Coffee and.....May 2, Tuesday

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Good Evening, we are continued from here http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/597379/#new

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Molly for the new thread. I am still up and seems like sleep will be awhile to come. Don't know what the problem is, but just not sleepy yet.

So I am first this morning. Hope all has a good night.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

And here I am...somewhat the worse for wear but having a real cup of coffee instead of water. It's making me burp, but it sure tastes good. Thanks for all the good thoughts, between those and Sammi constantly tending me, I'm back to life. Boy, that was nasty! I have no idea what it was but I've ruled out food, so maybe just a bad flu bug. Going to take it easy on the solids for a bit until I see how things have settled down.

Ann, was it you who asked about reporting the people with the kittens to the authorities? Since they were from out of town, and I have no idea where they actually lived, (they were at a friends house) I don't think a lot of effort would have gone into tracking them down. And I dont think they were abused, just not well cared for. And I don't think they were well socialized, they were wild! Didn't want to be handled, so I suspect these were just ignorant /careless breeders.

Everyone seems to be enjoying the rain. Ours has been slow and steady so the ground is soaking it up well. The fog is so thick this morning I can barely see across the road. I need to take a walk around the perimeter this morning and see if any more plants are emerging, there's lamb's ears that should be up. They are far away from the house because the bees just love them. I'll stop in later after a much needed shower and shampoo, and catch up some more.

Good morning guys. I couldnt believe I was actualy asleep at 1 am, usualy I just get to bed by then. I spent Sunday putting mulch on the front beds and yesterday dug up a big hosta and packed it off to 5 different people. My body is letting me know its not happy but at least its not super ticked off at me, LOL. The front yard sure does look a whole lot better now so it was worth every second.

I actualy had my neighbor notice a tiny side bed that I put in between my fence and his driveway, that was cool. Its technicly his property in that spot so I asked him if it was ok before I did, glad I did because the spot was just dirt, mostly shade and looked really deprived. Still considering what else to put in there, I have room for one more thing. I put in an ostrich fern, painted fern and I Francise(francee?) Willianms hosta and with the mulsh surrounding them it looks fantastic.

Now today is gonna be spent catching up on household stuff and folding lots of laundry. Glad I have a good coffee maker.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

m5- I was hoping Sammi would be your "Little Angel of Mercy" LOLOL. Glad you're feeling better. I hate stomach sickness the most.... I hope we get some rain soon. If you have any left over, send it here!

Irish Spring is a popular deer deterrent here.

sarv-sounds like you had some fun!! Glad your greenhouse plants survived your absence too.

Mary-LOL about the culvert moving. I'll have to remember that, a couple bottles of booze is a small price to pay!! I would also like to get a nice big cistern for spring water. I have so much to research though, that will be awhile.

Joyous-I'm saving the photo of the rain barrels. I like that system! Very clever design. Our black flies came out Saturday.....AAARRRGGH

darius-I love the family photo! What a nice gift for the kid. I hate to say it but last time I was in Salvation Army there was a silver chest there for like $3. I noticed it because when I wanted one a few years ago, I found out how much they cost new! But you have a time limit, I know...

Ann-you're on the run as usual! Congrats on losing the lbs! That's got to be exciting- it would sure make my day to have my pants fitting!!

dcat-Your day sounded busy yesterday too. I need a rainy day (just one good one though) to get anything done inside! Did you get DM's curtains hung?

Mary-How about a picture of AP and the windmill? I'm looking forward to seeing both!

Okay, refill time, back in a few ~~~~waving~~~~~

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Wow, 47 degrees outside! I've been out to take a couple of pictures, but close to the house. Going out to the daylily field I would really get numb in the fingers.

It's a good thing I put the cardinal climber seedlings back in the shed before bedtime. They had their first day out hardening off yesterday. I sure don't want to hurt them now. They germinated and grew 2-3 inches in 2 days! Ya gotta lovem.

My cell phone quit working 3 days ago. I have to go to town to get Verizon to fix it (which they probably can't) or to buy a new one. For the second option, I need that check to get here. If I stay home, I won't need the cell phone. So I stay home today and work on getting the pile of mulch moved.

