Is there a botanical definition for?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

I've looked in Botanary, but can't find. The habit of plants or shrubs or trees that grow with a mound-like or globe like effect? The perennial that comes to mind is the general category of Mums - except for Clara Curtis cultivar, our favorites :)

So many plants have that globe/crown appearance and I just wonder what it is called and why it happens. Thanks for any info.

I didn't want to show my umm buns without looking. LOL Globulous is what came to mind. I usually think of round flowers when I see that. http://davesgarden.com/botanary/vbl/g/280

rofl!!! Yea, globularis seems to sum it up....guess I should put that up in Botanary. No references to anything but plants of course ;)

What a term - globularis.....

Oh, and a googling brings up this definition :)

Hypergravity can reduce but not enhance the gravitropic response ...

whatever - LOL !!!

I think parts of my body have been affected by both globularity and gravitropic response!! LOL

Could the term you're looking for be "globular"? (I kinda like globularis though!)

'Globular' is the word/term you are looking for Dea, but it sure reminds me of what you have when you stick a big spoonful of peanut butter in your mouth! :>)

Global: round like a ball; globe-shaped.
Globoid: shaped somewhat like a globe or ball.
Globular: shaped like a globe or ball; spherical; round.
Or perhaps "lumpy" ?
