Kayellen, I think for most gardeners, its a treat to have our brains picked or our plants copied. If I ever have an idea, I hope you steal it!
Dave
What do you have growing....
Kayellen, I planted Russian sage last year for the first time in western NY and I love it. Not blooming yet this year, but it's alive & well. This picture was taken last spring just after it was planted. It's in my butterfly/hummingbird garden...2 plants near the boulders and it comes up tall and lacy with the little blue flowers...so pretty. good luck with yours. gram
Gram - Thanks. I'm always thankful to just have a plant come up again the following year! What a peaceful spot - makes me think of picnics.
bigcityal - That's a pretty little aster plant. I really enjoy your photos.
dave - I've probably already stolen some of your ideas - I am glad that you don't mind.
Al, that Centaura is very nice, I can see the resemblance to the others. I only have the one plant, not flashy enough for me, LOL.
My neighbor has a few Russian Sage 'Perovskia'?. If my street side flower bed ever gets planted I may put one in there. The builder next door says 2 more weeks before landscaping goes in. That's when he will fill in the mess he made, with top soil.
All my plants are in pots, waiting and waiting. I had to bump up the pot size on the Daylilies and Balloon flower.
My Blackberries are starting to flower. 8 weeks to picking.
Andy P
wow Andy! That's a very early flower, isn't it?
I have flowers on my basket tomatoes and eggplant!
Dave, maybe a bit early for me.
My seedlings did very well this year.
I was very careful after last years near disaster.
Andy P
Just ate my first strawberry! It would have been sweeter tomorrow but then I might have had to share it with a squirrel. My blackberries are blooming, too. The peonies got knocked down by the rain. :( The very first of the lillies are blooming - tiny little orange tiger lilly like ones. Maybe I can get a picture tomorrow - if it doesn't rain all day!
Anita has flowers too! My tomatoes are tiny with all the cool weather until last week.
My new mini roses have been blooming and now my big roses are starting.
Lupine are looking great. I love them. Hope the rain doesn't beat them up too bad.
I have only one rose bush. It has a lovely bud, in a spot I can't get a good shot of, booo
Andy P
If its not too wet tomorrow, I'll get some pictures.
Andy, Why don't you just deadhead??
Dave, I tried dead-heading. There were too many plants, these are wild ones.
Now I use them for early color, yank them out, fill holes with compost and either let the neighboring plant fill in or plant a late bloomer. They are like weeds here, never a shortage.
They have an unpleasant fragrance, not good for bouquets.
Andy P
Wow! That must be a lot of daisies! Do you know what type they are?
Dave, no idea what type. They are somewhat invasive, every garden has them, the lawn, anywhere with enough sun.
They were here when the house was built, 20 years ago.
Andy P
Oh, Your blossoms looked bigger than the ones that grow wild here, Looked more like my shastas.
OK. I was fooled!
Mulberries are getting ripe around here!! When I was a kid, I'd eat so many that I'd get intestinal problems..... The Black Cherries are also almost ripe as well, and judging by the status of the fruits, Black Raspberries should be on in another two-three weeks. I'll be taking some pics of my garden soon, but I've got a wedding to go to next week, and the week after that, I'm going to N. Carolina for some hardy palms (S. 'Birmingham' and S. minor 'Mc Curtain'), and I'll take the pics once I get done planting everything.... I also just got Dave Fracnko's book (Palms Won't Grow Here and other myths), and it says that Aspidistra elaitor (Cast Iron Plant) is hardy to Zone 6, so I bought two half-gallon pots at the local nursery, and planted them under the bamboo grove (making sure I didn't accidentally cut or damage my bamboos rhizomes), along with two Sacred Lilies (Rohdea japonica) that I got from Lazy S's last week. I also just got all of my Amorphophallus konjac in the ground..... I had to dig out about 10 gallons of dirt, which I replaced with a mix of 100lb of pea gravel and topsoil to ensure that they had the drainage they need (so they don't get crown rot in the winter), along with two Spice Bushes. Once I get the palms from NC, I'll be pretty much done planting, so that's why I'll take the pics then.
I've got a pic!
Dave,
I think your first one in Frittilaria(Crown Imperial). The Clematis is nice.
I like your woodland shot there with the Iris.

Well shut my mouth you're right. That is an odd looking allium flower - not at all oniony.
excellent pics Dave.
Hikaro - I am so looking forward to seeing some of your pics too!
My first Peony.
Andy P
Al, I planted Cosmos one year, had them for 3 years.
Andy P
Nice! You've got blooms already too.
Cat, I saw them at the nursery last week, in bloom.
I wondered where they were grown.
Enjoy it, Butterfly bushes are great.
