Not much of a TV watcher myself, but I do like this program. It was shown previously on HGTV and they are presently airing some re-runs at 7 am EST on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a short period of time. I have just learned that Erica Glaesner has taped 26 new episodes but there is no indication of when they will be on the air.
If you liked this show, please email Mary Ellen Iwata at Melwata@HGTV.com and let her know you would like to see it again.
"A Gardener's Diary" on TV
I used to love that show. I haven't caught it in a long while. If they aren't airing it anymore, that would explain why.
I'll email and ask to have it back on again. At a decent hour. 7 am EST is 5 am my time. I don't do early mornings for anything short of an emergency. :)
oh, I'll have to tape this - used to watch it religiously - thanks for the heads up
Catherine
I also used to enjoy that show. I've found HGTV doesn't have as many gardening shows as they used to. Now it's just all this landscaping stuff, where people go out and buy a bunch of plants and stick them in. I prefer shows like Gardener's Diary, where people have spent years planning and growing their gardens. I'll send an email.
I try to remember to watch it on Thursdays, here in New York. I love the show, but can only catch the first 15 minutes and then I'm off to work. I should tape it, but then I never have time to watch the tape! Maybe they could show it in the evenings. Better yet, early on Saturday or Sunday to inspire us to get out in our gardens. I'll e-mail, too.
By the way, I think you mean "A Gardener's Journal" on HGTV.
You are right; I did mean diary and not journal. My brain was on vacation again.
No, Ardesia. You were right.....it is a Gardener's Diary!
There was also a show called "Gardener's Journal" on HGTV. I used to watch both "Diary" and "Journal". At the present, only "Diary" has been reinstated.
Caught it on hgtv this morning. Always nice to see because most of the gardens are in the south and a lot of them are in the Atlanta area!
Oh man, am I a Gardeners Diary lover. I sure did miss it, along with Journal also. I've been watching the few reruns that they are showing early in the morning.
Even though I can't grow many of the lovely plants that are shown in the South, I can sure listen and learn some of the knowledge that many of the gardeners share.
I just sent an email to the link posted above. I sure hope they do bring it back soon.

Had to chime in ... I hate these make over landscape shows! They show a home with an absolutely
desolate back yard - not a wit of attention having been put on it for years. And then in one day, they
plant & sod it and supposedly that same family is suddenly going to care for it????
I love both Gardeners Journel & Gardeners Diary. And the old Victory Garden (anyone else miss
Roger Swain & his crew?)
Tam
Tammy, I hear ya. I would just love to have them produce a show called "Landscape Smart: One Year Later", just to see how well the proud homeowers took care of the purple plant thingy, lol
Tammy, Roger Swain has a garden show on HGTV, don't know if the same crew but pretty similar format. I will look it up for you.
What I love is when they interview someone who is all full of themselves and proud of 'their' garden and then come to find out it was designed and planted and maintained by someone ELSE! argh. lol
that was easy

OK, Ardesia, I just sent her an email too.
Thanks for the heads-up.
thanks Voss!
And what a wonderful idea - "Landscape Smart - one year later". I bet it would look like
"Landscape Disaster!"

I really miss "The Perennial Garden" which is on PBS from Iowa. North Carolina PBS carried it for awhile, but no more. Not sure why.
I had to google it to refresh my memory. Was it "The Perennial Gardener"? I found it on the PBS
website - it looks like they only made two seasons. I didn't see any dates though. And it was not
on any of the local PBS stations around here either.
I enjoyed a show with Barbra Damrash & Elliott Coleman from the 90's. Anyone remember that
one?
I enjoyed that one also. I sent an Email. Oh my favorite was the bug guy who taught us humorusly about the lifesyles of bugs. It was on PBS.
those landscape shows are so frustrating because you have no idea what zone they are in, they don't give you info on the plants they are planting let alone the name and if so can you write that down fast enuf?
The few shows that teach help me. The others just wake me up early enough to start my own gardening on Sat and Sunday. I do get ideas of what to do and what not to do from the shows. Plant types that I find interesting on the shows give me reason to research them for my area. Few teach much but it is better than murder and postmortems.
I like to watch the gardening shows also. Gives me ideas on the How-to's but its also frustrating to watch the show like landscape smart, landscape challenge.....etc. These people have the bucks to have someone come in to re-do their yards. They can afford to have someone come in and take care of it.
Oh I love Gardening shows! Wish I could watch them all day.
HGTV and DIY! I learn lots from them including garden forums!
Tricia