Yesterday afternoon I was clearing more land for making bigger parking spaces a little further from the house. Jeremy cleared some spaces off the driveway closer to the front so people have a place to park when they come to the roundup in June.

Sure is a lot of work raking up wood debris. I'm trying to keep the debris all in piles so it will compost away. In 6-8 more months I will have piles of black dirt. De ja vu, I think I said that yesterday.

Just call me Pete and Repete.

I"m up - slept an unbelieveable 10 hrs - haven't done this in absolutely years!! Had pleasant dreams too.

Cloudy and cool here, but warm weather coming. Things are popping in the greenhouse. I can't wait to get them in the ground.

M5- sounds like you had the major crud- is there a good side (ya lost weigh??) Haven't had that in literally years and hope I don't get it!

Today is senior citizen day at my favorite greenhouse, but I am so pooped, that I don't think I can even drag my bootie there. But I am going to h/p (not that I want to tho!!)

I've read the posts from when I was gone, but CRS has set in - despite me downing an english muffing and coke...so I'll just say HI to everyone and it is good to be home with you all again

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL, DMC I think you have me confused with Defoecat, Im not hanging curtains for my self let alone my DM, she does that better than I can anyway. I do need to pick a couple of days to go to her house and clean up her front yarden for her. I do it for her every year and throw down mulch for her. I enjoy how it looks afterword and watching her just sit around enjoying it. This year Im thinning out her iris too and seeing what else I have here to add for her.

Sarv Im glad your feeling better and back.

Molly you never seem to loose your energy, how the heck do you do it?! Can ya spare some or alot?

OK need to take Isabelle to school so she can get some learning.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Yep Janet, I do lose my energy, but you don't think I'm gonna send out a picture of that do you? Yesterday, I just couldn't haul another twig. Seems like everything I pushed on that pitchfork fell off before I could get it to the wheelbarrow.

I woke up this morning stiff in the neck and shoulders and had to stop to think "what did I do now?"

I wake up with dreams at night. People are giving me plants and the five acres are full and there is no place to put them except in my bed.

My point? I am gardening 24 hours a day it seems.

Mary, nope haven't got a paying job yet. I have this one more project to get done (the orchid house) then I will get a job. If I go to work, I won't have time for home projects. So just one more........

Molly
:^)))

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL, I told DH I got some of the plants off of the deck, when I took out that hosta I put 3 daylilies in its place. But I didnt tell him I have more coming in to take up the empty space I just made on the deck, LOLOL.

Molly today is the day I go digging your plants. I am going to shove as much as I can into that box. I have some Flore Plenos that Im gonna dig up and a big pot full of plain ditchlilies that I decided to get off the deck. Some unknowns might go in that box if there is any room, that could add some extra color to the frontage there.

Meezers Im glad your feeling better too.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Awwwww Janet, thanks so much. I'm glad spring has sprung for ya too.

:^))))

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Spring may have sprung but you seem to be getting all the dl blooms, of course it would be hard not to with all you just put in. I can almost picture how different its gonna look next year after everything has had some time to really establish. Wow its gonna be gorgeous I know.

I keep going outside and thinking "what can I plant where" then I get to looking at what I have and my mind goes totaly blank. Go figure. But boy is my deck gonna be pretty this year, LOL.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

It sure will Janet and we need pictures of your place too!!!!!

Molly

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Pics will come when everything dosnt look quite so motly, or at least more lush than it is now. I have pots to move to the front bed that sit on a tree stump. Gotta decorate the treestump.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, slept late, but not a cause for celebration, as I didn't go to bed until about 3:00 am. Mr. B always waits for me, and the little stinker is still in bed. Bet he wishes I could get my clock fixed!!

Well it rained again last night, so it is still too wet to get out and do much. Have some errands this morning, then will probably work on something inside.

So I will be back later to comment.

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

WHAT !!!!! Several post and nobody is talking food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL Sorry Oz, I only drink coffee for breakfast. I did make bbq chcken breast for dinner last night, does that count? The sides were pretty simple, just made tortillas and peas. Making the tortillas is the best part as my 6 year old loves to help me roll them into balls and then squish them flat, hows that for one on one time?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

M5, SO glad you are feeling better!

