Butterfly bush ???

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

I took this pic because I can't find what is eating it. I have looked but don't see anything on the leafs or around or in the mulch. I am having a problem with the birds eating the leafs off my plants and rolly pollies eating the seeds (RP in a different thread) But as far as other bugs go, I can't find them.

Any clues as what to do to protect my bf bush?

Try misting one or two leaves with one spoon of Joy , Palmolive , or dish soap -not detergent .
Depending on water , soap , you [ lite spray / heavy spray - mist ] wind and mother nature - the plant could be hurt - reason for misting just one or 2 leaves .
A day or two later if the leaves are OK , do whole plant .
Spray early morning / or early evening .
If you have a dollar store , hardware , lowes , Home depot - close - you can buy a fly strip [ 3 or 4 in a package ]- the thing coiled in a tube you hang from clieling[ roof ] to catch flys - put 3 or 4 sticks in ground - wrap fly paper around /from one stick to another to catch bug for IDing . Also pull out of tube and lay on ground around plant .
You will catch some that are just around but maybe whats eating the plant .

Thanks, I would never have thought of the fly strips, and I have some too.
I use the joy and water spray, but with the rains we have been having lately, just isn't doing any good, It rained again early this morning :(

Thanks for the info.
