Will this Shield bug and his friends eat everything?

Hi! Just want to say thank you again to Vshengo who ID'd this guy within ten minutes of me putting the image up. Here's my next question:
I have noticed about three or four of them within the last 2 days. Are they a major threat to my plants? Should I spray? What should I do? They seem to prefer my bachelor buttons.

Thanks!

croclover, some may not agree with me, but I'd say that 4 or so in two days doesn't sound like you have to worry just yet. Now if they get worse...

Of course then there is the question of what else visits your bachelor buttons, too. Some insecticides might accidentally kill bees and butterflies later on. You could always squish them if they look like plant eating bugs (I usually check their little "beaks" to be sure before I squish. Some kinds of these bugs can be predatory bugs.)

Thanks Night Bloom,
I definitely don't want to hurt the bees or butterflies- the bees love to roll around in the bachelor buttons. I'm going to pick them off by hand for now, or maybe just leave them to the mercy of my 5 year old...
