ID beetle thats leaving brown spots on my herbs (no pic)

Its a small to medium striped beetle thats hops around fast and leave brown spots on my herbs. its on almost all my herbs but not on surrounding roses or flowers. I sprayed with insecticial soap but don't know if that will kill them.
Does anybody know what they are?

Thanks! I looked it up and I think you are right... I think its a Striped Cucumber Beetle.

i had to use it on my roses. the squash bugs are merciless this year.
