Coffe and for July 10, 2006
I found an early picture of the toad when he was over hanging around in my pond. That was last March. He hasn't grown not one bit, so I feel better, he is not the Bufo frog.
I went to town earlier to take packages to the post office and get food for my parrots and some office supplies. I went to Office Max. Will I never learn????? There is never anyone on the floor to help you out and their product lines for paper and business card blanks is totally boring........white, off white and white.
When I was in Lauderdale I did all my business supply shopping at Office Depot. Well, it's farther than Office Max, but I went there anyway and got everything I needed, exactly like I wanted it. Purple paper and mottled pastels card stock.
Meezers, buying clothes at this time of my life is impossible. All those regular dockers with a waist high waistband and no pleats is totally out of style. And my Murphy is out of control so the only way I can go is with elastic waistbands and Dave's Garden T-shirts. Until I get over the big M where I can get control of this thing. Now ladies don't make me feel bad by laughing at me. Let me have my little dream. k?
Molly
I can sympathize with the elastic waistband style issues! With the hormones for the fertility treatments, my weight varies by a good 15 pounds from water retention, and it's all at my midsection -- I know it's just a minor annoyance, but aaaargh! sometimes. Well, if I wear my tops untucked (and not short enough to show bellybutton), nobody can tell if my waistband is unfashionable elastic or fashionably low-riding, right? Right??? LOL, don't spoil my illusion (delusion?) on this one. I do like those lightweight swingy skirts with elastic waistbands.... :-)
Darius, free mulch!! Woohooo!
Prayers for McCool's DH, and for safe travels for Maria, and hoping Twyla can get something done for her poor teeth!
I think I may finally have shaken the migraine that's been lurking and bugging me since Friday, so I'm going to do something! LOL, I'm not sure what to tackle first, probably won't be anything too ambitious... maybe get moving on that pot of curry I promised DH this week.
Hope everyone is having a lovely evening!
Darius, the office is looking gooood!! That chair looks especially comfy.
Molly, glad your toad turned out to be a good one. They are great to have in a garden, wish I had him here. Rosey, who never learns, had to be washed out two weeks ago. She can smell them out no matter how deep they bury up.
Pati
Folks, this has been a completely wasted day. Had to go to the post office, then run an errand in the opposite direction, so stopped by a friend's house, to see her daylilies in bloom. I think she said she had 1500. Well DGD and I were walking around and we were seeing some we wanted, so was trying to remember names, and finally, DGD said, I think I will go back to the car and get pencil and paper. She wrote down a page and a half, names of daylilies to wish for, buy, beg or whatever. Then came home and vacuumed the pool, then out to weed. Came in for a glass of tea, and a cousin and his wife dropped in. They stayed for an hour and half, and then I just piddled. So I have accomplished almost nothing today. Grrr I hate days like this. I was gonna get so much done, so I could get back to canning. Not happening.
I fixed a really good supper, green beans, mashed potatoes, fried apples, bbq ribs, and corn on the cob. DGD said she never got meals like that at home!! So now the kitchen is cleaned, so I am gonna head out to finish weeding that bed I started on this morning.
DH did a really stupid thing this afternoon, came in around 4:00, and went out to the pool, phone in hand, put it on the rail of the deck, and while watering plants there, gave it a good shower too. Needless to say it is not working now, hope it dries out and holds on a little longer. If not, there goes another chuck of unbudgeted money for a phone.
Will be back later.
defoecat-The hazards of cordless phones and cell phones!! I hope you can get it to work again. Your "wasted" day is like my busy one...LOL...I took a nap today, it's hazy and in the 80's. just making salads for dinner. I did get some weeding done, and we picked up the surrey and got it stored away again.
critter-glad your migraine's on the mend...didn't know you suffered from those.
Molly- glad your toad's not a bad one. We don't have such things up here, all toads are good (not all are princes however)
hope-I hope your teeth are not hurting so much. Blessings to you!
ves-Hi! I haven't met you, but you're a zone 4 person too. My peas are brown and shriveled on the vines by now, although i picked about 15 lbs.
Mary-crewing sounds like fun, I'd love seeing the riders come in and passing out treats to the horses!
Hi~~ to all else, I have to get to the stove!!
Back from the lunch bash - it was a strange lunch. Talk about a mismash of food- someone brought a store tub of potato salad, three people brought dips, one a plate of different crackers, some trail mix, my brownies and two ice cream pies and salsa... Of course I ate everything, but sure missed a decent meal....Had my ice cream in the pies tho!! LOL
Got home, set the sprinklers and went over to DS to water his flowers, feed his cats and get his mail - now I'm home again and bushed!!!
Oh here's a good one. Remember we caught coon number 10 and 11 overnight. Well later on this morning I was going out to set the sprinkler and low and behold there were two more coons out by the cherry tree. I made a mad dash over to my neighbors and made signs like 'shooting' He ran and got his gun - one coon scampered away, but he got the mother coon which had climbed the cherry tree - #12 is history. We have both traps set for tonight. I cannot believe how many there are this year!
