Yes, I am enjoying these cool mornings too, and getting fresh air into the house. Which reminds me, I should run the clean cycle on the oven before winter surprises us. DS should arrive sometime around noon if she got up and got an early start. I was hoping my peaches would be ripe enough for me to get the jam done this morning, but no such luck. They smell wonderful though. Maria, don't worry about assembling the Dyson, I did it without using the instructions, because I hate the way they write them, too. Just give me a picture of the item, with the parts shown where they fit and I'm fine. Start telling me to place the hoojiggy into the slot for the dingalong, and tighten it with the hoobobble, and I'm sunk. Actually, it goes together pretty easy. I had more trouble figuring out how the handle part extends out to give you a longer reach but I managed it finally. The long handle is actually in two parts and the rigid pipe fits inside the expanding accordian type tube, and you just pull it out when you need to extend it. Call me if you have a problem....just don't do it until you feel much much better. Also to empty the dust container, be sure to place the bottom end down in the waste container because the contents fall out with a big plop, and dust will spread. The whole bottom of the thing is hinged, and when you pull the trigger, Poooof! out it comes. Carat, just think, in less than 6 months you won't be facing those kids anymore, you'll be settling in to your new home!! Just the thought of that should make any upcoming stress easier to handle. No.......wait.......you still have to pack up the existing household........guess it's kind of a trade off!! Bonnie, I hope the Dr. visit gets you some relief. What happened to DH? We need details...but you can wait until you feel better.... Babs, that was a great picture. Too bad we don't wear hats anymore!! My stepmother was only 4' 10" and my dad was 6' 3", I was taller than her by the 8th grade. And people really got their milage out of clothes back then, most women had only one "good" outfit that was for all occasions. I had a very hard time getting her to buy clothing as she aged, she always said things were "good enough" until they were in tatters. The years right after the war were tough, all right. Housing was scarce, all the GIs coming home needed places for their families, many wives and children spent the war years living with parents or doubling up with other families to make ends meet. Cars were expensive, and manufacturing hadn't caught up. My dad was driving a Model T, in 1946, a new car was out of the question. My DD keeps telling me I should write about those days because there aren't many people who can remember the day to day living back then. This inspired me to take out my old album and scan some of the pictures. This was 1940 probably in Saxon, or maybe in Superior, WI, when my dad was working at the shipyards. I was five....I'm the teletubby in the middle. Off to toast a bagel, stare at the peaches again, take a shower and do a last minute pickup, can't remember a darn thing about yesterday's thread....Hope Ann is having a great trip. ~~~~~~~ see ya later if DS lets me get on the computer, she hates it.
