I have really enjoyed seeing all this beautiful artwork that has been shown on this thread and on many other ones in the past. I have a little artistic ability in me, but it wanders in many directions. I don't have enough to create any beautiful painting though. lol My sister is the real artist in the family and would really enjoy seeing many of these masterpieces.

I would love to see a forum where we could showcase many of the artists on DG and give inspiration to others who would love to try their hands at it and possibly get some help.

renatelynne: While I'd LOVE to have a vase like that (and please do let me know if you ever do another one), my expression "I WANT ONE" was to let you know how absolutely wonderful and awesome I felt the vase is. It's to die for, and you have a great talent! I really wasn't trying to be at all pushy re obtaining the vase. Hope there was no misunderstanding! :>)

*giggle.... no problem. I didn't think much of it when I did it... wasn't a favorite of mine... but others love it a bunch.

Wow . . . It's nice to see the amount of feedback this thread has already generated. I don't know the criteria (in terms of numbers) required to get a new forum started, but it's apparent that there are a good deal of artist as well as art lovers interested.

I didn't give a lot of thought to a title of the proposed new forum when I suggested the idea, but I'm sure what ever Admin decides will be appropriate. And for all I know, they may rather let us make a short list and vote on one? Either way would be fine by me . . . if and when a decision is made to add one for the fine arts. I'm just happy to see so many folks excited about the whole idea and even happier to see folks showing us their art. :)

I'm always searching around on the forums to see what the creative folks on this site have done. It'd be great to have them in one forum. I vote arts forum please.

They are both excellent resources and have very good forums.

Count me in on the Arts/Artist Forum. There are lots of great visual arts that could be discussed.
I love to do Sculpture and would love to see it included.

Good deal . . . that struck a chord . . . I think "Visual Arts" may be an appropriate - catch all - title for a new forum. Any other ideas sound better?

I think Visual Arts might have a connotation of media like film or TV.

I agree Visual arts would cover too broad a field. It would be fun to include sculpture. No big deal though... I paint too, I can bore you just as well with my paintings. LOL

Yeah you may have a good point there . . . I don't think of it in those terms but others might.

A few other name I thought about were:

Art Studio

Fine Arts and More

Wet Paint (kind of catchie, but doesn't really cover all the bases)

Anyway, those were just a few and it may be a bit premature to worry about a title . . . when we don't even know yet if it will fly. Meanwhile, we can keep spreading the word and see how much more support the idea gets :)

"Art Studio" or "Fine Arts" would help indicate it is not craft type items, or kiddo's finger paints, etc. I would vote for either one of those.
I can just imagine what the photos for the banner might be!!

My one caveat...we all know that some very beautiful artwork is rather adult-themed. But let's keep in mind that DG-appropriate = G-rated ;o)

Fantastic....teach decorative painting - more realism than any and work with such mediums as Genesis, oils, acrylics and watercolor..how fantastic to access such a site from my already addicted DG site!!!

Great opportunity for all to learn new mediums or impart new knowledge....
