I'm posting in every forum I can hoping someone can help me. Don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but we had new sod put down in our backyard last Monday. Tuesday our lawn pest control company came out for their regular spraying and I told the guy we just had new sod put down. Not sure what exactly he sprayed or if this is even part of the problem. We've been running the sprinklers heavily in the a.m. to help the sod. Now everything that's in the line of runoff is having major issues. I have several rose bushes planted along the back wall and Sunday I noticed a few plants had brown, almost burned looking leaves. Leaves turn brown, then wilt totally. A few of the plants look almost totally wilted. Some have yellowing leaves near the bottom (overwatered perhaps?). Sunday I noticed the meyers lemon tree (15' tall) is discolored. Only half of the tree now has yellow, curled leaves and looks very droopy. Other half of the tree looks healthy. I just planted (on Sunday) two rose climbers that now have the same leaf problems. They are in the back of a perennial bed. Perennials don't seem affected, but there is a trench around the bed that ends just to the right of the first climber, so it's possible water from the lawn is running into the trench and towards the back where it seeps into the soil near the climbers.
Does this look like a chemical problem? Haven't seen any insects to note. If it is from the lawn chemicals, is there anything I can do to save these plants?????
Thanks,
Kim
Here's a picture of the affected rose leaves before they wilt.
HELP! I'm about to lose my whole yard!
It certainly sounds like a chemical problem - as in - an herbicide. I would call that lawn service company immediately and find out what was used. The usual last gasp measure is to water, water, water the damaged area in an attempt to leach out or dilute the chemical. That would mean watering your beds, not your lawn. Sounds like you have a real problem.
I second what Ceejay said........looks like herbicide damage. If the plants had a chance to take up the herbicide into their systems, there may not be anything you can do to save them, but watering to leach the chemical out is a start.
How's your garden doing now and you could also post here http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/region_fl/all/
We have several Master gardeners that maybe able to help you out.

I'd call that lawn company and telll them to get their butts out there now...that your plants are suffering chemical burn from what he sprayed and that they are responsible. Its possible that he mixed up too strong a solution, and he should have know that you were going to be watering the sod alot and that there is runoff-. If they tell you they are not the problem, let me know and I will run it by all the landscapers that I sell to. Find out what he sprayed
Hey, Sugarweed! I'm an MG too! Class of '93. Nice to meetcha!

Thanks for the replies! I *think* everything's ok now. I put fertilizer around the tree and we had a really good rain. The tree looks a little better. Still have 3 roses with burn on them, one's a goner (but I think it had other problems to begin with). Even the roses with the burn are starting to bud and bloom so I guess they're all right.
Landscapers "don't know what happened" and "didn't put anything on the lawn that should hurt the plants" but will replace the plants that die because we're a "good customer". Yeah, a good customer that's going to fire them as soon as they replace what's dead!
Thanks everyone!
Kim
They still have to tell you what they used on the lawn.
Gwen
Absolutely. You don't want them to do it again.
GARD,
Good customer or not, I would think that if they "didn't put anything on the lawn that should hurt the plants" they WHY are they so willing to replace the plants???
Regards;
bluelytes
there is something to be said for them that they are willing to replace the plants...not all companies would do that. People are not perfect-everyone makes mistakes-I am impressed that they would committ to making it right.
