has to rise once more, be separated into loaves then baked. I'm really looking forward to the smell of baking yeast bread. Yum.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 8a)

Maria~Lovely flowers....I'm glad your feeling better. Recovery from something like that takes awhile. Don't over-do or it will take longer.....Of course you know that, it's just hard :0) I started my new job last night, loved it! Their food is wonderful....We will definately go eat there the next time you are here to visit...my treat of course. Off to do the pears, dry the prunes and ................

To everyone else, hello and have a great day.

Karen~

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Well Poop! I set my oven on fire, but no damage except a kitchen towel. I had my bread rising in the oven with a damp towel over it, and since it's so cool and the bread wasn't rising to suit me, turned the oven on low. Well, the towel was draped down over the heating coils and caught fire!

Luckily I was in the kitchen making jam.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

And the Darius saga continues!!! Good thing you were there- someone is watching over you girl! Be careful.

Maria- that arrangement is gorgeous. Do you put the flowers into one of those green foam things? I do so want to learn to do that. I have several dahlias in a container-but they look just like that- several dahlias in a container - helter skelter...not nice.

My teacher DIL just called me. We had planned on going to Sam's together to develop pics. She was still at work at 5:30 (an hour back to here) and still had a lot of stuff to do. So she cancelled our trip. I am disappointed, but do understand the beginning of the year stress. I swear she has adult ADD tho.

DH and I mowed the yard- looks nice. I wish he'd do the trimming too, but that is always a bone of contention. I did spy a dead mouse floating in the pool - major yuck!! DH fished it out and gave it the heave ho.

It is still so chilly/windy here that we have all the door/windows shut. Now they are saying that Ernesto's rain may not ruin our last holiday...have nothing wild planned, but still would like sunny weather.

Off to do dishes...

LOL, Sarv... I can live just fine with minor inconveniences!

Best tip of the day: Don't try to make jam and kneaded bread on the same day. Something will suffer.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Darius, if you wanted to make a smoked loaf you should have used Apple, Cherry or Alder chips. lol glad you caught it in time.

Defoe, that's terrible about DH's fall, hope he heals quickly.

Just got my mail-in voters ballot. Seems I have to be either a dumbocrat or repulsivecan. Think I'll abstain.
Last little piece of curbing is poured and curing. Planted the Coral Bark JM and have to add several wheelbarrows of soil to the bed to level things out. Hope I can get the scaffolding up and do the wiring in the sunroom ceiling over the next couple days. DW said can lights (recessed) might be a good choice , which is neat since I have a case of them at the cabin. My Goji berries have blossoms. Yipppeeeee

Remember; don't get mad, think nice thoughts, put on your mittens before you go out in the snow, and be sure to eat some ice cream.

Rats, this is the worst bread I have ever made. Maybe old yeast, maybe cool temps for the dough rising, but it's awful. Oh, it's edible but BLAH and denser than I'd like. Might also be the flour, I usually use King Arthur but couldn't find it.

Bonnie, how awful, he could have been killed.

Defoe, glad to hear that you are home safely and that you had a good time in spite of the illnesses. I shivered when reading about your DH. Glad that he will be okay, just wish he didn't have to experience this at all. Prayers for him. Tell me about the weather and such of Reno. We are leaving late tomorrow early Sat for Reno/Tahoe for the weekend. We are driving. Should take us about 8 hours with DH driving, being the law abiding citizen he is. Me 7 hours tops. LOL

Bal. Goji berry??? Is it edible? Heck I just managed to try Black current jelly today. I like it. Had it on a bagel. We got our mail in voters papers in the mail today also. I dont care for the choices on either side. Wishing I could vote for a new preliminary election and start over.

WOW to all of you with the cool temps. It is so weird to me hearing of you all mentioning heaters when its 105+ here during the day still. I guess I better get use to it because this is my last 6 months with the same season year round....

Meezer, I have a bunch of pictures of the property hanging around by my desk. My boss teases me that I am trying to disappear into one of the photographs. Little does she know how right she is.

I am starting to get more nervous with everyday about neither DH or I have any income when we move. I kow that I am so much more emotionally happy when I am there but wow this has got to be the scariest thing I have ever done. WE have ever done now that I think about it.

I have a purple Dyson. I LOVE it. My moms lung doctor suggested it and I am so happy he did. My carpet is so much cleaner and it does a wonderful job on my rugs and my tile floors. My only complaint is how awkward the hand cleaning nozzle is to work with. But its worth dealing with that for the cleaning power and the cleaning ease.

Sarv, for DD's graduation we had a picture of her blown up 8X10 and purchased a poster sized frame and matting. We had everyone sign the matting and then placed it into the frame. She loves it.

Twyla, good to see you posting. Hope you are feeling healthier and all.

Mary, glad that you are not slaving over the stove for the second night in a row. I think that being able to see deer in their natural setting like you do would be so beautiful. I have only had that opportunity a couple times that I remember. My father was a big hunter and I was not allowed to go once I discovered that he was killing one of my favorite animals. I was traumatized for years until I realized that it was for food not just for the sport or thrill.

