Spit?!?

What "thing" is putting what looks likes to me "spit" on the limbs of some of my plants. I was watering my rose bush and I saw it again. I first noticed it in the grass around the pond. It's not frogs is it? I've seen it on a lot of stuff.

It's nasty looking. That is it. It always seems to be where the limbs meet the main stalk. I have seent thos bugs too but had no idea they did that? There not really harmful to the plants are they?

Actually they can suck the juice right out of a plant just like an aphid. They are usually easier to spot though since they leave that glob of evidence. I hope you can get rid of them. Sticking your hand in that sure is a shock. LOL

LOL .. gross eh? I found it awhile back when I was trying to find out who was spitting on my plants. For about 10 seconds though I though maybe the plant had rabies LOL. There is some really wierd stuff out there!

That is the baby stage (nymph) so they can't fly away. Just spray them off with the hose. Keeps them from becoming adults...They aren't prolific like aphids, so no damage of any consequence.

When plants begin to foam at the mouth, that is a problem indeed! LOL

I just saw someone else's picture of a stinkhorn fungus and remembered the first time I saw one of those sticking out of the ground. Ewwwww!
