I would like to add my photo to the Bugfiles, but I'm that "General Gardener" that you have been talking about.
I have... which I think is a (Common Name) Bumble Bee, (Genus) Bombus and Species=????
I did find this link http://www.bumblebee.org/isITaBumble.htm
Could someone ID this Bee form me? I dont want to try to post a bug if I have the wrong info.
He is sitting on Yarrow with a furry coat on. He is the smaller of the bumble bees that I see in the garden.
Bumble bee species?
possibly bimaculatus but hard to say :)
Take a look here: http://pick5.pick.uga.edu/mp/20p?see=I_SD/0013
Scroll down a bit to find Bombus, next page has more.
If unsure then you can always post it as Bombus sp.
WOW that is a great site. I'm not sure either which it is.
I'll take your advice and post Bombus sp. !!!
...and I thought I had a decent closeup camera!
Thank you
