I like the rustic looking zinnia's also and Old Mexico's a really nice one, I Absolutely love rudbeckia submentosa 'henry eiler's'!!! It's so awsome!!! Great picture of it!!

Pixie, I'll have to take a look at the uglies forum, I haven't been there in a while and it always makes me laugh!! I've had some bad uglies on some of the first blooms, Thank God they always get back to looking like they are suppose to after the first or second bloom!!! LOL!

Had a bloomer on the Stargazer today...

Iris - I had a swallowtail on my butterfly bush this morning, but I didn't have my camera out with me :(

Nancy...I thought of you before. I used two of the cards we had swapped as birthday cards!!!

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

nap, Thankyou.

Anita, Aww, Sorry you missed him, I know how you feel, I have missed many many good opportunitys for pictures because I didn't have my camera handy.

Iris is definitely back!

Finger Lakes, NY(Zone 6a)

Since my coneflower Razzmatazz is one of my favorites I had to have this daylily. It was on the clearance rack of daylilies of a local nursery with no photo, just the label "Razzmatazz."

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Ok - I have found something very interesting for all you Daylilly growers... http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/04/09/HOG7UC42QO1.DTL

Did you all know this???? I'm too chicken to try it.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Anita, Me too.

Ivy1-Thanks! Everyone posts such beautifull pictures! I really enjoy seeing pictures of plants that I don't have.

Anita, I heard about people eating parts of Daylilys before, But, It's not something I'd ever do! LOL!

I was pleasently surprised today to see a family of squirrels in a nestbox, I have been watching this box for months and had gotten no results and gave up on it about a week ago, But today when I looked, I had mama and 5 babies in there! I have a small video camera in the box which lets me view twhats going on inside 24 hours a day. I know this is a plant bloom thread, but, I just wanted to share my surprise of the day. (If anyone wants to see a photo, I'll post one, If not, It's ok, As it really belongs in the wildlife forum)

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Lots of pretty things today. Iris, I'd love to see the squirrels. They are a part of your northeast garden along with the butterflies and dragonflies.

I have some fat buds on my Stargazer. Shouldn't be more than a day or 2.

Finger Lakes, NY(Zone 6a)

Iris--Absolutely please show us the squirrels.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Grampapa and rsquared, Heres the squirrel family, Not the greatest photos as I had taken pictures with my camera from the tv. ( I have this video cam set up on a vcr so I can't put it on the computer unless I take a pic from the tv with my camera) Also, Up-date, I had to adjust the video cam as it was off center, I did this while she was away from the box, But, She must have caught my scent from that 5 minute ordeal because she is now moving them :( ( Darn it!) P.S. I bet you cant wait for those fat buds on the stargazer to open Gram papa!

Picking Black Beauty as my favorite of those.

My favorite shrubs are starting. This is 'Pee Wee' - a type of PG hydrangea I have at my neighbor's - it likes it there.

awwwwww :-) I'm sorry she's moving the babies. I've never seen a baby squirrel.

If we're picking favs, I'm going for Black Beauty today, too.

also, would like to be notified if anything goes up for sale next door to Al

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Gram, They always tend to move them, I would have thought she would have stayed a little longer though.
Black Beauty is a gorgeous plant!!
Al's got some nice plants ( I want that 'henry eiler's'!!) LOL!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Sorry Pixie - I got everyone calling it Black and not Back Beauty.

Iris - I had to mail order Henry, you could try some seeds - I don't know if they are true.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Iris ~ You and I have a lot of the same taste in flowers I see. I too own Joan, Trahlayta, and Cherry Cheeks! Beautiful pics. of the flowers, just awesome of Mama & babies!!

Anita ~ I actually own a daylily book that has some daylily recipes....want some??? LOL
I never dared to eat them, looking at them is just fine with me!

Al ~ It's a beautiful bush but how many neighbor's yards did you covet?

Hi Gram ~ How is your week back @ work?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

VERY FUNNY AL!!! I fixed it, had only one cup of coffee when I got on here this morning. Wasn't good!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I do have most of the plants at 2 of my neighbors, my other close one is a bit aloof and hasn't given me control yet - although she always says she wants to change things.
