I live in an urban area with a lot of busy streets. There are no ponds or lakes within walking distance and I live in a neighborhood that is not real big on gardens. This morning as I was crossing the yard, a little frog jumped from in front of me into my rose garden. In 10 years, I've never seen a frog in my yard and I can't figure out where it came from. Don't these guys need swimable water to survive? I have made a lot of plant changes this year and I've been attracting butterflies like crazy. I wonder if it's just a fluke incident or if there is something attracting it.
Of All Things, a Frog!
Could it be a toad?
The first year I bought bags and bags of cedar mulch to lay on the new beds, I noticed I had quite a few of them. Now I haven't seen one for 3 years. I have always wondered if they somehow came in the mulch.
Nope it was a small frog about 1 1/2 inches long by about an inch wide.
It sounds like a tree frog, more often heard than seen. Do you here the peepers in spring there?
