Hi folks,

Casey - will be thinking of DH and hope all goes well.

Susan - hope your furbaby is back with you soon and healed.

Darius, I'd love to see that pattern. haven't made my sweat bands yet - it's not quite so hot now.

Just got in. About 15 of us Aquafit/Red Hat friends went to see "The Devil Wears Prada" and then out for a snack. Good movie.

Good night to all.Hope you all have a good night.

Well, I am back. DTW and grandkids left about 3:00, I picked up the house and rested until about 4:30, when I left to take DGD to her half sister's for tonight and tomorrow. She will then go home on Saturday, and back here on Sunday afternoon. While I was out, I did my grocery shopping and a trip to Walmart, this for DM, DMIL, and me. I didn't get home until 8:30. Been shelling lima beans for an hour or so. So will have them ready to freeze tomorrow. The kids really enjoyed the pool, and had a good time. I love for them to come, but it sure takes a lot out of me.

DH took a neighbor lady and partner to Louisville this afternoon. She fell about 10 days ago, and was seen in the local emergency room. They told her her arm was fractured, put a splint on it and sent her home. They don't have any insurance, and therefore just get minimum care. The arm has been hurting for this long, and she went back to the emergency room last night, and they told her to go to UofL, which is a teaching hospital, and be seen there. It turns out that she is going to need surgery as it is a multiply fracture, and will need plates and screws. This makes me so mad that sick or injured people don't rate high enough to get basic medical care, when they have no medical insurance. These people can't read, so it would have been impossible for them to drive in Louisville, which is a good size city, and this hospital is downtown. I certainly would support a movement in this country for socialized medicine. It may take a lot longer to be seen, but at least they would have medical care provided for them.

Okay, off my soapbox.

Oz, I certainly agree with your assessment of the justice system as well. A local case where a man raped a 3 year old girl, and got 5 years probation. So many discrepancies in the way some are treated.

stgdot, HAPPY ANNIVRSARY. DH and I have been married 41 1/2 years. I agree with whoever made the comment, wedding rings will be rented. Almost there. I started to say make it harder to get married, but that wouldn't work, just have more living together.

Well, all of you have been busy, and I have read everything, but not gonna comment. Maybe I can get back in the groove tomorrow.

Welcome back CARAT! We missed you. Glad to hear that you got some things accomplished while there.

Well gonna go check some other forums, be back in awhile to start tomorrow's thread.

Hi "guys",

Before I forget (as I'm so good at it ), Happy Birthday tgif and very Happy Anniversary sgtdot (believe me, I know exactly what you mean about your DH not being continuously underfoot. The worst test of my marriage has been when my DH was unemployed and constantly in my way at my business.)

For those of you who have been asking about my DH's health. He went to the podiatrist again today and was told that he's coming along extremely well, he does not have to re-fill the prescription for the super-anti-biotics, BUT he's to stay off his feet for another two weeks. He's already suggesting that he should take a day or two in my store so that I can attend my poor neglected veggie garden, but I think not! If it should happen to be busy that day, he'd have to be on his feet much more than would be good for him. I can sympathize with the boredom of enforced inactivity though, so we'll see.

V-ann, I checked the local weather forecast and I guess that we will see some effects of the storm in the form of "possible showers" and "possible thunderstorms" for the next several days. I also checked the forecast for Rehoboth where Maria lives and it looked pretty much the same. I have a link for you that might help vis-a-vis your website. If you go to http://validator.w3.org/checklink and type in the URL of your site, it will check all the links and let you know if there's something amiss. Check the box that says to check links recursively and it should do all of your pages.

Hi, Carat! It's good to "see" you again. So sorry about your DH's back problems. I do hope he'll make a great recovery.

9kitty, hoping that your poor "baby" makes a full recovery! 3 of mine have appointments at the vet's this coming Monday. I'm sure I'll get yelled at for one of them at least. Miss Miceus is very overweight, but I swear she eats the least of any of them! Her problem is that she's a scaredycat and hardly moves at all from her favorite places on the bed or on a kitchen chair.

Sheila, sorry you still have the horrible weather! I'm not exactly thrilled about showers (and especially thunderstorms) every day for the near future, but I'll happily take it over the high heat and humidity any time!

Lauri, a ham steak, nuked potatoes, canned pineapple, and a frozen veggie is a quick meal that I often rely on. (Yeah, yeah, bad grammar --- I know it.) Pasta, jar sauce with a few added herbs, and sausage is another mainstay around here. I often cook during my days off and freeze half for later use. We tend to live on nuked leftovers for at least a couple of days each week.

Mary, I know exactly what you mean by those tickles that suddenly all seem to sprout legs! I've been getting a few ants in the store and if one runs across my foot, every time my skirt brushes across I'm looking for the bug.

darius, sorry about the problem batch of apples. Hopefully you'll still be able to enjoy them in one form or another.

I know that I haven't managed to respond to everyone, but I'm afraid that I'm getting drowsy. Have to get up early as usual tomorrow, so good night all!
