Coffee...and for July 7, 2006

Don't harrass me, I am still learning!! I am working on it.
We came from overhere ...
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/623486/
Thanks I01, I don't know what I did wrong tonight. I am getting embarrased about this. But I will take all the help I can get at this point.
eweed, no offense meant, I want to learn to do this, but my klutzy side must have taken over permanent residence! LOL.
Bonnie, I will give him a good kick for you when I see him..:-)))
I think oz will want to take his turn at posting the dailies --right oz??
I tossed and turned and decided to get up - it was just after 2am!! Oh man, I hate it when that happens!!! Aspen (our cat) is sitting on the arm of the chair purring- she is trying to make up to me - she barfed 2 x's - about 6 different puddles and on the carpeting....grrr Good thing I found it before I stepped in it! Ugh...
A skunk has sprayed outside. I told DH he probably caught it in the live trap. Now how in the world will he release it without getting sprayed LOL oh well, not my problem!
Computer assistance needed: Oftentimes when I type, I hit something I think with my left hand that deletes what I have typed. I cannot find the button (?) to restore it. I've searched and searched for something. On my old mac I could hit 'undo' and it would revert -but cannot find anything on this new machine. If anyone has a clue, I'd be appreciative..
I had to find my memory stick for the camera my DIL is borrowing and recharge the batteries too. Now that I have that chore done, I probably could hit the hay again...when there's something on my mind, I might as well get up and take care of it as I know sleep will not come!!
Well, off to cruise the forums..see ya in the morning!
Still up. Just heard a loud metal clang- something is in the live trap!! Then the neighbor's dog took up barking and barking and barking and I heard the trap clang - over and over. Now the dog is a big dog, so it cannot be that in the trap. Now I smell skunk-again!!! Oh glory,,,,DH will be ticked...
dog is still barking....daylight cannot come too soon...
Am up for real now and went out to see what was in the trap - big coon!! And the trap had been moved about 10 feet from where it was. Crazy. It got caught in the neighbor's trap, so he gets to dispose of it- I'm just waiting for the big bang...
Where is everyone?? in the sack yet?
No Sarv not in the sack, been up since before 6, just slow moving. Very cool here and am spending a day at home trying to figure out what day it is!!
We have a problem with coons, wood chucks and squirrels and 'bang' is the answer here if they get too pesky! My dad takes them for a ride, he lives in a small town.
DS went to the midnight showing of Johnny Depp's latest "Pirates" movie last night and is moving mighty slow this morning. He got home a little before 3, short night. Not for me!
Elaine, take care of that shoulder!! Not fun. Some one asked me about my surgery a while ago and I am not sure if I responded, CRS! If you want info just dmail me. I was thankful for it and that arm is fine now.
Mary, I am sure that your team will appreciate your work as support. You seem to be such a hard worker. Maybe this extra time will put both your babie in great shape for the next ride.
Bonnie, I appreciate you learning how to keep this thread going, I know you will/have get the hang of it. Elaine, thank you for the help you have given Bonnie and for your stint last month.
Well, I am either off for a nap or going to get busy. Wonder which it will be.
A corner in front of the house.
Joy
Sarv,
I too was up in the wee hours. Snowy was restless and had to go. I tried to ignore here, but then my conscience was keeping me awake. I had no choice but to get up and let 2 of the 3 dogs out. Then I lay there awake after I won't hear Baby's cry to get back in.
Well, not sure how late I stayed up, I don't keep a clock in the bedroom. That would've really driven me crazy to see a clock and sleep time ticking away.
There was a lovely thunderstorm last might after I hit the bed. It's still drizzling a bit, on and off outside. Makes for a wonderful day. Those kwansos and petunias loved it I know.
I get to meet GardenGlory today. She lives about 10 miles down the road from me. I am really looking forward to it.
