Hot Hose Water

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

i recently stopped at a yard sale and the lady of the house was getting ready to water her flower garden. i was checking out her plants and noticed that the majority of them weren't looking too great. the leaves weren't just brown, they were soft and nasty. she asked me what i thought it could be and told me what all she had been doing and it all seemed right. then she turned the hose on and started watering! "whoa, stop" i hollered, probably too loud, but she stopped! i told her as gently as i could that you have to let the water run for a little while first because the hose lays in the hot sun and the water coming out is boiling hot! she didn't know.

problem solved and a good tip for newbie gardeners. LOL

I have even used it to shower with in emergencies. It can really get hot too.

I've actually burned my foot with hose water! and yes, have taken showers with it too.

I might also add that if your nozzle has a mister on it, use the hot water since when it comes out it will be cooled down considerably and your plant's leaves will take it up faster than the cold.
