Old vanity chair with no seat.... flea market find $8.00
Pot to fit it.... Dollar store $1.00
Plants from my friends... free
Priceless from Trash to Treasure Forum....
Pod, love that trash to treasure idea! What you did looks great! I'm looking for an old bowling ball for my garden. I called the local bowling alley and they said they had no old balls and that they wouldn't sell me one...go figure! I need to hit the Goodwill store.
Thanks fly_girl, I love 2nd hand stuff and the trash to treasure forum is fun. I duplicated this thread to inspire interest?
We had a 2nd hand store for quite a few years and had bowling balls come thru. You might poke around used stores or flea mkts. May I ask how you intend to use it? Always curious. I have a lab that destroys tennis balls, brought him a basketball and he stood on it till he could bite and pphhhh, it went flat too. I threatened to bring home a bowling ball for him!
Imagine a bowling alley with no old balls ( did they really say THAT?) tee hee....
I haven't done it yet but I have an idea for a very very old wood dresser. No mirror, just the frame. I want to either paint it a color or at least put a water resistant coating on it so I can put potted plants on it and have a vine twining around the mirror frame. This old dresser has been stored in our barn for at least 16 yrs. lol It has real possibilities for something cute in my opinion.

They really said that! Maybe they thought I would resell it and make a big profit. I told them what I wanted to do with it and that I wanted the ugliest, oldest, warptest? ball they had. I want to make a glass mosaic on it, saw one in a magazine and it looked cool.
Broken glass mosaic? How unusual. Hmmm...wonder if that could be done with broken mirror pieces. Just think of all the bad luck. If you get one made please post a picture. Sounds neat. I asked because the bowling balls we sold went to women who were painting them and using them as yard art. Never had a chance to see one completed.
Dancey, your idea is great. You could even use the mirror frame to frame a pretty outdoor scene or shrub. Sounds like a great project.
i once saw an article in a magazinme where someone took a bowling ball and slued plastic "multi colored tear drops" all over the ball and then put it on a stand and when the light hit it it looked like a glazing ball. one even put potting soil in the 3 holes and had flowers coming out of it.
How cute. I wonder what plants would do well there. hmmm....
I love your garden seat!! I didn't know there was a trash to treasure forum. I will definitely visit there!!!
Being an addicted to fleas and garage sales, I love Trash to Treasure. I didn't mean to flaunt my posting by listing twice but hoped to get a response like yours (thank you) to the forum. I think it is fun like a lot of them are.
podster, I was delighted you posted here -- I hadn't see the trash to treasure forum previously and I've since been enyjoying reading and seeing the cool things people are doing.
There's a trash to treasure forum?
podster, I'm glad you posted also. I didn't know Trash to Treasure forum existed. I put it as one of my favorites.
Aren't I a promoter... I am glad more of us have discovered it. It is fun. Barbur, I haven't been smart enough to set up favorites and stumbled across this while looking for my favorites. Purely accidental.
podster, To set up favorites go to "My Info," click on "Managing my preferences," then "forums." All the forums are listed and you check which ones you want.

Barbur, thanks so much! I handled it today. Now, I may never find any other neat new forums. I won't get past my favorites and surely won't ever get any more house work done! ; ^ }
Fly, I have my DH's old bowling ball - it is gold. I am looking for a goose to go with it. I have the spot all ready for it. It will be the goose that laid the golden egg..... Maybe he still has his old black one. I'll ask him.....
The goose that laid the golden egg....now that's funny...I don't care who you are!
Hi Bama. How are all those fairies doing at your place? Now that I know the trick to keeping them happy, doing much better here. Thanks for the advice. LOL