Well better feed the dogs and birds and do the garden walk. BBL
Molly
:^)))
Morning, GOB's. I've been up almost an hour, dressed in jeans instead of shorts and still cold. I've been sleeping with all the windows open because of paint fumes but last night closed most of them. About 4 am I had to get up and find a second blanket. Brrrr... Low was 52º.
I'm off to the dump later. Hope Mike gets here early to start the clean-up of the spring overflow. It has watercress in the pool, which can be cleaned out as it re-seeds. Lots of branches hang all over it. Mr. Slow won't be here until mid afternoon.
Have a great day!
edited to add the low temp.

Joy, grandkids going to see the movie today. Did your son enjoy it?
Grrrrr! I had a nice long post and responded to everyone. I was previewing my post and like a dummy forgot where I was ... hit the wrong key and just closed out the entire page! Think I'll get my book and go back to bed. Obviously it's tooo early for me to be up! LOL
I did say bye to Mary and sorry both your horses are out of comission this time. Hope you have a good trip anyway.
sarv, glad the critter is in the neighbor's trap! LOL
Joy, yes I intend to be very careful with my arm. I probably pushed it too long as I hate doctors but am finding out that I'd better pay attention to what he said.
Bonnie, you don't need to be embarrissed about the thread starting. If the link doesn't work ... you can edit your post as many times as you need to. You don't have to start another day ... of course if you screw up the subject like I did ... you can't edit that!!! LOL I'm sure if I've already gone to bed any of our gabbers will be glad to post the link for you. We can all find the daily in parking lot without it anyway. It certainly won't keep me from talking!!! :-)
Okay Ernie and Maria ... y'all be nice!! LOL Maria ... you *can not* kick a DG member or beat up on him. LOL I think that's against DG policy somewhere.
Okay, now I'm going to get me a good book and go back to bed. Haven't done that in a looong time!
morning everyone! i'm new and this is the first time i've been here. got up at5:30. was making a pot of coffee looked out the front window and there was a deer in the yard under one of the apple trees. looked alittle more and saw another one in the field by the driveway. didn't see any fawns.
today i have the pleasure of going to town doing the banking and getting groceries. i'm strongly tempted to stop at the nursery. i've still got some bare spots in my beds. the plants keep frying before they get started. we are really dry up here. it's not nice and green like you would think it is. the only color in my lawn is brown, green from the weeds and white from the clover. thank goodness for the flowers i do have.
since i like to get going early. all the work will wait until i get home. check the gardens, laundry, and cleaning. maybe i can spend a few hours at the nursery?????
everybody have a nice day and stay cool or dry depending where you live.
Morning all, have golf this morning but we are one of the last to tee off so there's no hurry.
Maria, you must have been thinking of someone else, I'm as fine as can be with only the usual health issues, which are manageable. My rotater cuff seems to be healing in spite of my activities, and I can now pull up my clothes with both arms. Olivia is helping me type so if this disappears, it's her fault.
Your neighbor caught one raccoon, Sarv, now all he has to do is go after its other relatives and friends....there seems to be an endless supply around here. Ice cream vender right next to the garden shop, sounds like a dangerous combination!! Aphids attacking your 'toonies, too. Is immunox made especially for aphids? Hope it works. I've only seen one or two Japanese Beetles this year, last year they ate my roses all day long in spite of spraying. I dont know if they come in cycles, but we had them bad three years running.
Mary, too bad you can't ride, but I understand how you don't want to put your horses in jeopardy. Your team will appreciate your support. Maybe by the next ride both Patch and Breezy will be better and you will be able to do it again. I wondered too about the rider who got so sick.
Dcat, any one who can wallpaper with their spouse has a lot more patience than mine did. DH and I were wall papering a very short hallway, about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, it was one of those hard to line up patterns, and he was up on a ladder and I was below saying, "just a little right, no that's too far, wait, raise it about a half inch, no, that's too much.....when he got down from the ladder, handed me the wet strip and said, "you do it" and walked away. I have papered with my DS and my DD, and we manage just fine!!
