Slugs!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

We're having a lot of rain in the northeast and my dahlias, hostas, coleus, and ligularia are getting eaten up by slugs. My old solution of been doesn't seem to be working because it gets diluted so quickly.
Any other suggestions for these grimy pests?

There are several slug-specific products out there, Sluggo and Escar-go come to mind. They also don't like copper, so if you put a copper barrier around the plants they won't go over it. You might try looking around in the Garden Foes forum, slugs get discussed quite often over there. Organic Gardening forum has some threads on this too.

Any old snail bait will work .. just broadcast it around the plant but not too near it! .. some people make the mistake of putting it right next to the plant .. the idea is to lured them away from the plants .. not show them where it is! lol. As a general rule, I through a few handfuls through around my garden every 2 weeks .. if you are badly infested and it is raining lots, then every 4 or 5 days would be best until you get it under control.

GERA,
IF you are a slug HUNTER, like me, take your trusty salt shaker out a few hours after sunset, or just before sunrise, and sprinkle away.

Other than that, Corries Slug Bait works great, IMHO, or a similar slug bait.

Best;
