And now you can see why I'm tired of cannas......
knolan thread
Wow! That's looks really pretty. That is alot of work! My neighbor has asked me to help at her elementary school grounds and I don't even have any children. I am a step-parent too, but they (3) are all on their own now.
I, too, miss family gatherings, all of my family live in different states, which shouldn't be an excuse, but it is.
ok, no more
Ceejay, that Colorado vacation sounds like a blast. Why no more horses? We love them. Rachel used to ride but had a bad scare. She says she's ready to start up again. I seriously thinking of a horse for myself. I have a way with them.
Hey Fly, "stepping" is hard but well worth it. I love my daughters dearly, whether blood or by marriage. But all I can do at this point is step back and pray that she'll come around. It will probably happen in her twenties but....I can wait.
One more, trying to post them all...I missed the broken pot. I had begonias poking out of there but someone has replaced with wandering jew. I used to have markers in all the spots but teenagers would come along and move them around. Another time, I had a parent who wasn't involved with the garden and who knew NOTHING about gardening, go up and start digging up the annuals that were dying (due to the heat and they being seasonal...we're talking about petunias and snap dragons in late May) to take back to her house to "baby". You should have seen me when I got the phone call. I loaded hubby and Rachel in car and drove straight there and caught her in the act. She's about, ummmm, a foot taller than me, and we were in a screaming match. I told her if she dug up one more plant I would call the police. I tried to explain to her that these plants were not going to make it through the Texas heat and that our children planted these. The first day we built this garden we did have a lot of small children bring plants to donate, that were all annuals, and I let them plat them wherever their little hearts desired. If they came back to school finding their plants missing they would be severely disaapointed. this woman was a Board Member as well and never participated on the garden committee. Her statement to me was that she was an "artist" and wanted everything "symmetrical" and didn't like the way I had laid things out. Hubby and Rachel laughed at me for weeks after seeing me "bow up" and tell her she had better decide to be on the committee or keep her grubby hands off the School Garden. This belongs to the schoool and not any whim she has up her *!@#. After taking to the committee, every single person said that if she were going to be on the committee, they quit. Next Board Meeting, she was scolded and told to keep her hands off. Let me also tell you, she was the treasurer and was just going to go and buy whatever she wanted to put in there. I was the committee chair with a $2,000 budget, which I had almost exhausted. She was going to go and make purchases without approval and overspend my budget. What do you think would happen to a treasurer that does that? Hubby said he wished he had a video camera, me looking up at Amazon woman and screaming at the top of my voice.
Ohh...I must be PMS'ing because I am sure getting myself worked up. Come on "Change of Life".
That's hilarious! After all that hard work you did and no-one else would help, she tried to take over. Some people! I'm glad you stood up to her, sometimes you just need to pick your battle and stand your ground. The school garden looks very pretty, I love the pot on its side, the path, birdbath, trellis and the globe. It makes the garden so interesting, and I can see how the kids would love to go there.
Do you really want to rush the 'change', you know there are drawbacks, like the 'sweats' which are awful. And there are other unmentionable things that a lady doesn't talk about hee hee.
I was on the chat line the other day and started talking about Munchausen by Proxy. I don't know why it started me there, but I was on a roll, the disorder makes me so mad because I couldn't have children and there are people out there poisoning theirs. Anyway, I'm kind of embarrassed and probably won't ever do the chat thing again. Sometimes, we just need to vent. I hope you have a great vacation!
Fly_Girl,
What is Munchausen? I've never heard of. I'm so sorry that you couldn't have children. Is it because of this?
Trust me, I'm already experiencing the sweats....just bring it on and get it over with!
I had endometriosis really bad, so I had to have a hysterectomy.
Munchausen by Proxy is when a parent creates or exaggerates a sickness in their child that usually requires hospitilization. They say the motive is the attention from medical staff or the thrill in deceiving paople that are smarter than them; doctors and nurses. It's hard to prove because the parent usually acts so loving and caring. There was a movie about it, don't remember what it was called.
I'm sorry about the endometriosis. Let's talk dmail. I have never heard about the Munchausen by Proxy. That's a really strange disorder.
I'll Google to see if what they say.
[q] Trust me, I'm already experiencing the sweats....just bring it on and get it over with! [/q]
Knolan, everybody dont get over it ... it could last forever. I have been going through it for fifteen years.

Oh Syliva, I pray that doesn't happen to me! I'll just take the cards that are dealt. I hope you get a reprieve. Fifteen years sounds too long!
Kristi
kristi - A really beautiful legacy, indeed. I'll bet the neighbors across the street enjoy it too. I am surprised the blue gazing ball is still there.
horses - Well, I twisted my knee once getting on one, and then hyperextended it while riding, Very painful. A few years later I thought I was all OK, and tried to ride again, but my knee killed me. Had to ride with my foot out of the stirrup, and extended straight forward - couldn't bend my leg around the belly of the horse. Not a real secure way to ride. A brace didn't help enough. I also had back problems and wore a brace when I rode. I admit, I don't have a way with them. I find them to be untrustworthy, and stubborn to a fault. They spook too easily, and sometimes I think that is an act too - just an excuse to try to throw me over their shoulders when they suddenly stop. My daughter is the big horse person - owned, bred, rode, showed...She has her own pet store now where she sells the exotic birds she breeds.
Heya, Sylvia! You are right on..... How's the Russelia doing?
