McCool , Ernine did not say much of anything, he should not have deleted it it was clever I thought and funny, he just was teasing Bonnie,
So sorry about your DH, I find it very strange that no one before could have at least told him what the trouble might be, it should be up to him to make a decision what to do next.
I found my favorite cherries today, they are vey pale in colour cream and red, do not know the name , had them growing up and am always so pleased when I see them in a market here, they usually do not last very long.

Maria ... I too thought Ernie was tooo funny, and I'm sure Bonnie was teasing him back. LOL

Suzie, I hope you have a nice week-end. Sounds like you have a busy one in store!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Wow, I've got some catching up to do. Gorgeous day, got a little fertilizing done, potted some slips I picked up somewhere (I do volunteer pruning at the garden shops!) think it's a bridal veil. Went to see Pirates with DH this afternoon and absolutely loved it! The special effects were excellent, Johnny Depp was charmingly naughty, and you know at the end there will be another one. It was long, 2 and a half hours! They had a midnight show here last night too but by midnight I'm asleep. Probably would have slept through it!

Great floor color Darius, so cool and refreshing! I could live with that color for a long while. And tomorrow is Farmer's market and rummage, I wanna go toooooo. Sunday my BIL is showing up to pick up the van DH had given him, which he drove up here with the car he wanted DH to sell. Gave the van back to DH, who was going to sell his truck, the gas hog, and fix up the van to use for hauling stuff. Well, now BIL has changed his mind and wants it back so that plan is kaput. Wish I could make DH jump at my command the way his half brother can. Also means I have to change linens in the guest room because there is no way he is sleeping on my good sheets. I suppose he feels sorry for the guy, because he is such a mess. Sorry for venting, but you know how I feel about him.

McCool, I think they operate on a diffferent scale if people are uninsured, because they think they will have a problem collecting. When they see the opportunity to make money, they hop right on it. Medical expenses are way out of control, mostly due to insurance companies. There was such a fuss about reducing the amount people could collect for medical malpractice, and then I saw some statistics about how few truly large settlement are actually made. It was not big enough news to make the front pages though, they only like to publish bad news as that is what sells in the media. LOL at Dust with a shovel...the only time I even notice dust is in spring and fall when the sun starts coming in at that low angle...so now you know I dust twice a year whether it needs it or not!

Pizza for dinner sounds good to me. Might run down the road and pick one up instead of cooking. I have to clean out my freezer too, in spite of my good intentions, things are getting lost in the back. I had to throw out a whole bag of ice because it was taking up too much room. Store had a sale on frozen sea food...

Sarv, I never pierce the crust on a fruit pie, they always leak through. If I make a shell for a fruit pie I don't peirce that either, I use pie weights or dried beans over a layer of parchment paper, and then remove them for the last five minutes or so. Keeps the crust from poofing up. Sometimes I even brush the crust with butter before I put the filling in, just to keep it from getting soggy. No matter how you do it, the pie always tastes good! So, I'll just have a teeny slice............LOL

Vickie, I went to school in Superior, and high school in Solon Springs, which isn't all that far from Eau Claire. Straight up Hwy 53. Went back there for my 50th reunion two years ago. Hasn't changed much.

Maria, I don't think I made your coffee cake, but it sounds so good. We seldom have breakfast at home, DH grabs a bagel or something to go with his yogurt at work, and on Sunday we go out for breakfast, so I hardly ever bake for morning. Some mornings I eat breakfast so late it passes for lunch. I think those are Queen Anne cherries, the cream colored ones with just a little pink on them, but I'm not sure.

I'm trying very hard not to stop at any more nurseries or gardens shops. I still have money left on the gift card my DD gave me but I want to get a potting bench of some kind for outside. DH said he was going to build one for me but that didn't happen. The plastic ones are pretty ugly, but I'm afraid a metal/wood one wouldn't hold up well. I can always move it into the garage in winter, so I guess I'll just wait and see what's out there when they start unloading all the summer stuff that didn't sell. I still have half a dozen sedum to put in somewhere....they are probably root bound by now.

Here's what my littlest angel was doing today. Such fun to bat my little hummer around from the top tier of the cat tree. Doesn't she look guilty?