Well as usual I am exhausted. These kids and heat just zap the energy out of me. I need to get outside and water the back plants, jump in the shower and have a conversation with DH about some detail for our trip.
Hope all have a wonderful night, a beautiful tomorrow and ~~~~~~~~'s to all.

DS has crashed for the night so I'm in for a quick peek to see what's been going on. Hope your meds are kicking in for you, Bonnie, and hope your DH is healing well. Glad he didn't get hurt any worse than he did.

Sarv I had a bagel for breakfast but I put raspberry jam and Nutella on it. DS and I went out to chinese buffet for lunch, and for dinner I picked up one of those rotisserie chickens at the market, amended a macaroni salad from the deli, and made a spinach/penne pasta/pine nut and shaved parmesan salad with roasted garlic vinegar and oil dressing. We are majorly stuffed.

Darius, sounds like a yeast problem. Most flours cooperate with almost any leavening or yeast agent you use. I like fresh yeast , but tend to keep it in the freezer too long. And I have to write the expiration date on the top of the jar for the dry stuff so that I don't try to use it when it's gotten old. Those little imprints they put on the label don't catch my eye quick enough. Have you ever tried making starter for sour dough? It smells horrible but it works well. I don't usually mess with it in warm weather, I'd rather bake when it's cold outside. It is hard to find a good spot for raising though. If I have to use the oven for a warm spot, I warm it up first and then heat up a cast iron pan on the top of the stove at intervals to put in to keep it warm. Kind of a nuisance. I used to put the bowl in our heated water bed ...that was perfect but I had to double wrap the bowl or one of the cats would be sleeping in it. Water bed is long gone so it's back to the draft free oven.

Carat, I think the hand tool part of the Dyson is the only fault in that design. It's awkward and a bit heavy. But for the floors, it's fabulous. I kind of like seeing all the dirt it picks up. When you have a vac with a bag for the dirt, all you see is the bag, and you have to keep checking to make sure it's not over half full.

Sammi has progressed from swiping clothing to blankets and throws. He came flying through the living room looking like Superman with a cape, he took a small throw off their window seat and was running away with it. My DS almost fell off the couch laughing.

Robert, those are two of the cutest helpers I've seen in a long time. They look very alert and willing to do almost anything. I'm sure they love having you work outside and try to distract you to play instead of doing your chores. My DD took DS's Howard up to Calgary with her, and he had a great time playing with his brother, who also went traveling with her. She was invited back to speak at one of the kennel association meetings as their guest, so it was a worthwhile trip.

If any more people here get sick or injured, we are going to have to open a hospital ward and ask Babs to come and be the charge nurse. I would blame Darius' continuing mishaps on a full moon, but it's on the wane so that can't be it. I'm watching my step very carefully!!

Sarv, some people compulsively overbook their schedules, and all we can do is roll with it. Too bad you missed your trip to Sam's. I'm staying out of there for the duration, I can't get out of that store without dropping a wad of cash. They always have something I have to have. Not going into any garden shops either...at least for a while..

Suzie, my twenty year old Kenmore cannister vac still works fine but I keep it down near the litter pan in the basement to keep the kids from tracking litter all the way up the stairs. The big beater head isn't working though, I think the belt broke on it and we can't figure out how to take it apart to fix it. I put it in my car and it has had the scenic tour all over three or four counties as I haven't dropped it off to be repaired yet. One day soon......? How nice to start a new job and like it right away! I'll bet they like you too!

Can't remember who else commented today, too sleepy or brain dead, so I' ll just give you all a ~~~~~~ and maybe see you tomorrow, or maybe not......

Evening all,

Bonnie, so glad you're back in one piece anyway, but sorry about the illness and your DH's accident. Please give him our best ---- hope he's healing very quickly and that all those meds you got take care of your problems ASAP.

darius, sounds like you had too many things going on at once today. Sorry the bread didn't turn out right. Hopefully, the jam will be super and make up for it a bit.

All the canned apples and apple-plum butter sounded wonderful. Maybe someday I'll try doing something like that again. At the moment I just don't have the time!

I just finished making some hummus for my DH's birthday party. I have to get a cake made sometime in the next two days and do all the prep work for the pasties that he wants for the main meal. DH is planning on making pita chips tomorrow, but he still isn't supposed to be walking or standing around, so I hope he doesn't overdo things.

Hmmm, never heard of goji berry either, but it certainly has a pretty blossom. How tall does it grow, bal?

Glad you're feeling better, Maria. Please try to take it easy for awhile yet. The floral arrangement is beautiful. I love your use of foliage to showcase the flowers.

Hi to Mary, Lauri, ves, sarv, I01, Twyla, Sheila, somermoone, suzieq, Casey, scooterbug, all our regulars who are MIA and all the "lurkers".

Goodnight Gracie! (I'll be back in a minute with the link to tomorrow's thread.)
