Turning hydrangeas blue

U.P., MI(Zone 5a)

Hi Everyone,
I know you can turn hydrangeas blue by adding something to the soil. Is it possible to to turn limelight hydrangeas blue.
I have a moon garden that I am thinking of changing to a blue garden (Blue is my favorite color). There are 2 very healthy limelight hydrangeas in there. I kind of hate to uproot them.

Thanks for your help,

The trick to turning them blue is to make the soil more acid. I've heard of using Miracid, Aluminum Sulfate, Hollytone, food for Azalea and Rhododendron. I can't specifically say anything about Limelight Hydrangea. I'll be watching too. I am fascinated by Hydrangea. I have my first ones but don't know if they will bloom this year.

I've heard by adding a few copper pennies into the soil around the root system will turn them cheaply. I added my 2 cents earlier this year and am awaiting to see the blooms????????

Thanks for the tips. I'll try the pennies. I've also heard coffee grounds are good too!

I only knew about the endless summer turning blue I didn't know others did it too. I have an endless summer and like it pink so I have let it go that way.

If you go into almost any nursery they should have a product designed specifically for this purpose. I saw it this morning in fact at the local Ace Hardware. I also saw some at Orchard Supply Hardware.
Good Luck. I am just trying to coax my plants to grow. They are not happy little babies, I may have to return them from Brecks.

Hi everyone!

I have three hydrangea bushes (Annabelles) but would like to add another two. Does anyone know if its okay to plant the bushes now--in August. Will they bloom next year if I do? Thanks if you can help.
