I just came from Lowes. I had to have some silicone caulk. And you know, there is NO way to enter the store without going thru the garden center. I know folks claim there is a "front" entrance, but I must be blind. The only entrance I've ever seen was thru the garden center.
And right there in front, I couldn't believe my eyes. An ENTIRE rack of plants for $30!!! And none of you were around for me to elbow outta the way. (That's really why nurseries must have liability/accident insurance--in case someone gets hurt in a fight over plants.) So, since y'all weren't there in my way, I marched right up to the clerk and said, I'll take it.
My poor Sam begrudgingly gave up "his" seat so I could fold it up and start piling in the plants. He looks just pitiful once I get the van fully loaded. I think he's claustrophobic.
So I arrived home with these:
77 full and fluffy one-gallon pots of Scabiosa Harlequin Blue
36 four inch pots of various annuals, mostly petunias, but also some unique marigolds
24 six-packs of various annuals, mostly white wave petunias but also some unique marigolds
I did remember my silicone this time too! LOL
Now, don't ya wish you'd gotten there first?

I Beat Ya to the Lowes Clearance Rack AGAIN!!!
Aw what a deal, but poor Sam, I feel so sorry that he had to give up his seat for your treasures!! LOL
Sam does get a little paranoid. I think he's afraid he may be booted out or become a hood ornament if I decide to carry home more plants than I have room for. Here's a picture from my vacation in TX last year. I was loading up the van with all the new plants I picked up in TX (an entire vanload), and you can tell Sam got quite worried and quickly reclaimed half of his seat, fearing he would have to become a Texan if he didn't get in the van quick. LOL
I just love Lowes clearance racks!!!! I just got 6 sun coleus for 10 cents a piece! Also a new guinea impatien for a quarter! The impatient just need a good soaking and was good as new in a half hour. I have gotten some fabulous bargains off the clearance rack at Lowes.
where the heck do they put the clearance racks?? great job guys!!!
Well, not all Lowe's will clearance anything. My Lowe's has clearance racks sporadically. I check two or three times a week and usually I find a few racks on clearance. Sometimes they're near the register in the garden center. Sometimes they're in the back corner of the garden center. And sometimes they're in an aisle somewhere where they've just gathered up the plants they are clearancing. You kinda have to "sniff em out". LOL
They used to clearance individual items, like everything on this rack is a buck each. But I guess that was just too tiring for them to check out. So now they clearance whole racks of GOOD plants (not half dead) for $10 to $30 a rack.
They don't have clearance racks everyday. I just have to keep checking. When they do have clearance racks, they go quickly. The landscapers in town will scarf them right up...if I don't beat 'em to 'em. You gotta get up pretty early in the morning to beat me to 'em! LOL
thanks...my town doesn't even have a lowes...so i will have to dream(grin) great job tho!!!
Do you have a walmart? This morning, I got a bunch of columbines for 1.25 each. And I got some one-gallon perennials 1/2 off. Our walmart clearances plants regularly too. But you just have to search for the clearance tags.
I went to Lowes here and cleaned up on $2 20# evergreen fertilizer (#20 bags), and I got a bunch of Liquid Ironite for 1.50, and I got 6 bare root fruit trees for 6.74 each. Now I have to find a place for the orchard. Oh Boy! Oh yeah and cleaned out there Fertilizer tree spikes for $2.
Man... I need to go shopping!!!
Hey Butterfly
If you want to make Sam a Texan, send him my way; he's a beauty. LOL . . . .