Today is a "work" day for my sister and me. Our "Prison Bus" will be here Thursday after work so we can load it up with all that's already packed. That way Bruce will have more space to finish the touch-up work and the house will be less cluttered when it's listed and shown. That also means Judi and I have to get in gear and pack up more of her stuff today and again on Thursday.

BTW, won the auction for the cherry silverwear chest. Bonnie, I know I probably could have driven around to all the thrift shops looking for a used one, but with the lack of time and the price of gas, bidding was a better option. I also have a bid on another silverwear chest, much older and not as nice but it does have dovetail corners.

I have the family silver (plate) but no chest. It will be nice to have a chest from the same era to protect it rather than rattling around in a drawer. I DO use it all the time, same with my "good" china (when it's not all packed and in storage, LOL).

OZ, you only stop by for the food???

BBL, waving to everyone ~~~

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Well it is 7 here and I am just getting going..have to get moving ...need more coffee..
I can't believe how much AP and Sammi are growing, they are getting to be such pretty kitttys and make me want another....I showed my DS the MTV and he thought that was sooo funny.
Mary I love that you can get help so cheaply, sounds like where we live. It's amazing what a cold pack of beer will get ya here..
Sheila glad to hear you are getting better. If ya can get some yougart into ya it will help get the good bugs back into your system...
Sarv sounds like you had a great sleep. Wish I could do that but I am a 4-5 hour a nite sleeper. LOL too bad my house does'nt reflect it....
Ann, kudos on the lb loss!!! I wish my pants would fit...I have several in the closet just waiting to see daylight....
dcat, you could post before and after pictures of things....I too have a stump to decorate in the full hot sun...

