Nap - I have 5 beds or so - with some at my neighbors and a big one at work.

Still waiting to get an ID on this, maybe rudbeckia herbstone

Al ~ That qualifies you as an addict!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

It also means I can't really comment on other people's garden design, because my plan is to fit as many dahlia, coneflowers and hydrangea I can into my beds without a big picture.

My therepist said that I am just fine -as long as I keep paying :}

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Some at your neighbors?

Wellington, OH

To all of you: I have never seen so many beautiful flowers and flower gardens. I have to admit that you're influencing me to be a better gardener....I'm trying plants that I never even noticed before.....an I just have to buy more lilies and try some dahlias next year....never knew there were so many different kinds. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. K

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I know what you mean. This has to be one of the best threads out there.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I was thinking of having a dance in my yard...I've got so many male flowers on my gourd plants and zucchini...I figured if I had a dance, it might encourage some of the girls to show up.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

If the flowers are still immatue, all the males will hang out on one side and the females on the other.

Mystic, CT(Zone 6b)

They won't dance, just shuffle their feet and look down at the ground.....

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

darn...maybe I should invite the birds and the bees?

Mystic, CT(Zone 6b)

Watch out! If you do, those gourds will be reproducing like bunnies.......

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

And I was worried you had lost your gourd.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

no, that was my mind. Remember??? I wanted to know what the rent was?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Our quipping is in top form today, I see.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Not much new today.

Here is a Chippendale zinnia, small flower really.

Pixie, I really like Sambo & Max. I can't believe you keep bringing new pics without repeating your self!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

"China Lake" I live across the street from the real China Lake so I had to have this one!

LOL...I try not to repeat any pictures but it's not always easy. I have to many....there I said it! My orientals are getting ready to bloom! I can't wait!!!

Mystic, CT(Zone 6b)

I pick sambo, but I am a sucker for purple.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ivy ~ I too love purples but some are really hard to capture the true color, same with some of my reds.

Mystic, CT(Zone 6b)

I agree, I have trouble in the blue-purple ranges with my camera.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

You know I love those purples, too, but Max is gorgeous. Zella almost looks like a huge daffodil.

al, I like your little zinnia. it's neat

gram

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

ok - the consensus is...Maxfied rules! I think it's georgeous!!!!

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

bigcityal, Colorfull little zinnia!

Pixie, WOW, On Sambo Wilder and Maxifield Parrish!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Iris - I am sorry about your brother in law.

I think this is a rare plant - rudbeckia submentosa 'henry eiler's' I was hoping the flowers would be a bit bigger, but there are a lot on it.

Well folks - this is the last of my 9 kinds of zinnias for this year. I really do like the rustic blends, but the solid colors seem to be easier to take in.

Old Mexico - another small one

Al ~ I really like zinnia's, they have many different "faces", color combos and size variety that you are sure to find one or 2, or maybe 3, that you like! I like that last one alot...it has a warm homey look to it.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on "Maxfield" , it put on quite a show last year and then this year it had MUMPS on the buds. Thats my nic-name for them...it was better than warts! Anyways the first bud opened and it was ugly....so ugly I entered it on the daylily forum under the "Ugly Thread" and it won the daily-double!! http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/607675/ one member said it was "Texas ugly", so I was estatic to it bloom and looking more like it should!