CJ
Okay, Kristi, you invited me and here I am!!! Are you sure you want a Washingtonian?? I just barely have gone through your thread, but love it and hope you realized you were inviting an alien - lol!!
The school pics are absolutely incredible - I am in total awe. I'll start at the beginning and read everything later, but just wanted to say thanks for the invite (and make sure you knew what you were doing)!!!
Murmur....aliens schmaliens! You're absolutely welcome here! We Texans happen to like everybody. Just chipe in whenever you want to. This is a really fun group.
Kristi
And murmur, posting at 6ish in the morning will get you nowhere here. LOL Kristi is an even bigger night owl than I am.... But it appears we both have DH's that "rescue" us from our computers late at night (or early in the morning....) Kristi, mine "rescued" me a whole hour earlier than yours did this morning!
April - You're right!
Ceejay, how kind of you to notice!
Oh Sylvia I feel your pain...or should I say your sweat! It's been 8 years and I am still flashing and sweating! Thought it would have been over long ago, but no.
Fly say the word and I will happily send you my 19 yr old! She is enough to make anyone wish they'd thought better of having that next child.
Kristi what a wonderful vacation you have planned! I am so envious. We have had so few vacations- don't know why, we always have a good time, but you have fun for me!
April, no thanks, no more live in teenagers, just visitors :)
I have ya'll beat, 24 years of sweats! I'm finally on an Estrogen/testesterone med that is working. Finally a rest from people saying......"Are you alright?" when I'm sweating profusely? when it's 90 degrees!
LOL. dang thought I had a live one!
I did take hormones for a while, but that didn't help much then w/ my mom's history of breast ca I decided it wasn't worth the added risk- strong family history of various cancers, smoker x too many years- why add to the inevitable!
Yeah Kristi, I got a reprieve all right! Its called a Fem-Ring! I went the pill route too, and the patch and lower estrogen pills. premrin .6 works well for the hot flashs and sweating, but the Fem-Ring works for everything ... if you know what I mean. LOL
April, I work for a group of OBGYN who says there no proof that estrogen is a definite cause of cancer or contribute to it ... supposed to be outdated information ... my own gyn of 25 years is very conservative about it ... he prefer I didnt ... but I just cant take it! I am miserble, depressed, ornery and I just cant take it any more. lol
....anyway i think I will take myself to bed ... after all I dont have anyone here to "rescue me" lol
I'm worried about the hormones too, but those sweats and other nuisances wear on the nerves ALOT! So, here I am taking testosterone and thinking every day.......is that beard growth?
Ya'll are too funny. Fly_Girl, I really hope you're not growing a beard. We'll have to choose a new name for you.
Ceejay...my late nights might becoming close to an end. Hubby has started to stomp his feet. Maybe a few nights here and there but I think my company is requested elsewhere. And I have so much fun staying up late!
Oh....how about 'Bearded_Lady'?
I'm almost 62 and think the blankety blank hot flashes are pretty much done. I didn't suffer a lot, but got claustrophobic every time I got one which I hated with a passion!!!
Thanks for letting me hang out with you Texans! I'm usually not a night owl so will have to catch up in the mornings as a rule. I must admit, though, since I discovered DG in May, I've not gotten nearly as much sleep as I used to!!
Kristi - Here too. I think DH has about had it. He's been very patient because he knows how much I love it. And he's got his football forums - which will pick back up very shortly - so he knows how addictive it can be. But when he appears in the doorway - with that look on his face - I better be shutting the computer down at the time! I've decide that I will turn the computer off at midnight - and not sneak one last peek to see if one of my watched threads has posted something.
BTW, this thread was really on my mind last night as I tried to fall asleep with all the thunder and lightning. When you invited podster and murmur over here, I recall one of them saying that she had been watching the thread. I realized that there are probably many who are watching and thinking that it is private. And I know that we welcome anyone to join us. We're just trying to keep your problems or questions in one place. LOL So - maybe you could edit your first post - the one that started this thread - to say something like - "Everybody is welcome here".
CJ
Murmur - Claustrophobic. I never thought of that, but it is so true. And I do have claustrophobia. RU OK at night? That's when it hits me.
Good idea Ceejay....let's see if I can figure out how to do that!
I thought about it too a little. I think I was a little too personal. Need dmail for that kind of stuff LOL!
Better even....maybe we should start a new thread that isn't titled knolan. That makes me a little self conscious....it started out as a joke.
What would you call it? Just Stuff, or The Chat Room, or Pull up a Chair, or Just Visiting, or .......
I think your name is fine, but it is getting a little long, and I understand that people with dial-up have a dickens of a time downloading long threads.
BTW, do you think that just removing the leaves on the lemon stick will do - or have you found that the oil is absolutely necessary? The two teensy Giant (boy, not yet!) Swallowtail cats hatched this AM (tried to take photos, will see how they turn out) and I can't use oil if I return them, and returning them is the only way they are going to live.
Wow Ceejay...I'm certainly no expert but I can say that before I ever found out about the oil and I was just removing the leaves, it seemed as though I was removing them all of the time. That's when I finally asked at a local nursery. Can those babies go on another type of plant?
I like Pull Up A Chair....that's cute. What do you think?
Anything is ok w/ me, just tell me where it is. Murmur, come on in and pull up a chair!
Let's go here:
Home Talk/Jokes and Chat/Pull up a chair
Ok w/ me.
