Allium Karativiense - And then there were none!

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I lusted after this plant and tracked down some bulbs. When the bulbs arrived, all but one were soft on the roots. The person I got them from was more than accomodating sending a few extra when I notified them. I potted the bulbs in the early spring and placed them in bright light but not where they would get overwhelmed with spring rains. The plant files show that it is ok for this zone and sun is ok. A zipcode report listed Brazoria, Tx. Should work for me.
These bulbs started rotting one by one. I guess that is what they were doing. When I pulled them from the soil the bottom was soft and they smelled like something died and forgot to go to heaven! As they were fading away, I even tried repotting the ones that weren't rotten using fresh soil, new pots. Today, the last one bit the dust. I am torqued and confused. Was this something wrong with the bulbs or me?

Pod where did you get the bulbs. Did you order them? Maybe they were defective to begin with.
I looked at High Country Gardens to see what the requirements are and it doesn't sound like you did anything wrong.

I suspect the problem was with the bulbs. I bought them from an ebay seller. They were more than accomodating about replacing the ones that were soft. In fact said they found more that were soft. The ones I planted were firm and the last one to give up the ghost had put on leaves (barely) before it rotted. The rot came from the root end.
I hope to try again but will find bulbs from a reputable grower, does High Country Gardens stock this bulb?

Yes they do stock that bulb. Hopefully they still have them in stock and haven't sold them all.