Where is Maria going- I must have missed something..
PG DIL came over - she came home from work sick today - migraine and losing her cookies- a bad combo...Poor kid - they were heading to Arby's as she said she had no energy to cook a thing.
M5- I've got a deal for you. I love to do laundry - you love windows-===trade??? I still have some that have't gotten the once over yet.
I tried out my timer sprinkler and I think it will work!! The only thing is you must set it in 15 min increments- 30 min was too much to do daily, so I'll try shorten it to 15 min. I'll probably come home to drowned plants!!
Mary, your weekend sounded fun to me. I'd like preparing the horsey food and people food. Much better than on horseback for me!
Talk about clothing styles... I still have a ton of peg leg jeans - just can't part with them- they have a lot of wear in them - plus a high waist!! I do have a couple of pair of flares with a low waist, but I fear I will have plumbers buns when I wear them. Also have several rolls that look like extra tires around the middle. Sucking it in is too much trouble and a girdle- NO WAY!! I even tossed out all my panty hose... I have a friend who swears by those one piece undergarments. I tried one and thought I'd die- how could I get it off in time to use the ladies room!!
Well, I need to talk to DH about some food - he said macaroni salad sounded good to him - told him to go to the deli and pick some up!!
DEFO---- Just how old are you. ?????? Geeezzzz! You run around like your about 20 yrs old.
Sarv,
Maria is off to the Pacific Northwest to visit with Eweed.
Peg leg jeans, brings to mind a pirate with a parrot.
Going to dig something out to eat now.,
Molly
:^)))
well today was not a good day ... not at all. had my first pt appointent and now have a splint on my arm. can not find my caps key ... and none of the other fancy keys. I did get a cortesone shot and ultrasound which I think will help when it stops hurting. can not type like this very much. waving to everyone.
hugs and night night.
Oz, old enough to know better about most things. I've got a 41 year old son if that gives you a clue!! LOL. I turned 59 in March. I still have plenty of energy, and accomplish most all my yard, garden and house work, myself, (as if I ever had any paid help.) I have been retired since Jan, 2000, and just love it.
Just got in from weeding that bed, and watered everything. They are saying rain for tonight and tomorrow, but since the are wrong more often than not, I watered anyway. Went to the garden and got a 5 gallon bucket of beets to can tomorrow.
Sorry everybody, it is one of those days that I am reading and not remembering, so fear commenting, as it could be the wrong event to the wrong person. But know that I have read everything.
BBL
I01, dang that cortisone shot sure hurts. But you are right, it will feel better when it stops hurting. Hugs to you, and hope that the shot and pt helps heal that arm soon.

Twyla
(((Elaine))) I'm sorry you're in such pain with that arm! Praying that you have a restful night and much less trouble with it tomorrow!
Sarv, it sounds like your coons outnumber the bunnies we had last year -- a dozen raccoons! That's a lot to trap & otherwise remove.
Well, I'm feeling really macho tonight, because *sing-song* I fixed the dishwasher! I fixed the dishwasher!! It's been broken (not draining) since last week, and DH decided he didn't want to deal with it and would rather just pay the repair guy. Well, first Sears was supposed to send somebody between 1 & 5, the guy didn't call until 7, and he turned out to be the fridge guy, didn't know squat about dishwashers. Then I started calling repair places around town, one place isn't returning calls, one isn't picking up their phone, one called back to say he was out of town for 2 weeks, one picked up to say they were closed for business this week, and one had a message saying there had been a family thing and they'd be closed for a number of days. Wow! That was when I decided to see if I could get the dishwasher pulled out myself, and I just started disconnecting things until I found the blockage. Yay! I decided DH's contribution could be hooking it all back up again, which he did when he came home this evening. I turned the water and electricity back on, and we ran a test cycle -- all better! I'm so proud, LOL.
Twyla, so sorry you had a bad day again with that infection! Can't remember -- are you at least taking antibiotics to try to get it to clear up a little? If not, please call your doctor or dentist for a prescription and get in to see somebody asap... infections like that can be very dangerous, and I'm worried about you!
I'm trying to think if there are any home remedies that might give you some relief... I've used clove oil, which I think is antibacterial as well as being a topical analagesic. Rinsing with a little hydrogen peroxide or baking soda in the water wouldn't be a bad thing either. But nothing like that is going to do much for a deep abscess. I hate that you're suffering so!
Hi again everyone,
Okay, before anything else, hope, you have to get those teeth out! I'm not surprised that you're feeling sick --- you are probably being poisoned from the inside out. Please don't wait any longer to get some help. I had thought earlier that we might be able to take up some sort of collection so that you could get it taken care of, but thought that it would take too long and that you would get the medical attention that you need. Obviously this has not been the case. I'm not in great financial shape myself, but I think that I could scrape up $5.00 or $10.00 to throw into the "pot". What do the rest of you think?
critter, yeah for you! That's a great feeling, isn't it? So glad that you were able to fix the problem yourself.
