Betsy that is a nifty Idea :) But my hubby put rebar up for me :) I am so lacking in floor room :)
Where do YOU keep your Hoyas?
I've been checking this thread now a few times to see if that olive tree of yours, Marcy, was a dream or not. It's still there this time so I guess it's real! Absolutely wonderful!
Christina
Wow Marcy - your collection is amazing. I'm not sure I'll ever get that many. I already cringe at the thought of bringing in the 100 orchids if we have a hurricane. I have a few orchids in trees, but I just let them fend for themselves in storms. The hoyas would have to come inside. Last year after the hurricanes, we had lizards and frogs all over the house. They all were stow-aways on the pots.

You guys are too kind. Thanks again. However, my plant collection in general is mild compared to a lot of people here in S. California. Because it is a warm (most of the time) type of climate, people go nuts with plants around here. When I take my morning "walk with the dogs", I see lots of similar trees to my olive one just loaded with plants in, on, & under them. One person has a whole tree full of some type of orchids with roots dangling everywhere. That is how I got the idea to just start hanging them here & there in that tree. Ha. People also have gobs of plants all around their houses and on the patios. It is just a plant lovin place here. Ha. I love it.
Christine....I have no idea anymore how many I have. I used to keep track of the names & stuff in notebooks, but I havent kept them up lately and I certainly have lost some & aquired lots more since I last got those out. Ha. I have a lot that I propagated and got doubles of too.
Ginger...that is too funny about the frogs & lizzards. Did you ever get them all out? Paul brought home a tokay gecko once a long time ago & let it loose on the wall saying it was going to keep the house bug free. (he had some crazy friend that told him that & he believed it.) Brother! Anyway, it promptly ran down & under the washing machine. No one could find it until a couple of weeks later when I happen to be doing laundry barefooted. Yep....you guessed it. That thing nabbed onto my toe and you could hear the dance I did all the way aound the block. Needless to say, that was the end of that lizzard. Paul still laughs about it, but only when I am not around to beat on him for doing so. Ha.
I would NOT envy you having to worry about hurricanes this summer (especially after last summer). It is bad enough I have to come up with plans in case it ever freezes in the winter.

Thought I'd get this thread back on top for a while... I've been re-arranging hoyas, showering hoyas, trying to tame them on their own supports, cleaning windows... All of this done when it's way too hot outside and even hotter inside! Here's how our living room window looked this morning.
Christina
I am so jealous.
;-)
Wow...Christina, GREAT JOB... (growing AND cleaning/arranging) Your hoyas have reallly been growing this year.
Marcy
They look so well cared for! Did anyone else notice the beautiful light coming in those windows? Nice work Christina!
Wow Christina, looks like your plants have growen alot. Looks pretty sunny outside.
Cicada great place for your hoya, looks perfect under there for hoya. And your little guy looks exhausted from he's workout !!!! :)
Oh, wow, what a beautiful peacock! I really like how you have made that structure so that you can just take it apart when winter comes - great idea!
Ann
Beautiful peacock too. I had those back on the farm. They would roost up in the trees a YEOOWL at first light and evening.
Great idea for a hanging spot.
Marcy
