Every spring i am awestruck by my peonies.
If only my peonies would bloom again and again like my dahlias and my dahlias would bloom as early as my peonies...
I would also like to put in a request for my lilacs to bloom like my buddleia and my buddelia to smell like my lilac.
Any other requests....
What would you change? Put in your requests...
I wish all these slugs would dry up and blow away!
If you move here to the desert they will. LOL
Unfortunately, you will have to dig your dahlias, canna etc. in the fall...
LOL I thought Katy said she wanted the slugs to blow up. I had to look twice.LOL
I wish all daylilies bloomed all summer long. I wish some annuals were perennial. I wish I didn't have to dig up my tropicals AND they would live. LOL I could be here making requests all day. Guess I better work instead....
I wish the ants would stop farming aphids on some of my prettiest shrubs, like cestrums and malvia!
I wish my otherwise perfect bearded iris had any kind of wonderful scent to go along with their fabulous dark purple color, gorgeous evergreen foliage and reblooming habits.
I wish slugs AND snails would blow up, blow away, whatever....just GO away, that would be perfect.
I wish Bermudagrass had never been invented. I got rid of it on our property, but it spread to the neighbors, and now theirs keeps trying to come back into ours!
I wish a beautiful gladiola smelled as beautiful....

I would change my climate ever so slightly so that I could grow peony's. I miss them .. I had them in Virginia and in England.

I would wish for rain in the middle of the night a soft gentle one and the sun all day. Oh and by the way NO WEEDS!!!!!!!
I wish my neighbor's tree that puts out all the helicopter seeds would vanish into thin air, never to return.
I wish birdseed would not sprout and/or the seeds I planted, would sprout as vigorously as the birdseed. I wonder what would happen if I started putting flower seeds in the birdfeeder?
I love watching the robins take a bath, but I wish all the water they spalshed about would fall back into the birdbath instead of out.
Ahhh... Shangrala
Camelot....no rain between certain hours....certainly not those boomers that wake you up at 2 AM....and perhaps followed by a goose drowner at 3 AM...and perhaps more rumbles at 4 AM.
We could use some of that about now...
I wish that it was spring so I could see my flowring cherry tree in bloom.
I wish that my dog would not make bare patches on the lawn when she 'spends a penny'
I wish that all the cuttings I take would grow properly instead of some of them sulking or even worse, dying!
I wish that I could remember all the names of my plants!
I wish that my trees would grow more quickly.
I wish that all my wishes would come true. LOL
Where did the "spends a penny" phrase originate?
My two big requests for the Gods Of Gardeners:
1. Please transform my soil into anything but mud-when-it's-wet-cement-when-it's-dry stick-to-your-shoes wreak-your-tiller break-your-back CLAY. Ugh!
2. Please convince the deer, woodchucks, rabbits, chipmunks, and other vegetarian vermin to only consume English ivy, poison ivy, and dandelions. Goodness knows I've got enough of each on my property to keep everyone well fed without resorting to munching on my gardens.

I wish I could grow peonies and lilacs and all those gorgeous plants and trees that look so beautiful in the Pacific Northwest. I wish for assurance that my tropicals will not freeze in the winter, but that the pests will.

I wish the roses didnt have thorns!
Podster, Hi.
"spend a penny". originated from the fact that, years ago, when one used a public toilet, one had to insert a penny to unlock the door. With the rising cost of living over the years it has now risen to 50 cents. Well, that is what I had to pay a few years when I viited a local council toilet facility. Not coin in the slot any more, I had to pay at the office before the doors opened.
Luckily, I wasn't in a hurry! LOL
Whoa... The cost of "doing business"! Never had heard that phrase before even tho I knew what you meant. Thanks pod
pay to pee? That's one thing we don't have here - as far as I know, but I bet your toilets are cleaner than ours!
We used to have pay toilets in MA when I was little (in the '70s), they discontinued the practice because it was discriminatory to women (apparently you didn't have to pay to use a urinal).
My mother, who is an extremely refined, elegant Yankee type, used to say, Here I sit broken hearted, I paid a dime and only... well, you can guess the rest. :)

How refined...I love it!
What makes it funny is, my mother IS very refined...just once in a while she pops up with some off color thing out of who knows where. :)
