I have several of the metal labels where the plants died or just didn't come up in the first place and I'd like to re-use them. The roblem is that the white Brother labels won't budge. Is there any way to get them off?
Getting Labels Off
You can hold the marker over a burner on your stove and the heat will loosen the glue. BE CAREFUL!! Hold the marker by the end of the metal stake and hold only the faceplate over the heat. Let it cool just enough to touch and then peel the label off.
OR
You can get a little mini scraper at a paint store or Lowes. These are only about 2 x 2. They are plastic and come in a variety of pretty colors. And they snap open to hold a little straight blade. If you go this route, BE CAREFUL. Scrape gently away from you. Usually if you'll peel up one edge, you can peel it off, if it hasn't been baked on for too long. I usually peel mine off this way while watching TV. I have stabbed myself a few times by being impatient with a label.
Good luck!
Oil or peanut butter will help to loosen the adhesive. I like to use UNDU, it's an adhesive remover for scrapbookers. You can use it on paper and it does not leave a stain.
I like the thought of not using heat. Where do I get UNDU? I have something called Goof Off. Would that do?
elsie,
You right about the peanut butter. Take a small amount on your finger tip and rub it in in a cicular motion, keep doing it it will come off.
I think I got the UNDO in the craft department at Walmart.
GOO GONE ...at Walmart for sure. It will cut the stickiest stuff. It is probably hazardous to our health but it smells good ~ like oranges and it works so that makes it o.k. . Spritz it on and let it soak. I even use it on greasy stains on laundry and it doesn't damage fabric. On plastic items, it won't melt the plastic. Worth a try and you won't get burned fingers, peeled hide or fat from eating the peanut butter.
That sounds like a good product. I still haven't had a chance to attact the labels, but I may be able to this weekend.
I love my goo gone .. got it at home depot.

Mineral oil. Cheap and effective.
