glorious today, and yesterday! Boo hoo, I didn't have time to play outside. Maybe tomorrow.
I WANT SUNSHINE!
Absolutly.... beautiful day.. already got the messenger sprayed, everything watered, now I'm off to spend somemore... yahooo!!! I love plant shopping..
Viv
Another glorious day,, and more coming... HEY maybe it wont rain on the 4th... yepppeeeee!!!
Viv
I think we're good! I got the Mighty Plant done, and some things planted, in spite of it being the wrong time of year, really.
One reason I love the hot weather is that it encourages me to just SIT by the pond with my feet in the water and commune with the fishes! It's the only time I ever really sit in my own garden. We all know what I mean...
Hmm should I wash my car today? That always brings rain ..... :-P
Be safe on the 4th everyone!
MARI,
Its PERFECT here today, not a sun in the sky, NICE an gray, about 60F. Sadly, its not supposed to STAY nice, :(

Was cloudy and cool in Lakebay but now I'm at work and it's sunny and clear in Bonney Lake. Was thinking of stopping at McClendon's before my yucky commute home today, see what goodies I can find to amuse myself. I really shouldn't buy anything ... there's plenty of weeds to pull!
PIXY,
NOOOOOOOO!!! You got it BACKWARDS!! NON-ummmmm, "experienced" persons, (trying to not run afoul of DG's TOS), are to keep BAD (HOT) weather AWAY, NOT to BRING it. Hehehe

Today is downright perfect - it was cloudy and cool out here on the island early this a.m., but this afternoon it is sunny and a mild 70. Perfect.
No 'Non-experienced" persons needed to bring or keep away hot weather!
MURM, Well, you get ALL the GOOD weather up there on the floating rock. Here it was OVER 80F :( WAY TOO hot, IMHO

I think it ended up being about 76 here, but felt warmer because I was digging, raking, yanking, etc.
Got a lot done, though, and am wonderfully beat tonight.
It's a good feeling, isn't it? I came home tonight and had about 3 hours of daylight left, so got to some of the grooming, cutting back, etc. that I've needed to do. Everything looks better already! Plus, don't you love it when you discover things you didn't know before: my species brugmansia has put up another shoot! It's growing really well now and I do hope it blooms for me. I got it in a trade as a seedling, had it in the greenhouse for several months, and put it out in the garden at the end of may. It's supposed to have bright red blooms.
Here's a photo of the bloom I'm hoping for.

Pixie, that's a beauty, to say the least!!!!
I've been out again today trying to accomplish a bunch - my stepson has been here working off some debt to us so I'm trying to use his young muscle as much as I can. He's almost 40, which is young to me - lol, and has some developmental disabilities so is limited in what he can do (needs very specific instructions and can't dig or use sickle due to lack of coordination). He's been a huge help, though, absolutely huge!!!
In this pic he is trying his hand (no pun intended) at edging, but it's not going to be his area of expertise!! He was absolutely incredible though at cleaning up the piles of weeds I had from this week and distributing the bags of soil amendment, compost, steer manure, etc. to the places I needed them.
I'm caught up,,, yehaw! the next two days are sitting on my butt, injoying what I've done... watching the grandkids make mud out of my frontyard with a bonzi water slide... joy joy happy happy.... soak up the sun while ya can...
Have a safe and sane 4th
Viv

What a very, very cool toy!!!!!!!
Your yard looks gorgeous, but I must ask: what is caught up???!!!
Never heard of such a thing!
Pixy, Mike often has a big smile - it's an overused phrase, but "his smile can light up a room." In this case, it's lighting up the whole outdoors (and you all thought it was the sun!).
I'll be thankful for some cloudcover AFTER the 4th. Lots of weedpulling, bush trimming, mowing, fertilizing went on this weekend. At least now I can just turn on the sprinklers and enjoy it for a few days!
I'm jealous of your ambition - I have some gardens that look wonderful and others that are nasty, nasty, nasty. Like The Elm Street Garden (as in Nightmare on) which some of you have heard about on the thread I started about such nasty things.
I truly cannot imagine a day where I don't have some sort of huge project to work on - I must like it that way, I guess, or I would do something about it. LOL!!
Cloudy and cool this morning, but hopefully will burn off - our main fireworks display here on my side of the island is this evening (I've no idea why, but it's always on the 3rd - maybe to allow folks to go to other events on the actual 4th).
Downright chilly here, I got goosebumbs... and my feet are cold,, I garden barefoot most of the time. I have to run back in the house every few minutes to warm up...LOL I WANT SUNSHINE!!!!
ya'll be carfull out there
Viv
VIZZ,

It turned out to be beautiful. Lord but I love this place!
Weelll, I must confess that I had a few extra virgins hanging around. When I awoke to find freezing cold weather such that I had to actually consider long sleeves, I decided no sacrifice is too great. Into the volcano they went. And you see the result: another glorious sunny day!
Don't worry, bluelytes, we're supposed to get one day of rainish weather toward the end of the week. That will be a good day to catch up on the laundry, housekeeping, and general inside chores.
LOL - I have to wear long sleeves most of the time because I sunburn so easily, plus I'm often around blackberry vines and nettles or other mean plants.
I took the time this morning to vacuum and tidy up because I thought I had company coming, then they had to change it to tomorrow. So I will have to do the dishes yet AGAIN and probaby vacuum again, too.
Life is tough sometimes. What would we have to sacrifice to save having to do housework (ever again)?
PIXY,
FREEZING COLD?? LOROF, HARDLY, was short sleeve and short time at 8am when I was out working!! :)

Oh, I don't know! Maybe many, many virgins all at once? I would dearly LOVE to never do housework again. I have found myself jealous of Carol Brady in the past, wishing for my own personal 'Alice'. Oh well. Only on TV.
bluelytes - SOME of us get cold easily! I can tell you are not among us. After 40, it's like being cold-blooded! Just give me a nice hot rock in the sun any old time!
I'll save my virgins.. for the next (cold) day... we have..... I'm sure this nice weather wont last long.... have a great 4th!!!!

It's raining.
It's the Fourth of July.
It has stopped here, Pixy, and the sun is already coming out. And not enough rain to do anything. Sure did surprise me, though!
PIXY,
Ummm, HOW is RAIN a waste of a NICE day????? I dont get it, :P

But it did rain on the 4th of July......
Viv
For those of you north/east of me, it's starting to sprinkle and just heard a couple of thunder boomers. I just closed all my windows, temp is down to 65°. I'm still watering though, it doesn't look like it will amount to much.
Went to visit some friends on the west side of Whidbey and we had a whale of a thunder and lightening storm! It rained for a couple minutes, but didn't amount to much.
We came home and it hadn't rained at all, but there is a bit of a storm going on now (no rain, just thunder and lightening). Then someone will set off some firecrackers and I'm not sure which is which unless the lightening shows up!!
It is, after all, the Fourth of July!!! LOL - seem to me that I have heard that song before.
We were out on the sailboat when that little cloud blew over. We saw the lightening in the distance north of us and headed in the opposite direction. Ended up with perfect sailing weather - steady wind, not too hard, and warm enough to be able to enjoy it. The 4th is not my favorite holiday, so being out on the boat is the best balm.
