It was time.
Here's what happened last time

This is Green Envy - zinnia
What's growing - Part 5
Wow Al! That is soooooo neat! I have never seen anything like it.
It's not real big, I waited days to make sure it was open all the way - it is.
Al, maybe I've never looked at a zinnia that close, but it's really neat. looks like other kinds of tiny flowers inside. And the green color is cool, too. I had to look at it more than once. Now I'm going to go back and look at the white one you closed out the old thread with, too.

Nap - Thanks, do you have Ruby Tuesday helenium? I like helenium!
I don't know what that is, Al. Got a picture?
Mine's not blooming yet. It could be this
http://www.plantspotters.com/renderer.do/menuId/55153/sf/55173/returnPage/55173/itemId/10329/realItemId/10329/pageId/55173/instanceId/55244/pId/10329/clearState/true/
or something similar - either way you should send it to me for observation.
That sure looks a lot like it, but I found the tag and it says...."Echinacea purpurea Rubinstern".
"Dark carmine red flowers with a dark brownish heart are borne on 2 1/2 to 3' stems in July-August. Zones 3-8"
Al, Great Zinnia (green envy)
Nap, I like your different coneflower a lot.
Iris, beautiful shot of your garden, even with the wet willies. Truly gorgeous.
Dave
I'm beginning to like zinnias more and more - next year I think I'll wintersown a few more varieties. Great pics everyone!
Hey you got some of your dahlia now - cool.
My yellow ones have been open for a bit, but they are boring compared to these and yours!
Anita....the butterfly? With the pinkish background? It needs to be the largest picture in your collage. I think it is stunning!
But Al, although it certainly does look like Ruby Tuesday, I bought mine in June of 2004.
Here's a few of it from this morning. It's taller than RT (about 24") and not what I would call compact at all.
It might be a similar cultivar - there are a lot of helenium.
My red/gold sneezeweed is 6' + right now !
Very nice plant Nancy, I'll post my Ruby Tuesday when it flowers - I'm thinking a couple weeks.
Anita, great collage...it's nice to include the garden composition. I always like to see when these gorgeous flowers live. nap, whether that's a helenium (I know Al's pulling for the helenium) or not, it's a really neat flower. thanks for sharing the closeups.

Anita ~ Your flowers are beautiful! Is that a Hibiscus?(2nd pic. far left) Is it "Red Heart"? It looks like the one I just bought! Yours is gorgeous!!!!! Is it already blooming??? I can't wait until mine does. Love the bunny lounging, is trying to stay cool? LOL
Al ~ I'm in Love w/Twilight Time! What a beautiful color!
"Green Eyes Wink"
I am so impressed with some of the pics you guys/gals have of your gardens and
especially the quality of them. Kudos to Anita for her awesome photography and green thumb skills. I am growing Black-eyed susan vines from seed that I purchased from park seeds. They are getting huge( 2 Inches a day). Anyone have any luck growing them?
I will get a pic of them in a few days. http://www.parkseed.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&mainPage=prod2working&ItemId=1957&PrevMainPage=advsearchresults&scChannel=advsearchresults&SearchText=p13.Thunbergia&OfferCode=SH1
I have them growing too...in 2 places. One is in a hanging basket and the other is in the ground in front of a trellis.
Thanks everyone - Pixie, the hibiscus is Rose of Sharon - I have no idea the name as it is a weed in my yard-I'm not kidding-I literally have to pull hundreds of seedlings out every year. That particular tree has to be 20 something years old.
Gram ~She's doing a good job guarding them by the looks of those beauties! As for those daylilies, the one on the bottom left looks like "Frans Hals" here is the link. http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/28858/index.html
Anita ~ Lucky you! Im sure you don't feel so lucky pulling out all those seedlings, but to have a Rose of Sharon for 20 years is amazing! The tag on my bush looks just like your picture and they call it "Red Heart Rose of Sharon". Is your tree big? I have only seen one bush turned tree-size here in Maine and i'm about to stop at that persons house and ask how she did it!
My Rose of Sharon is about 20 feet. I have several varieties, none of which do I know the names. I have pure white, purple and white, magenta and white, purple and magenta...I'll have to take a few more pics...
Well, I'm done with yard work for the day - too hot and humid.