Probably won't be back tonight, so I'll see y'all tomorrow!
~~~ing to anyone I didn't answer or comment to...CRS
McCool - your story makes we doubly glad that I'm in Canada where EVERYONE has health coverage. It's not perfect, but is a whole lot better than what I've heard of in the US.
Am going out to garden a bit - haven't done any all week with the kiddies here. DH is off to pick up a new table and chairs for our porch. We had the VW Golf with two kiddy seats in the back when we bought them earlier. He can fold down the seats in my car.
When I come in and clean up, I'll go back over what's happened to you all yesterday and today.
I'm back. Started to do the peaches and realized I don't have enough kitchen tools nor containers like for cooling the peaches after slipping the skins. All that stuff is 5 miles away in a storage unit and the @#%^^&* spring on the door is broken so I cannot get it open by myself. Maybe my new neighbor will help me tomorrow.
Mike got about 20 feet approaching the spring cleared, not enough, but he will be back. That area hasn't been cleared nor cleaned up for many years. My camera battery died and I cannot find the charger, so no pics yet. Maybe tomorrow when I am fresher I can locate the charger.
My Weather Alert radio seems to have died. Only 2 years old, a Radio Shack product. I have also have had 2 Radio Shack wind-up radios in 3 years and the wind-up part on both died within 2-3 months. Surely someone else makes better products?
My sister is sending me a base weather station with 2 wireless remotes so I can start to chart the temps and humidity in the spring house and the rooot cellar. She also bought us a top of the line vacuum sealer for foods. Should have both soon!
Sorry I cannot keep up with everyone and post aqppropriately.
Well, it has been a long long tiring day. The count at this point of the day is 28 quarts of green beans, a cleaned out freezer, and supper. Strawberries waiting to be made into preserves. That may have to wait until the morning.
Forgot to mention that we are doing a fish fry tomorrow night, so we will be breading fish tomorrow morning, and mixing the hush puppies. The fish fry is at 6:00, but we will be at the church at 4:00, and then there is a concert at 7:00. This is a good group, so the church will likely be full. Looks like tomorrow will be a full day too.
DH picked 5 more buckets of beans this afternoon, his oldest sister is coming tomorrow morning to get them to can. I asked him if he couldn't find some more for her to take home,(that's so I don't have to can them).
Ernie, I have worried all day that I may have hurt your feelings. Please do not take offense, I was joking, and meant no harm at all. I talked to Maria about it, and she said you probably weren't mad, but it is not my intent ever to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone mad. So if you are offended, please accept my sincerest apologies.
McCool, hope Mike soon gets this illness behind him. That is serious business, and tell him that he needs to follow all doctor's directions to the t. My mother had the cellulitis, and it was forever getting it cleared up.
Okay everyone else, I have read it all,, but cannot comment, as I have a canner of beans to take off, and my mind has turned to mush.
I will be back later to start the thread (or try to start the thread). I think I know what I did wrong last night, and will try to avoid it tonight. By the end of July this will probably be the biggest joke on all of Dave's Garden. I am stubborn, and I refuse to give up, I am like the little engine who could, I think I can, I think I can, etc etc,etc.
~~~~ to all.

Jammies on and ready to hit the couch (DH is watching the crappy wrestling, so I can play on here with no interruption!!) Cherry pie was delish, although way too juicy!! I called my neighbor who gave me the recipe and she says she always pokes the bottom crust no matter what kind of pie she is making. Mine did seep thru a little, but it was still good. I think her crust recipe will replace mine now!! It was way easier than the one I usually make.

Folks came out for a piece of pie and two games of rummycube -had a great time as usual.

defoe- you entertain more than anyone I know - always doing fish fries!! I wish I was more like that. I did so much entertaining when I was younger and no one in my family picked up the ball and will do it, so we rarely get together anymore. But enough was enough for me.!! We used to hang around with a big group of couples, but someone that went kaput too. When we see each other we always say 'let's get everyone together again' - but no one wants to take the bull by the horns- I sure don't!!

Darius, did you have one of those wind up radios like the wind up flashlights? I've always wanted one, but if Radio Shacks are no good, I will pass on it. I saw one at Best Buy - it was over $100 bucks and I wasn't sure it was worth it.. Hooray for your sis getting those new things for you - almost like Christmas!!

doc and dentist have two different payment schedules depending on insurance/no insurance. I think it is a crock...won't go into it as I am sure it is political!!

Mc - I had cellulitis once - it is nothing to play with. I had it in my face and I've never seen docs move so fast!! They too told me it could be deadly - especially so close to my brain (and where was my DH??? = in Canada fishing!!)

Time to hit the couch - tomorrow will be a big day - hot and humid and I am going to a garden tour an hour away.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I'm back. I'm washed - though my hair has gone bushy. (Hair dresser will be told to fix it or I'm looking elsewhere when I get it cut next week). We got one side of the new garden edged with leftover pavers which we had around. It will continue the stonework line up towards the house, use up those stonesm and provide a mowing edge. Tomorrow, maybe we'll get the other side done.

