Shiela---- It is a lot easier than golf. It just the mental part that makes you win are loose. I would say it is somethinf like bowling in that respect.
Coffee...and for July 28, 2006
darius what is your plot number?
Ves, it's probably on the deed but my sister in FL has that.
There's a number of sites where you can get aerial views of your neighborhood and I can't dredge one up out of my memory bank. Some do it for a fee, but there is a free site and I can't recall the name. All you need to do is fill in your address. Is anyone else familiar with this?
This is one I found on http://mapserver.maptech.com/homepage/index.cfm and another one

Find your house this is fun
use the free version ............

That was fun, Meezer, but our house doesn't even rate a dot on their map. I remember looking at another one and when I typed in the address it showed me the house down the road a half mile. So much for accuracy.
It's hot, what else is new. 6 months from now I'll be freezing my buns and wishing for this. Are we ever satisfied? People are funny. Of course some of you live where there aren't such definite seasons, and you probably wish for a white Christmas. We always get one.
Cece, there are lots of books on canning, they give pictures and step by step instructions. Start with something simple like peaches or making jam. If you have neighbors who can produce, ask if they would like a helper for a day and you will learn by doing, that is even better, and more fun.
I pulled a bunch of weeds, rode Patch for a while and got stared at by a young fox who was close enough to his hole to not worry about us until we got pretty close. When they are surprised out in the open they run fast and far. The fox family this year had 6 kits but I haven't seen more than one at a time for quite a while, I guess they are out on their own.
Remember the post office murder we had a few months ago? The guy went to court today, his attorney said he intended to plead guilty and be sentenced the same day. He will be in the graybar hotel, guest of the state, with meals, security, congenial companionship, and medical care (thanks taxpayers) for 35 years before he would be elegible for parole. He is about 35-40 now, so basically he is there for life. I haven't heard if he changed his mind at the last minute and wants a trial. Hubby said the courtroom would be packed. It's a nervous time for the prosecution team until it is over, then a big relief. He has put hundreds of hours into interviewing witnesses, making drawings, photographs, double checking everything to make sure nothing is missed before it goes to court. Nobody wants a case like this thrown out on a technicality. The DA has given him a lot of responsibility. Hubby just came home, the guy is on his way to prison. Big sigh of relief.
Time to change sprinklers again. What's for dinner at your house? I need to invent something quickly.
Good, Mary. Sometimes the justice system works like it should. I know it was a lot of hard work for the DA's side and for all the court people, but it sounds like everything was done right, and justice was correct.
Had a busy morning with errands and such. Once I got through the 'but first' items, things went smoothly. Then home for a quiet afternoon with a couple of 'except fors' hanging out there. Got them tended to, supper fixed, eaten and dishes washed and now I'm down to the last 'except for' before hitting the sack. So, I'm off to the 'except for' shower and then to bed with a good book and a good night's sleep.
Hope you all sleep with the angels and I'll see you all in the morning,
ginni
I'm pooped even though I did little myself today except supervise. I did get a short nap on the couch from 8 to 9pm then watched a "feel good" movie on the Hallmark channel.
Say Goodnight, Gracie
Good evening everyone,
It's been so hot and muggy here all day that the air conditioner at the store couldn't touch it! Everything's sticky. Yuck! Well, at least I didn't have as "interesting" a day as yesterday. Somermoone, I believe you were trying to ask what kind of store I have. It's a hobby shop and I also sell handcrafted gifts on the web.
darius, glad that the helpers turned out well after all and that you got so much accomplished,
Mary, sorry you didn't get to go on your ride this weekend, but with the weather that's being forecast, it might be just as well.
Bonnie, good thing you have air conditioning. I don't want to imagine dealing with steaming pots in this weather without it!
ves, I don't think that I've ever seen one of those cranes. I'd love to see pictures!
Hi I01, hope you're keeping cool. I don't want to really know what the weather must be like there.
Meant to respond to more people individually, but I think that my brain might be melting, so I think I'll just ~~~~~~~~~~ and say goodnight.
Well, everyone has been busy today, I have too. Froze 29 pints of corn, and made a new recipe for dill pickles this afternoon. Since it is a new recipe, just made 4 pints, didn't want to waste the ingredients if the recipe isn't any good. dmc, this recipe calls for putting the cukes in the jar and adding the vinegar, spices, garlic, chilis, and alum, then processing in a water bath. My mother always made pickles in a crock, and as I remember was about a 14 day process. Who would like to can, but never has? Don't want to go back and look it up, but if you can follow a recipe, then you can can. There are good canning books to be had, the Ball Blue Book comes to mind. In canning, you need to follow specific instructions about the pressure, the time, so as not to have contaminated food, and the whole bunch gets food poisioning. Tomorrow they are having a "harvest showcase" in the county where anybody who wants can bring their produce to sell, plants, etc. The beef producers, pork producers, and chicken producers will be serving lunch from home grown products. I am planning on going, if weather permits.
Oz, horseshoes, bowling and golf must be similar. I was a bowler years ago, but haven't bowled in about 10 years. Some days, I was above average, and some days, belonged on the beginners league. The best game I ever bowled, was one night on a league. I had been working hard all day, was dead tired, and really considered calling a sub. But went anyway and bowled a series of 729. Hadn't ever done that, and didn't do it again. My average when I bowled consistently was about 175. Not bad for a chick!!
I am a mystery shopper, and had an assignment tonight to have dinner at LongHorn Steakhouse. Was delicious, and for the first time, had to send my steak back, as it mooed when I cut into it!!. They were gracious about it, and the manager delivered the recooked steak back to the table.
Well, gonna go check out some other forums, and will be back shortly to start the daily.
~~~ to all I didn't mention.
Well, the daily is up, follow me over there: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/632730/
