Dave, I am sorry not to answer your question, have not ben with this threat for a while. First of all my made a a typo error, it is LILIUM , a type of genus Liliaceae
What do you have growing....
Thank you Maria.
Wow! They are gorgeous! Do you have good luck getting them to come back?
Dave
some times they do and sometimes they do not, lol, these came back, every year I get new ones, just in case. that awful rain and wind we had broke some of them off, grrrrr even broke some of my tomatoes that just started to bloom,, had 8"
Wow that's a lot of rain!
The rain is bugging me. Nothing worse than having a plant with 1 bloom time and finding nothing but soggy blooms that fall apart.
RI just got hit with 5 inches yesterday.
AAAAhggg. Rain is yucky. I am so sick of it......
Sometimes it seems the only thing that grows in all that rain is weeds. And mold. YUCK. We've been lucky here on the other side of the mountains...some rain, some sun, warm for the plants...but goodness knows it's a mess up there in New England. See any animals go by two by two yet? :)

Good question, Phuggins.... Saw some birds out yesterday for about 15 minutes, then they disappeared again for the rest of the day.
LOL, Phuggins, I swear I saw them as they were herded in to the arch
One thing that's really growing, the Hens & Chicks.
I've never seen mine so big.

I'm still so new at this that ANYTHING that comes up and blooms again is exotic and exciting for me! I had some beautiful peonies and english roses, but the rain beat the living daylights out of them. Still, I got some pictures, which I'll post when I'm on the "picture computer." I have a gorgeous sage bush, plus one lavender that's starting, and some bellflowers. I'll also send photos. But I just planted a whole huge cottage garden in the front yard, so the really good pix will be next year! Don't hold your breath, now...
Hurry, Mrg, I am 'holding' my breath, your garden sounds wonderful
Edited to say
Andy, I like hens and chicken but do not have any, think I'll get some

I have some hens and chicks in a pot and they just look wet! But my Weeping Katsura tree, shrubs and especially butterfly bushes are out of control! Also my violas are about 12 inches tall and just flopped over yesterday!
Meg, I am the same way...I am so new that anything that comes up or simply fails to die once I put it into the ground is a little miracle. Whoo hoo! I am also planting a sort of modified cottage garden in the front of my house...I'd actually be very interested to see pix of yours NOW (as opposed to next year :) ) to get an idea of what a NEWLY planted bed looks like...get some idea if I'm doing mine properly. :) What plants did you put in yours? I see we're in the same zone. :)

Hello,
I am new to DG, love the site. Enjoy the dialog with other garden fanatics. I can't stand this rain! It seems that every year the rain washes our my peonies. I have very old house with the previous owner residing here for over 30 years. She planted some peonies that are now at least 40 years old. They are gorgeous when the weather cooperates. Here is a pic from last year.
I can see why that Iris is a favorite, very pretty.
Andy P
Which one is that? Do you know? I am looking for one that color. It's beautiful.
gardenobsession, Those are both great!
I love Irises too..I wish they lastest longer. My peonies did well this year, that is, until the rain knocked them over!
yum, Andy
No strawberries here but equally nice to see the sun!
I've been a buying & planting fool this spring and my gardens are now full (but not my bank account) Just planted 4 more roses (that's about 10 this year; 20 if you count minis) 3 daylilies and a couple/three dozen perennials.
I guess I'll have to start weeding now.
Dave, is there any room for the weeds, LOL
Andy P
That's the idea Andy! Goal: little or no mulching or weeding.
Ivy1,
The peach colored iris is Affluence and the White/Purple one is Rare Treat.
Wow! This is just gorgous, Andy
I love your combination of peony, columbine and daisy!
Thanks, guys. The Daisy is one of those 'weeds' that get yanked as soon as it is nearly done blooming. The last of my Gladiolas will go in there, maybe next week.
The Peony is an old standard my neighbor gave me when I set up this perennial bed about 5 years ago.
Andy P
Andy, your lovely daisy hardly looks like a weed!
Guess I am very partial to any kind of daisy, Andy,
don't have any growing around here, unless I plant some and I do, they always look so cheerful.
I don't want to sound like a grinch, but this wild one gets out of control.
I allow a few to bloom every year to keep them around, they are pretty.
It all started with one I found growing in the lawn, I moved it to the garden, duhhhh.
The rest is history.
Andy P
Mrs. Bigcity was trying to have me bring that home from the Roundup - I held firm and said no. She has a penchant for 'wild' plants that spread like crazy