We did paper walls again a few years after that, but by that time he figured out how the process worked and we did much better. The only problem we had was we had started on Thanksgving Day, since we weren't going anywhere and no one was coming over....we got done about 8:30 in the evening and were starving. All the fast food places area were closed! And we didn't look so good....I think we finally slunk into one of those family restaurants and hid out in a corner booth so no one could see us in our gunky clothes.
We're going to see the new "Pirates" today too, Joy. We got a kick out of the first one, and are eager to see the follow up. Flower shot is beautiful. I just love when everything is in bloom and there is color everywhere in the yard.
Hope, Bonnie made some good suggestions. Way back when I was young and very poor, I used our local university dental school and they did very good work. I still have a few of the fillings they put in. All their work is checked by their instructor, step by step, and the cost was minimal which was just what I needed. When I could afford it, I switched to a regular dentist recommended by a friend, and he turned out to be one of the instructers, and I stayed with him until he retired.
It's not going to get better, in fact you are jeopardizing your health by delaying. They now link many health problems to bad teeth and gum disease.
Welcome, Ves, where the heck is Jim Falls? Lived in Wis. most of my life and can't place it. Katym, tell us about more than your teeth, and help eat up that rice pudding before I get into it again. Kids? Pets? Gardens? Spill the beans, we're waiting......
Darius, congrats, a BED! More progress! Good luck with Mr. Slow. Sometimes you need to give only one instruction at a time, because they don't "track" well. Sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth to oversee every little step, kind of like having your kids clean their room. Ya know, clean your room is too vague. First, pick up ALL your clothes. Then, pick up all the trash. Then, get the broom etc.... sigh. I remember it well. What I could have done in 15 minutes takes a half a day as they drag their feet and complain, and ....you know the drill. I can't believe both my DDs are excellent housekeepers now. (And I'm NOT)
I'd better get a move on. Another beautiful day. Predicting rain for the weekend. Neighbor brought over three more tubs of raspberries last night. Might try to make some jam this afternoon, and try that Pomono's Pectin that Darius has recommended.
~~~ to all, and I see that Oz is stirring the pot again about stocking the swimming pool with fish. Ever notice how he tosses those suggestions in here and then disappears before we can get out the 2 X 4?? LOL Maria, if you are going to kick someone, please hold on to something so you don't fall. Or turn Samson loose on him!!
Sheila
Morning eveyone. Just a quick sook see and and quicker post and I'm off for the day of chores All having absolutely nothing to do with more gardens. Isn't that a bummer? Hope all have a wonderful day. BE good to yourselves. bye~~~~~~~~~Cherie
good Morning all,
Sheila, glad you are well but who is the M5 Defoe is talking about yesterday??? I thought you are M5? lol
No Eleaine I would never kick any one never did, just a matter of speech, Just throw something at some one and Samson loves every one :-))
Have a dentist app. soon, so I see you all later....Sarv and Molly sorry you could not sleep, I know what that is all about
LOL Maria, Dcat was just giving me a hard time because I was ironing and then wanted to clean my windows....she thinks I need professional help!!! She's just teasing me!
Sheila
Good morning all. Been up for ages. DGD was the first up this morning, she had turned on the coffee pot, brought in the paper, and turned on the computer. I thanked her for that, but added that the first up was supposed to fix breakfast. She said I did, I ate a bowl of cereal!
DH and I have broken 2 buckets of green beans, and I have them on blanching, will be canning after that. I need to get a freezer cleaned out, and rearranged, so maybe that can come later.
You all be easy on Oz and Ernie, they wouldn't have much to do on some days, unless they stopped by to take a jab at me!! LOL, Sure undertand why we don't see much of Mrs. Oz, she probable won't have a pic taken, because she has a perpetual scowl on her face, having to put up with Oz!!
Sarv, glad a critter was caught, and in the neighbor's trap to boot. Sorry about your not sleeping.
Molly, yeah for some rain. We need some more here, but they are not predicting any until the first of the week.
Maria, hope the dentist appointment goes okay. I jest, and tease, hope it doesn't come across as mean spirited, because it is not intended to be.
