The Atlanta Journal Constitution had an article about the world's largest flower in bloom at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. The plant ided as the Titan Arum aka "the stinky plant" is 52 inches tall. The Amorphophallus-titanium is native to Indonesia. This is the third time the ABG has gotten the plant to bloom and only two other times has anyone been able to get it to bloom twice. It reportedly grows 4 inches a day.The last time the ABG got it to bloom was 2 years ago and it measured 7 feet tall then. They said this year bloom was just a little stinker.(PUN INTENDED)

THE WORLD'S LARGEST FLOWER-TITAN ARUM IN BLOOM.
Thats too cool!! Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
THAT IS ONE HECK OF A STINKER!
Yeah we're all holding our breath, waiting to see if the pollination they had shipped in from Florida worked. Can't wait to find out!
Dave
I remember when it bloomed 2 years ago. I thought it was really neat that Atlanta would have it. I've never been to the ABG. Hopefully someday I'll get to go. Linda
merkat123, I've never been either. I have a trip already planned for this weekend but I don't know if I would fight the crowds or not. Jim
Thanks Jim, for your post, just amazing! Can't imagine such a huge bloom, and stinky to boot!
I will be in the Atlanta area next week and the ABG would be a great place to visit, alto, I will be too late to see that huge bloom. However, the childrens garden tour would be great for the 3 yr. old granddaughter...gotta work on my little gardener, you know! Thanks again...
Jean
