I've been having major problems with my roses. This morning I noticed a lot of little white bugs (can't actually see them clearly, they look like grains of salt) all over my rose buds (that have just formed).
Any idea what these are and what I can do about them? I sprayed with the hose hoping it would knock them off.
Thanks,
kim
Tiny white bugs on rose buds?
Smaller than aphids? I'd try soapy water spray.
Not sure if they're aphids or not. I thought aphids were green, red, or black. These are very small and white. So small I can't even tell what exactly it looks like. I sprayed the bushes with the hose and it knocked most of them off but later on I still noticed some. They don't fly away when you disturb them. Haven't actually gotten the nerve to poke one to see if it moves. I did notice a lot of ants on the leaves, which I know are attracted by aphids, so maybe that's what it is.
Aphids come in just about any color. It's even possible that what you are seeing is the shed "skin" of the aphid, which is left behind when they grow out of it. It is white, and of course, doesn't move. LOL But if you have the shed skins, then you have the aphids somewhere. They're just bigger now.