~~to cc, and georgiaredclay. Have a good day.
Joyous, I am now believing that "old dog, new tricks" saying. Never figured that it would be this hard. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Darius, hope you have a good productive day. Just give Mr. Slow one suggestion at a time. If he is slow, any more will result in brain overload, and then you are back to square one.
I01, when my day starts out like yours, the temptation to go back to bed is sometimes is overwhelming. However, if I do that, I feel groggy all day, so usually just sit with a cup of coffee, read the paper, (can't mess those 2 tasks up much) then when the caffeine kicks in go to work.
Welcome to Ves, another newbie. Now you have to tell us all about yourself. We need to see if you qualify as GOB, or a GOB in training.LOL
Well gotta get these beans in the jars and on, so will be back later.
In for lunch - cardboard pizza - nothing else in the house unless I want to spend time in front of the stove and I certainly don't feel like doing that!
Kids came over to pick up the camera - they were so funny about it. DIL said she wouldn't put in her purse (hers fell out of her purse and broke)
Welcome to vess- pull up a chair and tell us all about yourself. Maria is the resident cook - she'll provide some tasty goodies for you!
Darius -good luck with Mr. Slow - at least he shows up!! What's on his work load for today?
It is so dry here that we haven't mowed for 3 weeks. I buzzed around my flower beds to pick up the weeds I tossed at the edges and zoomed around and mowed off some tall weeds sprouting up. Other than that our lawn is toast. So sad. They keep saying rain, but nothing passes over us.
I have an automatic sprinkler that I am going to try out for watering my big pots while we are gone. I am worried that the hose will blow or the thing will malfunction and I will have water gushing for ten days. Wouldn't that be a mess!!! My neighbor who I was going to ask/pay to water is having surgery next week, so she is out of the picture. There are some kids across the way, (who I've never met) - I supposed I could walk over and ask if any of them would be interested.
Well, pizza is done! gotta go
Meezersfive-- I just became a DG member a couple of weeks ago. I have been following this thread and also the herbs and clean and clutter free forums. I just LOVE it! Now to "spill the beans" as you put it.... I am feeling a lot better this morning as far as the teeth go. Still some pain but not as bad as yesterday and the doctor said it would get a little better each day.
I am married, have two sons, ages 20 months and my oldest will be 7 tomorrow. He is very excited about his birthday. Two dogs (american bulldog named Buddy and chiwawa named Nelly). Oh yes, and one house cat (Allyssa) who has just had her 1st litter of kittens about 3 weeks ago. She only had two and they are adorable!!! I love to garden and have a large flower garden with and an herb garden that I am just starting. I planted all of the herbs from seeds about a month ago and everything has come up and looks so wonderful. I cant wait for them to get big enough to use in my cooking. I have been trying to get some recipes together that I can try as soon as the herbs are ready.
DH is in college now working on an Aerospace engineering degree and also he works full time. So I am home with the kids much of the time. This DG site has really been good for me since I ususally dont have anyone around to have 'adult conversation with'
Hi folks,
I never did get to post anything yesterday and this will be short. I see something new at the top ot the thread - "views" which I think says 108 times people have looked at this thread already but only 22 have written something. Is that right?
Last day of Camp Awesome. The kids are really good and tired out for their parents tonight. We let them stay up too late last night to watch my flower open at dusk. (Oenethera Acaulis - sp?)
Just got a message that the ottawa Symphony had just launched a new web site -
http://www.ottawasymphony.com/
There's a reasonable picture of me at
http://www.ottawasymphony.com/about/view_bio.php?lang=en&id=73&image=0
with the reddish hair to the right of the lady with grey hair.
Have to finish off for now. Am really hungry. And need to wash the sheets from the kids' beds and hang them out. Also pack up all their stuff to take to their Mom at the end of camp.
BBL I hope.
