Could someone please tell me if this is leaf miners and if so what can be done for them?

Also alot of my plants leafs are being eaten at the edges and there are holes in the leafs.
What can I put on my plants to protect them and that won't harm the plant, hubby was going to put 7 on them, but I told him that was to harsh. Please HELP.
We will be gone for almost the whole month of August and I would like to protect these if possible so they will still be here when I get back.
Some are seedlings and others are full plants.

Any and all advice would be appreciated, Thanks Connie

Yes looks like leaf miner type damage. Plants are usually not affected by those critters and the damage is more estetic than anything else.
You can try controlling them with a Systemic like Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insecticide applied as a soil drench 1oz per Gallon of Water.

I have this same problem that occurs on my lemon trees. The only way I've found to eliminate the problem is to 1) remove all effected foliage (and I mean all) best to zip it up in large baggies and destroy and 2) Spray with an "All Seasons" oil. You may have to give it 2 rounds of treatments, a few weeks apart. The oil suffocates the leaf miner.
