Dishwasher Soap?

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

I ordered a plant from a company and on the care sheet they said that if the plant was wilty after shipping, I should add some dishwasher soap.

What does this do???

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

kill it? I have only heard of adding soap as a sticking agent for sprays. Ask them and see what they say.

Nice to see you around again:)

I use it as insect killer and I assumed that the phosphorous was good for bloom. Of course very dilute concentrations. 1:100 or whatever. Why would it kill my plants?

I know a small amount will make the soil more absorbent...

My mom said that about making the soil more absorbent also. I guess she was right after all!

It's good to be back Kim! I have much catching up to do!

Do you think they mean dishwasher or dishwashing soap? I"m think of dishwashing liquid.

I'm with Podster on this; there is an awful lot of chlorine in most dishwasher soap.

I keep a spray bottle of water and diswashing soap around to spray on plants for aphid control. I go around spraying once a month whether I see the little suckers or not. I don't measure, just put in a big squeeze in a quart size spray bottle.

Yes I'm talking Dawn not dishwasher soap. Major Chlorine!

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Yup, Dawn is what I use.
