Morning Glories 2006 #5

Westmoreland, TN(Zone 7a)

Joseph,
I'm not sure but i think the first post is rose silk or chocolate silk and Lavender silk.
The next post are mini bar rose and sun smile blue.
the next one is 'Heian no Izumi' or 'Heian no Haru' .
the next two are of 'Akathukinoumi' I think not so sure i planted so many that look alike to me.

gardener2005,Thank You i like the leaves also.
They didn't vine for me in that pot,... i wonder why, but i do love the look of them.
I hope to get a couple of seeds from them so i can put them in the ground next year and see what happens with them that way.

Have a good day all,
:}

Janett, I'll probably get a few cups full of seeds. I'll be sure to save some for you.

Zoomer, loved your blue mg.

Greenville, SC

Thanks Patootie! Something finds them delicious but I haven't caught the critters in the act.

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Zoomer, does this critter eat the whole leaves or is it more sporadic holes in the leaves. If the plants is eaten abit here and there its probebly locusts or crickets.
Janett

Greenville, SC

Whatever is doing it eats tiny holes leaving a lacy look but I keep checking the leaves and find nothing.

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Then it must be locust or small crickets. My brugs and MG:s have the same look and I found them many times in the evenings when I water the plants. Sadly there is nothing you CAN do about these critters beyond cursing and hosing them off.

A small army of toads, frogs and lizards maybe? That would show those leaf chewers!

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

rotflol. yeah send out invitations right away. Big locust party ....feast all you like at no charge.
Janett

Ron-the Maruba JMG has just 6 sepals. With luck I can get a photo of the calyx.

I am very excited...my Gypsy Bride vines have switched from leaf production to flower production just within the past week...have noticed flower buds being produced yay!

Joseph, that is a Rose Silk tie dye from Emma's seeds from couple years ago, I have so many seeds, I could never grow them all in one year (variety wise) so this year was my year for the rosey chocolates and variations, I only grew I think 4 that were in the blue hue's :)

Here is a variant of Shiborazaki, I am finding 3 forms from seeds I took directly out of the commercial foil package. There is this one, which is ghost-like, pale corolla with a thin purple line pattern.

Joseph

Then there is this really nice solid purple flower with the bright throat area, still Shiborazaki seeds.

Then there was the classic striped patterns that appeared on the seed package.

Here is fabulous Q751 JMG. It has a flower about 3 inches in diameter, with pale cream white background color and reddish/purple specks on it. I had to use duct tape to close my lower jaw after seeing this flower! LOL

Here is Ipomoea lacunosa Lilac, a small flower but a delight to see nevertheless.

and lastly but not leastly, Xiong's Fabulous Chinese Morning Glory. It is red velvet, each flower perfect in every way, none are shredded or deformed. Incredible.

Oh my gosh Joseph, they're all lovely but that Q751 is unbelievable.
Nice to see something different. Xiong's is a real beauty too and I also like the small, but lovely lacunosa.