Ann
Georgiaredclay, son said that it wasn't worth going to the midnight showing. Not sure about anything else, he was too grumpy to talk to this morning!! LOL
VES522, welcome to "Coffee and...." do stop at the nursery, we all need that pick me up. Please share with us what you find there and a little about yourself.
Katym, looks like you qualify as a GOB in training! Wondering what that is? It means you are under 50. Quite a few of us are GOB's Glorious ol' broads! So you are working your way there. Welcome to "Coffee and..."
Had company this morning and more this afternoon, probably won't get much done.
Sarv my cardboard pizza is done too!
Edited to say: "Hello Ann, found you in the picture!"
Well I'm back Drinking tea and eating a brat. I guess I lied about the running having to do nothing with plants. I just can't go to the store with the miniature greenhouse set up in the parking lot and not look and BUY. Ended up with a whole bunch of petunias,(white, yellow,red & prurple) a Sun coleus and two pretty nice sized pentas. Not sure where I'm going with them but have until 3:00 to find them a home before picking up DH at work. I'm sooooo weak. I wasn't going to buy anymore til it was time to put in bulbs. Pitiful I know and I am looking sorry. But oh what the heck.......they're just plain necessary for my total well-being mentally and emotionally. Physically too. I have to weed, wter,de-bug,fertilize. Keeps me active. Right? of course right.
Must go stare and the new plants now and get some awesome inspiration quickly. Hi to all. I can never remember names except for meezersfive. But hi to everyone~~~~~~Cherie
Well taking a lunch break, had a hot dog, never as good at home.
I have canned 14 quarts of beans this morning, have another 7 to go on later. Cleaned out a freezer, and rearranged it. The dogs are gonna love me later, found some liver in the freezer and am cooking it for them now. Don't know why I put stuff in the freezer that I know we won't use. Maybe to make me feel good twice. Once when I put it in, then again when I throw it out!! Have 10 pints of strawberries thawing, gonna make some preserves out of them.
Sounds like everybody has been fairly busy today. DGD is at neighbor's playing, and I need to run to DM's to get her mail, and let her have her Mr. B fix for the day!!
Well will check in later, as things are calling my name.
Okay, came back to see what was going on. I see we have 2 newby's in the group I haven't welcomed ... sooo I'm ~~~~ at ya. I'm not good with names either, but will catch on after wile. Just don't throw anything at me if I get a bit Confused. I usually put on fresh coffee in the afternoons ... not much on baking ... you'll have to depend on the others for your goodies, though I do love to cook with fresh herbs.
Ann, I'll have to check out your pic later. :-) My Mom is/was a red head. LOL Don't tell her I said that! I only got her fair complection.
Maria ... I know you don't have a mean bone in your body. LOL I will, however, send you the 2X4 should you desire it. ;) Now Ernie ... you'd better behave! LOL LOL
Well, off to find something to eat. Hmmmm, if memory serves me ... I
have a slice of cardboard pizza in the freezer, also. Somehow that just doesn't sound appetizing. Think I'll do a salad. ;)
~Elaine~
My goodness you all have beren busy posting while I was gone,
Bonnie ,you could not be mean spirted if you tried, just that some humor goes right over my head, lol
Welcome, Katy, this reminded me I made a blueberry coffee cake first thing this morning, it is my usual fresh fruit coffee bread recipe
VAnn, I hadn't noticed that Dave re-installed the "Views" count, Thanks for pointing it out! We used to have that before and then his servers got overloaded. Glad it's back, and your assumption is correct.
Finished the primer on my office floor last evening and this morning got a coat of floor paint on it. The color is called "Hemlock" and it pretty much looks the color of a hemlock tree, slightly more blue than green. I think I can live with it a few months or even a year until we can afford new flooring.
Mr. Slow won't be here today afterall. I think he's doing his Community Service since his court date 2 days ago. He left a message saying he'd work tomorrow... but Saturday is my day for the Farmer's Market and Yard Sales, at least the morning hours.
