storm damage here

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Wed. nite we had a fierce wind and rain storm come through west KY and my gardens took a hard hit. The corn is flattened and my pole beans are a mess. My precious tomatoes are damaged, but not destroyed. It has poured rain Thurs and Fri,so I couldn't get in to rescue anything before today.

I will have to cut some of my pole beans to keep what is left of the crop and tomato vines are broken everywhere. The corn is destroyed.I'm not too upset about the corn as it is hybrid and I'm only growing it for the table, but as most of you know ,I'm passionate about my heirlooms. The next week or two will be devoted to cleaning up and salvaging what I can.
I'll keep ya'll posted on the progress.

Melody, I'm so sorry - what a bummer to lose your crops like that. Hope things look better when the sun comes back out!

Hampstead, NC(Zone 8a)

Man, have I been there and done that here in NC hurricane alley. Only positive thing about it, at least with flowers is that the next year after the hurricane the plants seem to come up better than ever. With the garden, I've lost a two acre plot twice and I just cried. Hang in.

Ah, that's sad, but at least you have something left to salvage, and the ruined parts make good compost. Enjoy what is left.

so sorry about the damage to your garden...it is hard to do all of that work and watch it destroyed before you eyes! Keep your chin up!
