DOOMED: I'll never throw anything away.

Clearwater, FL(Zone 9b)

I was rooting around in my laundry/gardening room (looking for more space), when I wondered why "we" (read: hubby) hadn't thrown out the ruined shoji screen that was stuck in a corner.

The rice paper on said shoji screen had been repeatedly fouled by a beloved/ancient cat. A cat who has been deceased for a couple of years -- meaning the shoji screen has been taking up space for oh, at least three years.

Hubby informs me *I* told him not to throw it away. I can't fathom what I was thinking -- the rice paper is DESTROYED and foul.

But wasn't I the smart cookie. As I was getting ready to kick it to the curb today, I suddenly wondered... sure enough, the rice paper comes right off and just look at the three elegant trellises I now have. :-)

And that just cinches it, never ever throw anything away.

Great thinking :)

Its just those events that help keep our homes stuffed with stuff that has potential for use someday.
I'm glad you found a use for those screens!

That is TOO cool. Great idea. We can't bear to throw either but can't begin to imagine what good my junque will be. pod

I'm pretty tickled with them -- I needed a couple of trellises (probably why my mind went that way) and nearly spent $$ on some at HomeDepot that weren't NEARLY as nice as these will be. ;-)

What nice trellises.
This thread is not good for me I have been working up the courage to start throwing things away.

Cool!! My Mother just mentioned today she needed some trellis'. I told her I was pretty sure we would have something laying 'hiding' around here somewhere that would work. We'll have to take a look in the barn and see what we can come up with. ;)

Those will make good trellis' for ya!

Well two of the three already have a home, haven't decided where the third one is going...

We have a couple more shoji screens in good shape and IN use in our house... hubby got a little concerned when I was eyeing one of those today. ;)