Well, time to start on my half bushel of peaches. I plan to freeze them in amounts for the recipe until I get my canning stuff from storage here. Plus, I still need red raspberries for the Peach Melba recipe.
BBL
Just got the pie in the oven - fresh cherry-picked from our tree! I used my neighbor's recipe for the crust- using oil and rolling it out between wax paper. Man, it sure was easier than the way I do it!! The crust was very very thin....just had enough for a top and a bottom. Her cherry pie recipe said to pierce the bottom crust- I thought this was strange, but did it. Now when I peeked in the oven, the juice was seeping thru...won't do that again!!
Darius - a no show huh....what as he in court for? Too bad you can't be considered his community service! Never had peach melba....the name sounds good tho!! Color in your room looks cheerful!
Well, I went to stop at my MIL house, but my SIL wasn't there, so I cruised on by. I like to stop when she is there as the conversation is more interesting!! SO, my car drove me to Mc D for another ice cream cone. Now this will be my last - I've had my fill..
Maria, did we ever get your fresh fruit coffee bread recipe?
defoe- I love eating hot dogs- especially right out of a campfire - burned black. We only have them in the summer- like mine topped with saurkraut and mustard. yum
cece - you must be my twin!! I was thinking of going to one of my favorite greenhouses today and then thought NO, if you go, you will buy....My big clumps of poppies are dying back and I need something in front of them to hide the big empty space...hmmm
VI- I think there are a lot of lurkers!!! I'm glad the view thing is back too
Joyous -- You are correct in your observation that I am indeed a GOB in training. I will say that I am over half way to 50, but not there yet. Very much enjoying the Coffe thread. It rained here yesterday afternoon and last night, which made for great sleeping weather and everything looks refreshed outside today. This is the first rain we have had in about 3 weeks. We have really been in the drought this year and I am so tired of watering twice a day. Maybe the rain will pick up now and my water bill will go down. LOL
i've been home for awhile putting away groceries talking with my son who got home about 15 min. after i did. then he went on line and i had to wait!!!!!!!!!
i did stop at the nursery. actually it's called klinger's market. they grow and sell produce also. if i remember right they have 14 commercial greenhouses. so you can imagine the fun i have there. i've been there twice this week. but that darn sun keeps drying up my plants!!!! i had so many started this yr. also.
i did pick up some annuals to fill in some bare spots. so if things start to grow my beds will be over flowing. i also got 2 painted daisys starts. good thing i don't mind waiting. thats part of the fun. wed. i picked up some other perennial starts but off hand i can't remember what. let you know later and then you can let me know if i made any mistakes.
alittle background: married forever we have a huge yard lg. dog 2 cats
6 flower beds vegie garden above ground cement pond[170 or 270 gal] its been awhile since i figured it out. my hubby made it for me. all my beds are slightly raised. we we to the rock piles we have and hand picked them all or picked them out of the field. we call this rock season. we are always looking at rocks and wanting to take them home. we even fight over the rocks. he's trying to build a road over the swampy area. he has gotten some good ones when my back was turned. i grow annuals and perennials. last year i started getting more perennials. so we will see how it goes. thanks for the welcome.
i'm looking forward to all the chat. vicki
all the blabbing and i forget this. jim falls is north of eau claire by about 40 min. if i'm driving. vicki
Yes, Sarv, I did post it quite a long time ago, some one made it and said it was good and different. May have been M5. It is my mother's recipe
Nice floor colour, Darius
Twyla
Hey everybody! just checking in before the weekend starts. I'm pretty sure I won't get back here until Monday. Going to a graduation picnic tomorrow at 1:00 and then out for dinner with friends in the evening. Sunday DH and I are going to a car show and the rest of the day will be spent weeding.
Hope - I don't think you should wait the weekend to get to the dentist. Also, be very carefull taking old antibiotics. Please keep letting us know how your doing. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Sarv - Glad that critter you caught was not the skunk. That smell is soooo hard to get rid of.
Joy - always enjoy your flower pictures!
