Oh wait! Now that I see Grampapa's post, I realize I got Le Reve, not Mona Lisa.
Grampapa- Those Callunas and Ericas are amazing. Plants I would love to have, but simply can't grow. Down the street from me they had 2 giant ones growing for years next to the sidewalk, but alas, they sold the house and the new owners ripped out those gorgeous, well-tended plants and put in GRASS! I mean those plants were 3 feet wide! I wish I'd known they were going to get rid of them.... I could've been there and scooped them up.
What's Growing - Part 6
Ooh, I can't wait for Catherine Woodbury! Thanks, Al.
Ivy, the colors in your circle bed are wonderful! but you didn't need to be mosquito brunch just to show us LOL I NEED more lilies. (DH is enjoying the fragrance from LeReve tonite)
It's too bad when you see someone who doesn't appreciate a plant just rip it out. I'd be perfectly happy to get rid of all my grass and replace it with flower beds. you don't have to mow heather (well, maybe a haircut once a year). I don't really know if yet if I can grow it either. But I had to try. I got 16 varieties from Rockspray in Maine. they only sell the hardy types and I let them pick what they thought would do well for me to start with.
Pixie, Al mentioned the Orange Vols. I liked that one too. It catches my eye every time I scroll by it.
gram
Gram, I like that Scotch heather Multicolor the best. Very interesting.
Being from Conn. AND being a Uconn grad, I am forbidden to like orange vols. ( Now, we'll find out if anyone knows women's basketball)
Dave ~ Orange Vols is not my favorite anyways, but I don't know basketball.
Andy ~ The Cleome is lovely! What a nice big patch you have!
Gram ~ I really like the heather, the flowers are so dainty! Does it smell good too?
Ivy ~ You circle garden is beautiful, sorry you were the misquitos lunch for that picture. Aren't they horrendous lately?!
Al ~ I no sooner asked you about the grass and one of my mail order flower places sent me a sale e-mail. Guess what the sale was on? Balloon flowers and Purple Fountain Grass!
I have a little flower show going on the side of my house. This only gets morning sunlight then its shaded by 10-11am so these lilies are doing well considering. I am 5 feet 4 inches and the taller of the 2 plants comes up to my forehead. I have to guess that if they were in full sun it would probally be taller than I am.
Anita ~ the pics are lovely but that dahlia with the pink, peach, and yellow is amazing!!!!
The bee looks like he's enjoying himself!
He was very engrossed in what he was doing as he didn't seem to mind when I got real close to snap this one
Oh, how do you guys do that?
Dahlias, dahlias dahlias. Yummy! I love that peachy orangy purply pink one with yellow undertones.
Gotta go take some pics in my 5 year old daughter's garden. Her's is much better than anything I have planted.
Pixie...your bee looks stuck..
nap ~ It looks so real, even the flower!
cool!
Anybody want seeds? I have Red Lupine seeds that are ready to be shipped. Pink Mallow will be ready soon. Here is a pic. of the pink mallow, it grows approx. 3ft. tall and will come back or reseed it's self. Mine came back from last year, and I had no seedlings from it sprouting up in unwanted places.
I would love some Pixie. Thanks. I'm in the address exchange.
This is "Jacob's Ladder" it too will have seeds after flowering and i actually planted some in the house last fall. kept it alive all winter then gave it to my Brothers this spring to put outside his house. Let me know if you would like some of these seeds too and i'll put you on the list and mail as soon as they are ready.
I would love to try that too pixie - A word about that particular plant. I have a variegated that looked like it died, but is now making a comeback. Have you encountered this before?
They tend to go "dormant" for no apparent reason that I can find. I kept the one in the house last year and it did it twice. I just kept treating it as if it were still alive (which it evidently was) and it bounced back. Strange plant, but I love the shape of the leaves and the color of the blooms.
Anita, I have to jump on the bandwagon...that dahlia that looks like a sunset is gorgeous. the purple one is lovely, too, but it's overshadowed by it's flashy friend.
Andy, I like the cleome, they're kind of regal
Ivy, would love to see what's going on in your little one's garden.
Pixie, everything's pretty, as usual. I'm missing getting up early like I did on vacation and catching everyone's early morning postings. Now I have to wait for lunch, if I even have time (can I get an 'ooooh, poor gram' ?)
this is so much fun, the great pics just keep comin'
gram
me too
I have some border dahlia's that are just starting to come into bloom. I wintersowed them and am very excited to see how they look. I took one pic this morning, but it came out blurry, so I'll try again tomorrow am.
This is a bit lengthy but all the women w/children will love it. My daughter sent it to me, she now knows what it's like to be a Mom!!!

>> He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over

>> He was met with a small trickle of water as it

>> "Yes," was his incredulous reply."
