I just discovered that along with the beautiful English ivy, I have horrible, beautiful, lush, huge-leaved poison ivy all over the place in my naturalized garden area. This was never a problem till our neighbors cut down 7 old growth pines and took us from full shade to full sun.
Always it was a sprig or two pulled by hand with gloves - no problem.
How on earth do I get rid of it now? It is far too big! I have already sprayed a whole bottle of poison ivy/poison oak killer and nothing has happened yet. How long do these things take to work (the label was stuck to the bottle so I couldn't open it to read the directions)?

poison ivy help!
It can take up to 2 weeks to see the signs that the spray worked. Another method I have used on esepcially big plants it, to follow the 'trunk' down to as low as you can get, and cut it there - then coat the stump in brush killer to kill the roots. This 'kills' the top much more quickly, but is more of a pain to do.
And I'd plant some shade trees! :-)