Bonnie, thanks for calling. Mondays aren't complete now without a chat with you! Hope your DGD's friend isn't TOO needy. "Watch me swim!", "Watch me dive!", "pay attention to me at all times" can get old really quickly! LOL!
I01, so sorry for the pain you're going through! I've been lucky enough to have avoided those shots so far. I do hope that you feel better very soon. As far as the carpal tunnel syndrome goes, I've been using the splints that you can get at CVS (and I'm sure they're available at other places too.) at night. It takes a little while to get used to them, but they do really help. Without them, I'm sure that I would be awoken by the pain and/or numbness in my hands. I also use Handeze fingerless gloves on my left hand (which is more affected than the right) during the day. They do help.
Mary, it sounds as though you've been even busier this time than when you're actually riding the trail! I know you've done an excellent job and am sure that your teammates appreciate it.
Molly, so glad that your resident toad is not one of the nasty type! I've run across a few toads of various sizes and some garter snakes in my garden and am always very glad to see them. There are loads of dragonflies in the garden this year as well. Today I saw one that was almost a flourescent lime green and black, flitting around in there. It's a good thing since all the wet weather has given us a bumper crop of mosquitos. (I've heard that dragonflies eat them. GO DRAGONFLIES!) That reminds me --- tonight I saw two fireflies out in the yard. Usually I see them in May or June and had thought that they must all have drowned in the monsoons this year. They're very late but very welcome!
sarv, I love to read your posts, but can't think of a reply at the moment. CRS strikes again! Good luck to you and your poor PG DIL.
I've been summoned upstairs a little while ago and really should go keep DH company, so I'll just ~~~~~~~~~~ to everyone else for now and try to post a better response tomorrow.
Oh yeah, before I go, just wanted to let you know, Sheila, that one out of the three Valerian plants seems to be doing well. The cats(I suspect Mr. Slim as I had to yell at him today for digging in that vicinity) dug up one before it could get established and something, (bugs, I think) ate another one down to the stem. Hopefully the one that's left will flourish and produce offspring.
Good night Gracie
Hi everyone. I have read all and too tired to comment on each just that everyone has been busy. I hope those who need the rain get it in gentle showers. I can just remember Ann have a great trip and take lots of pictures and Sarv you are my hero...I need ice cream....Twyla you really need to get a prescription for antibiotics ASAP. Hope you are feeling better in the morning, I'll have an ice cream bar for ya...
I got the bathroom floor leveled yesterday with the skim coat stuff, and then put on the adhesive this morning and laid the lineolium(sp) tile squares today. NOTE...open bathroom window when using the adhesive....oh and don't wipe your forehead or you will stick to your self and your bangs..
I still have to do the base boards but here is what it looks like going in.
I must go get out the goof off and de-adhesive my self. ~~~~~'s to all and nite nite......Lauri
Elaine, I'm sure if one survives, next year you will have twenty. I started with two. Now I'm thinning almost daily. I suppose they are tasty, I understand you can make tea from them, but it was the scent that got me interested. Also, you have dmail.
Susan Elaine, the cortisone will help once the injection site recovers from the shot, but be sure to do your PT. Hope it feels much much better very soon.
Critter, GOOD FOR YOU! It must be wonderful to have so much business that you can put off your customers for indefinite periods of time...I absolutely detest having to call a repair person for anything! If you can even get one, you have to sit all day and wait for them.
Sarv, I don't have a single pair of pantyhose left either! I don't even know what size I'd have to get if I needed to buy some! Really feel for your DIL, she must be miserable. I made a big dinner tonight...but Popeye's helped a lot. LOL I made the mashed potatoes and the corn, but the chicken, biscuits and gravy came right from Popeye's and DH's wallet. BIL has been on his best behavior...but I'm still wary. Experience has taught me that he will revert to type at some point.
Twyla, get some antibiotics and get your butt to the dentist!!! Your teeth are making you sick and it will only get worse. Tell them you need a payment plan, but GO sooner rather than later!!
~~~to all, time for bed, wishing good luck to Bonnie with her daily setup.
Night George,
Sheila
Well guys, I have just sat down long enough to read this thread and catch up with everyone's day just as a new one is about to start. Got a big kick out of the clothing discussion. I have tried a pair or two of the low rise jeans and my DH told me the last time that if I didnt pull them up he would give me a wedgie!!!! The nerve!! LOL! I could NOT stop laughing. Needless to say that was the last time those were worn. I am currently into loose fitting capri pants most of the time. Today was my 1st day back at work since my surgery to remove the wisdom teeth last week. Sure was exhausting. Got home from work, watered the gardens, fixed dinner for the DH and kids, took shower, getting ready for tomorrow. Good to see everyone is doing well.
Katy
Somehow, despite instructions from I01, kittymom, kooger, M5, Darius, etc, etc, etc, I still can't post this link. Ya'll just go to parking lot, and find the July 11, thread!