I guess last night was the night for not sleeping. I was up at 2:30 feeling sick as a dog. Don't know from what. Went to sleep only to wake up again a 3:30 because a fox was yapping outside our window. Had to go make sure the cat was in. My Mandy cat is brazen enough to try to atack the fox. She attacks my sisters greyhound.
Welcome to the newbies. Always nice to meet new people.
Darius - I love the color you painted the floor. I have been following your thread and although I havn't commented over there, I'm so happy for you! You have acomplished so much. Good luck with the yard sales tomorrow. Hope you get some good buys.
~~~~ to everyone else. Have a good weekend!
Hi all, and a special hello to Katy and Vicki --- welcome to the coffee klatch.
I'll second Maria's vote on your floor color, darius. I like it too. It's probably a good thing that you're getting some cooler weather. I'd hate to think of you doing all that work in high heat and humidity.
Ernie, whatever did you say to Bonnie that was so bad you had to edit it all out?!
sarv, if you're hitting the escape button, I don't know if there's any way to recover anything from that. Don't know what else it might be. On the subject of "cardboard pizza", my DH is such a pizza fanatic that he'd rather have that than real food more times than I like to admit. It's become something of a staple on Friday nights as I don't get out of the store until 8 PM and don't usually feel like starting to cook by the time I get home. I'm glad that you didn't have a skunk in the trap after all, but hope you get a much better night's sleep tonight!
I'm not usually too tempted to buy more plants as I've nowhere to put any more unless we can come up with the money to get a few large trees removed. I do tend to buy too many vegetable seeds each Spring, though.
Hi V-ann, will you get any break at all to get a little rest now that the grandkids' camp is through? I expect you'll just pick up a few more of the hundred and one things you seem to do and carry on.
Hi I01, yes, do be careful or your arm. I thought that the tendonitus in my elbow was long cleared up, but a few sessions with the garden fork taught me otherwise. Now I have to baby it again for awhile. Sorry about the lost post, that is extremely frustrating.
Hi Bonnie, hat's off to you for all the canning and preserving you've been doing. I don't know whether to envy you for all those lovely fresh vegetables (mine are barely blooming so far) or to be glad that it's you and not me having to contend with it all.
M5, loved that last kitty pic. I'm also glad to know that I'm not the only one who's a little "domestically challenged", though I'm absolutely sure that you're not in the "dusts with a shovel" category like I am.
Well, I'm just about sure that I've missed someone --- don't mean to, just can't remember all of what's been said by the time I get into the middle of posting.
Now I need to have a bit of a tantrum and get this stuff off my chest. Some of you may remember that I mentioned my DH having trouble with his feet --- specifically his big toes. This has been going on for at least 3 months and the poor guy has been on his feet working the whole time. He's been seen at a couple of free clinics, but he'd get slightly better and then be right back to square one again. I was getting kind of worried and he was joking about amputated toes being one way to lose weight. Well, the health insurance from the place where he's been working just kicked in on July 1st and now it seems that the doctors are singing a whole different tune. He went to one of the same doctors he'd seen at the clinic a couple of weeks ago, but this time he was sent to a podiatrist the very next day on an emergency basis, had minor surgery and was told to stay off his feet for a week. He's on super heavy duty anti-biotics and if they don't work the doctors are talking about intravenous anti-biotics. He's supposed to have a visiting nurse come to change the dressings as he has drains in the ulcers on his toes. NOW we are told that he has cellulitus and ulcerated toes ---- a condition that's said to be life-threatening if left untreated too long. Has his life only become valuable now that he has health insurance? Sorry folks, but I'm a little upset.
Guess I'd better go try to do something creative. I may be back later, if not, have a good evening and a peaceful night, everyone.
Yes Mccool ... It's sad to say ... but I do think insurance talks. :-( I also think insurance causes doctors to do otherwise unnecessary procedures a lot of times, also. :-( So sorry to hear about your DH. You both will be in my thoughts and prayers. Goodness when the DH is down the DW *definitely* needs prayers!! LOL
