What a delicious photograph, Janett, look at those raindrops glistening on that beautiful flower!

Here is a set of photos I took today. The first is JMG Kawaii, I can't rave enough about the vivid colors this cultivar has! (thank you, Dietmar)

Here is Maruba Asagao JMG, first flower, I almost passed out when I saw it, what a beauty! (thank you Dietmar)

Maruba Asagao has cordate leaves just like I. purpurea.

Thumbnail by

Here is Akatsuki no Haru. You can only capture the delicate pink color of the flower in the early morning sunlight. Otherwise the sun washes out the color.

Here is the latest iteration of Shiborazaki, really deep blue on the flower this morning!

Still waiting for flowers of Ipomoea spp. 'Red Burst'. Here's a shot of the container in which it is growing.

Lastly, here is Ipomoea transvaalensis growing in its container, waiting for the flowers.

Joseph that Maruba is to die for so is Akatsuki. have to wear sunglasses for the Kawaii. that one shines even more then Pink Picotee.
Pretty foliage on the last one.
Janett

Thank you, Janett, it is a delight to see all these flowers in real life. Have a great evening!

Joseph - The Ipomoea purpurea Maruba here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/Gerris2_1156194712_774.jpg
is displaying 10 primary ribs, which is twice the usual number of primary ribs on most Ipomoea purpurea...there is also what looks like some partial doubling as per some of the stamens turning into petals...

Can you post a shot of the sepals(?)...and if there are the usual 5 sepals,or if this Maruba has more than 5 sepals to match the number of primary ribs...

The flower reminds me of the double throated Ipomoea purpurea that Janis had gotten last season here

I'll try to get an image of the sepals soon, Ron. There is another flower coming along on the vine.

JanettD,

I was showing off this thread and DH went ..."that's IT, I'll buy you chicken wire and then you can keep them in one place!"

Woohoo, he's IN ;)

Joseph,

What do you trellis your container MG's on that keeps them so 'contained'?

Gorgeous photos everyone, I think I have MG envy!!

Beautiful morning glory's from all who shared.

Oh you can do so much with chickenwire and a couple of "sticks". You can make a cheap trellis anywhere, in a flowerbed, in a lawn by putting down two poles and chickenwire in between and just put the MG:s there. I put up the chickenwire to be able to have Tayson out all day and it so darn ugly so I tried to cover it with MG:s and it was darn much cheaper then have a chainlink fence.

Here is the "gate" to the garage. the gate is also chickenwire old fasion country style gate with an "arbour" made of a thin very tall cherrytree.

Sunny,

I use a circular tomato cage in the container, it works pretty well except later in the year the entire contraption starts looking like Cousin It from the Adams Family TV show. LOL

Fujishibori this morning

Thumbnail by OhioBreezy

Oooh and Aaahh! Laurrie, how expansive is the diameter of Fujishibori and is the throat slightly yellow or white? So beautiful it is! Wow!

Joseph

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

More beauties!!! I have got to keep checking in.

Robbie,

What are the names of the MGs you're showing in your postings? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Joseph

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

I`m curious about the first picture of the lavender and chocolate ones side by side. The leaves are neat on those.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Joseph, good to see ya ;)
Fujishibori is about 4 inches, these are first blooms, they will get larger, and the throat is white, i enlarged the photo and looked and it does appear a little yellow, but that is just playing tricks on our eyes, it's white inside :)

I will have to try and get some when the morning sun isn't shining thru the bloom so you can see how the purple/white contrast is in person!!!

Nice MG, dont know its name but I am sure someone knows.......... RON

When you edit a post you can also delete the line that says "this message..................." so your post dont get so long when you edit. ppssst and it doesnt show how many times you edit it rotflol. Before spellchecker came I edited post alot and always had a LOT of "this message....." untill some one pointed it out to me. Now I always delete those telltails of how many wrongs I did in a post :0))
