I recently (this past spring) bought enough BN to cover my entire yard. How long before they get to work? This summer I've had Japanese Beetles and black vine weevils eating up my plants. Does anyone know if I have to re-apply them?

It's not an overnight cure like chemical warfare is.
I believe it takes a couple of years to see really good results. Although next year and each year after will get better. (As along as you maintain a poison-free environment.)
You might consider applying Milky Spore this fall, that will also help rid you of Japanese Beetles.

Oh goodie. I'll do that then too. I don't like to use chemical killers. I have a dog that roams freely in the yard and I want to play it safe. Would you happen to know if milky spore is okay for pets?

Milky Spore does not affect pets, beneficial insects, fish, bees, birds, other animals, plants. It is not a poison.
Yes Tonyjr, nematodes, but not the root eating type, the bad bug larvae eating type. These are called beneficial nematodes and they're the kind you want in your garden.
