I ran into this very cool website today.
Seems there is a market for teeny tiny real plants for those who create teeny tiny landscapes!
Makes me want to build a fairy garden with houses and real trees and shrubs!

I had no idea!
What a fun site! Several I saw would be wonderful additions to my rock garden. Thanks!
How cute! I've always said I was going to put in a tiny fairy garden for my little granddaughter with little benches and chairs. I already have two tiny fairy statues. This site will give me some good ideas. Thanks for posting it. ;)

Ah, you've hit on another one of my hobbies -- miniatures. I've not done anything with live plants because I work in 1/144 scale (it's the size of the dollhouse that would go in a regular dollhouse... iow, if your dollhouse dolls had a dollhouse) so plants are about the size of dust. ;)
I did do a fairy house though with dried items: http://www.microjivvy.com/fairyhouse.html
I have wondered if some of nor'east's mico-miniature roses would make suitable bouquets for dollhouse size (1/12), but haven't ordered any yet to check it out.
OMG ! How cute ShelfLife!
I would love to see your work. I don't know if I could work as small as you do- started needing the old reading glasses a couple of years ago and I am always looking for them even though I have several pair! I get frustrated and try to squint my way thru and then get a headache. I hate getting old! I 've got some ideas for some little bit larger scale stuff for outdoors, I've been "dreaming" them up for a while now. I was so happy to find the live plants to go with.
Hi DanceyTx!
I have my 2yr old Grandaughter with me for about 50 hrs a week, and then after she leaves each day and on the weekends I 've been working in the yard. My "miniature land" will have to wait a bit longer. As you know a 2yr old would probably destroy them anyway as at this age everything gets manhandled during exploration and needs to be tough. I can hardly wait till she's a little older and boy are we going to have fun with miniatures!
I love miniatures. Now that I have my own house I'd like to get more into it, especially the tiny textiles.
But I, too, have trouble with the "old" eyes. Getting old sucks, but then, consider the alternative.
Oh my, I hadn't even thought of the textiles!
White_Hydrangea.. got any links to those tiny textiles?
I have sewn for years, (not much lately). I am a retired costume designer and have made many a quilt and well you name it. Seems once someone knows you sew you get all kind of requests, LOL! I never have done anything with tiny prints for miniatures or dolls though.
This could be really fun, I have to get some of those!
>>I am a retired costume designer
We REALLY have to get together sometime -- I have a bachelor's degree in theatre. ;)
Hi Shellabella! My little granddaughter is three now. She's old enough now to be a little more careful with things. My plan for a fairy garden is miniature but not 'wee' miniature. It would be fun planning!
I kept my gd too for a long time. My dd had to go back to work when the baby was six wks old so we kept her a whole lot. We have such a bond with this child. ;) She loves to come and stay with us and we still keep her pretty often. My gardens had to be on the back burner while I was keeping my baby. I have had major work going on in the gardens now that I have more time.
Yes, you two need to get together sometime. I see you both live in the same town. How fun!

Lin,
I do love so much taking care of my little gd too. I do most of my garden work on the weekend or weekdays after she leaves while there is still some light in the evening. Little by little! I hope we can keep in touch and send pics of our respective fairy towns/gardens when the're done.
I grew up in Tx down in the Rio Grande Valley. My Dad still lives there and I heard one of my old friends might still live in Midland not sure, haven't spoken in years. I really do miss Texas: the best steaks anywhere, lots of horses and being able to see nothin but land clear to the horizon. I was what you might call a "creative tomboy " growing up.
I sent Claire a D mail - would like to get together with her one of these days soon.
Michelle