Now I'm heading back to yesterday's thread, though I must say "Bravo" to Bonnie for getting the new threads started. If you can sort out the link problem, you'll be all set. Meanwhile, it works with someone else posting the link.

Sarv - did you get all the errands done yesterday? It was quite a list.

Maria - we all enjoy hearing from you even if you think you have nothing to tell. And I guess we all worry a bit if we don't hear from you fairly regularly. You're an important member of the coffee klatch.

critter - I love your "Man Triumphs Over Computer" story. Wish you were MY neighbour, delivering chocolate cakes.

Suzie - that really is wild about New Jersey being shut down. I thought our mosquitoes would be bad this evening but once I covered myself in insect repellent, I didn't even see another for the evening. I do know that the city is using larvacide in the storm sewers because of West Nile Virus which has appeared the last couple of years and everyone is panicking.

Mary, I grew up in New York State and we always welcomed new neighbours with baked goods. I've carried it on in my own neighbourhood, but not always. Haven't always had the time to do the baking.And, I guess neighbourhoods change a bit faster than they did at one time. I saw cherried in the store a day or two ago, but didn't get any yet. Must do so.

Sheila - I loved the Sammy and Olivia picture.

Elaine - good luck with the physio for the bursitis.

Bonnie - nice picture before the dog show.

Sarv - glad your MIL has you to run interference with the Drs for her. Too bad about the digital camera. I also hope they take care of yours. In regard to the aches and pains, you might want to note it on a calendar and also keep a record of what the weather was like at the time and maybe even a day or so later. Japanese Beatles are one thing I don't miss in Canada. We had them in the Rochester, NY area when I was growing up, but I've never seen one here. Maybe just a bit too cold for them.

Darius - you still make me tired with all that you do. But I'm glad you are making progress at getting settled.

katym - are you new? If so, tell us about yourself. (Or maybe you did - I'm still on yesterday's thread). Anyway, I sure hope you recover well from having those wisdom teeth out.

Hope - you are important enough to get those teeth taken care of. Is there a dental school near you? They would likely do it free or less expensively. Bonnie is correct about the ossibility of a serious infection.

Bonnie - I've heard of Coho Salmon.

Hi to Oz, Molly and anyone else I didn't directly address. That takes me to the bottom of yesterday's thread. Today's might have to wait until tomorrow.

If I don't get back, all have a good night.

Ann

Thanks Ann, I appreciate what you said!

This is the front yard, could not resist taking a photo just before the sun went down, it was such a beautiful day, only 70' I call it Camelot weather

Thumbnail by Maria
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Maria, that is so beautiful. I guess I was so intent on seeing you, that I looked, saw it, and promptly forgot it!

Viann, So good that you got out to do that edging. I am going to be a little late in getting your weeding done, I am up to the eyeballs with canning green beans, I didn't even get a garden walk today.

Sarv, we love to entertain, and with a fish fry, and the rest pot luck,it's not much trouble. This is being done at the church, with AC, and the latest in kitchen gadgetry. Probably will have about 50-60 people. (this is a way to free up freezer space), getting those fish out of the freezer is making more room for corn, lima beans, etc. We are having another one in August, DM's church group, at our house, and one in September which is the grandaddy of them all. We invite, friends, family, neighbors, and usually have 80 plus there. We have to rent a facility to have this one. Why don't you share that pie crust recipe. I hate to make the pastry, but don't mind the rest. If it is easier to do than mine, I am all for it.

Well the final tally on green beans for the day is 28 quarts. Just took the last of them off. Next week, I will can some more for DMIL. I still have beets to do, and then the corn, lima beans, etc.etc.etc.

DGD and I got in the pool tonight about 8:30. It was sort of chilly, as our temps the past few days have hovered about 80, and of course the sun had gone down by the time we got in. Sarv, just wanted to let you know that the
type of filter and chemical distribution system is working fine. We only run the pump about 10 hours a day, and the water is testing perfectly. And the robotic vacuum, is so efficient and easy. I usually do that at night, just throw it in and it works all night, and the pool is sparkling clean in the morning.

Well, as I am DOG TIRED, tonight, I will try starting the thread a little before midnight. You know a big day tomorrow as well.

To any I missed, I have read everything, and am ~~~ frantically to each.

Well, think I'm going to turn in for the night. got up with the DH today and I'm beat. Y'all know me ...an early bird I'm not! LOL

Bonnie, great job on the new daily! Knew you could do it. See I told you that you had just gotten toooo frantic last night. :-) Well, I'll say night night and am ~~~ to all.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, I made progress, got the daily started, but can't do the hyperlink to get you there.

I01, help!!

Okay ... hang on!

Here ya go ...
