8 Days now, 7+ inches of rain.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I heard somewhere in MA got 1 foot of rain in ONE day?!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Anybody else being invaded with caterpillars?

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I thought I had them eating my rose leaves. Turned out to be the leafcutter bee!!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

That was in a weekend.
The count in one town is now up to 16 inches in the past week.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Serious flooding 50 miles north of here

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Oh my. That is incredible! Our local news said Mass hasn't received this kind of rain in 70 years.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

We were getting close to drought conditions here until about a month or so ago. FINALLY some rain storms but nothing the gutters couldn't handle.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

We were under a Fire Warning for a month before this.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

The only thing growing here is this Cedar Fungus.

They were close to start water rationing rules here.

I hope your weather eases up on you, I heard talk of rivers cresting there! I can't imagine.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

sarah are you close to any of the flooding?? Hope you are high and dry...Lauri

Wimauma, FL(Zone 9b)

Hi All,

I so wanted to chat!

Oh well

Florida finally got some rain today, too. We didn't get as much as I had hoped - less than an inch here - but that is a whole lot more than we have had in the past few months.

Diane

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

OH NASTY! Cedar fungas! I'd never heard of it!!!! Don't forget the mosquitoes.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

No floods around here but the worst in 70 years up north.
Very Bad

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Anyone ever had leafcutter bees?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

The Slimy Fungus will disappear as soon as the sun comes out.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Diane, how are the fires there?? Glad ya finally got some rain. Here it is 98 and our normal should be 85ish and tomorrow we hit 100...Lauri

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Nope, No leaf cutter bees here, just loads of caterpillars.
It's been so wet we can't spray.

Wimauma, FL(Zone 9b)

Wow, Lauri!

That is incredibly hot. I haven't heard about any nearby fires today - but I heard they closed I-95 on the east coast yesterday due to a fire that jumped the interstate. There was a waterspout today on Terra Ceia Bay - kind of at the bottom of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge - not too far from me. I think alligators head the "disasters" list in Florida this week... although I am not sure you could qualify them as disasters... just horrible, though.

Can't believe I haven't got on for chat in at least a few weeks - couldn't get on then and cannot get to the chat tonight either.

Wimauma, FL(Zone 9b)

Ah well - I need to clean my house anyway...

But I was so looking forward to chat!

Diane

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I see blue sky !!!!!!!!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I see blue sky too. Darn it is hot out there already. 15 degrees above normal for here. The high temp today was 94 degrees and tomorrow supposed to hit 100. I HATE hot weather! I vote for mid 70s year round with a few days in the low 80s and a few in the 60s That would be my perfect climate.

Wimauma, FL(Zone 9b)

Hurray, Andy!

There is more than one glitch going on at DG... the "Ah well" post is one I tried to post when this thread first opened - it wouldn't go through... now here it is. Huh?

Diane

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Aimee, I have had Leafcutters in my past. We had them on the place because a farmer was raising alfalfa for its seeds and they are great for pollination for that plant.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Ah well is lost in cyber space but now found. lol

Nauvoo, AL(Zone 7a)

Rained forever here. One tomato row outback is ruined. Too soggy. I have to pull all 25 plants up. They look awful. Embarrassing actually. The front yard is so wet you cannot cut grass cause the lawn mower gets stuck. I guess i should not complain. I am blessed cause We did not flood. I cannot imagine all the broken hearts and homes right now due to floods. But at the same time- I have to take care of what is in my life.
Meanwhile---I need a drip irrigation system for the summer drought coming up. We always get a drought.