Oh I talked to MG last nite. She is one neat lady!!! I think we may have been sisters in a previous life...we are too much alike... We gabbed for 3 hours LOL untill her cell phone about went dead..She sure misses everyone and says Hi to all.
~~~waves to all I missed as CRS has set in and need more coffee and the pot is empty. Just know I read all the posts and you are all in my thoughts...Have a great day ...bbl.......Lauri
Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)
Well I went back and checked yeasterday and no mention of food there either. WOW. Must all be on diets to get into your bathing suits. What you are had for dinner last night sound like what some of them eat for breakfast.
I have been very busy ,but today is going to be a slowdown time. These old legs are rebelling against all this stuff. Was up 1/2 the night with cramped up legs all locked up. finally got them flexing again with a heating pad. This time of the year I have to cut the grass every other day and it is on a hill. Plus all the gardening and horseshoes 2 evenings a week. I shot a 38% ringer rate average last night so I will put up with the other stuff as long as I can. I think a lot of it is due to having dual knee replacement.
Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)
Morning all. Hope the group is feeling well and looking forward to a wonderful day. Put in a gate yesterday and may get to embellishing the posts with shingles today. Out in the front garden this morn picking up snails. Something new in the last 2 or 3 years. Been here 30 years and nary a snail. Must have come in with some nursery plants and decided to stay. Not as nasty as slugs, but still a pest. Would love to answer all the posts but have to get ready for a trip to the big town (Everett) 10 miles from home.
Looking great, as usual, Robert!
Oh bal- the gate is gorgeous....I love things that are unusual.
Oz - I went to a Jewish deli while gone and had matz ball soup (don't like the 'balls) and a huge potato pancake that was the best thing I have ever had!! Specialty pizza place we had creamy basil dressing that I need to find the recipe for and a greek pizza- I had it for breakfast the next day!!
I need to think about something 'warm' for dinner. It is cold and rainy here, but we need the rain so badly, that I won't complain. But it better bamboose tomorrow!!
I see a bird on my birdbox that had two dead birds in it ( neighbor cleaned it out for woosie me) Hopefully it isnt the rotten sparrows that keep trying to next there...
Almost time for lunch!!
Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)
Good morning morning glories!
It's another fine day in the neighbourhood. We had a most horrid weekend, wind, rain and cold, but Mother Nature is making up for it today, and hopefully the rest of the week.
We have birdies making nests, nesting and brooding chicks all over the property. I can hardly come home during the day now without getting scolded or dive bombed by one species or the other. I don't mind though, it's fascinating to see these little creatures work so hard and raise the new generation. We have a nest in the bird house just 15 feet from the front door of the sweetest little chickadees. Mama doesn't protest a bit when we sit and watch her and Papa bird come and go. I know she's still setting on the nest as I've used a dental mirror and pocket flashlight and looked down in the bird house and saw the eggs. I'll be excited to see the new hatchlings.
I have to take Mum to the podiatrist this afternoon for her every 3 months foot check and toenail clipping. Since she's diabetic and so elderly, I've gotten her on a schedule with the local podiatrist who treats her like gold. He always teases with her a bit and talks with her about the Mariner's and who's playing well and who needs to go back to the farm leagues. When he's done, he always gives her a wonderful foot massage with Eucerin cream. I really like this guy, he's very friendly and always so respectful towards her. BTW, Mum is a huge baseball fan, started watching baseball in her late 70's and gets quite animated when there is a game on TV. Her all time favourite was Joey Cora who played 2nd base when he was with the Mariner's. She said for a little man, he always gave his all and played with his heart. Now she's an Ichiro fan and wears her Ichiro hat ball cap when the game is on TV.
I hope to get some chores done today before I head into town. I did manage to get a shot of one of the hummingbirds at the feeder this morning. I'm amazed, with everything in bloom at the moment, the birds still hit up the feeder.
Take care all, enjoy your day and please stay safe as you go through your day. Hugs to everyone! ~Babs~
Back from running my errands. I put a load of jeans in the washer, and then headed out to the garage to put a coat of polyurathane on a pine planter that a friend made me. The morning started out sunny, but it is clouding up and more rain predicted for this afternoon. Does nothing for the mood!!
M5, glad you are feeling better, and Sammi was such a wonderful nurse. Mr. B treats me royally too when I am sick.
Dravencat, you sure had a busy weekend, and accomplished a lot. Glad that you got permission to make that new bed between the properties, you know what one thinks is nice, someone else disdains.
Molly, gosh 47 degrees. They said we only had a low of 52 last night.
Sarv, I don't know that I ever slept 10 hours at once, even when I was a baby!!
Oz, we are too busy in the gardens to put food on the counter. Spring and Summer are help yourselves to the fridge seasons. So you enjoy horseshoes? About 5 years ago, our next door neighbor was Ky. State Champ, in the women's division. Quite the honor, and shoes are very popluar here.
Darius, be careful with the bending and lifting. Don't need to be out of commission before you get started good.
lauriewilson, if you talk to mg again, tell her I said hi!!
Bal, great gate. That arbor is gonna be very pretty with the vining things this summer.
Babs, sounds like you found a good doctor for mum. If my grandfather was still with us, your mum and he would hit it off well, as he was a baseball fanatic.
Well, gotta get moving again, so will check in later. Stay safe today.
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Good afternoon - at least here in Ottawa.
Why aren't you all in the garden? I read only what was up earlier this morning - will go back and read the rest later. Went to Weight Watchers and am officially down another 2 pounds for a total of 3.5 since I started going there. I think I was a bit lighter before the cold hit me last week but I'm not complaining.
On the way home, I swung by my favourite nursery. they are aiming to be really ready to go for this weekend and still have a lot of their plants in the back. Are working on alphabetizing their many, many hostas. I was really good and only bought two. But then I had forgotten a gift certificate I was given last year.
Gonna get lunch, check on a few hostas that had not shown up by Sunday. I found a couple more today, but didn't look at others. Then I'll play in the dirt a bit until my students start arriving at 3.
I'll probably get back later this evening.
HI everyone, I must first confess that the rain barrel system is from a DGer by the name of Beare. You can find his system on the Container Gardening forum.
I am enclosing a picture of the front barrel and you can see there is just no room for any more barrels there. Also, I am kinda vain and don't want to put more out front. We don't have a back yard, BIG gully so I am trying real hard to get the front looking nice. Thanks though for all the suggestions.
Would you believe DH just installed the 350 gallon tank by the garage up 4 feet in the air to give it some flow and has now moved on to redoing our picket fence around our veg. garden. When he decides to get busy watch out!
Must go back and read this thread skipped ahead cause I didn't want to steal Beare's glory. Got the sweetest wren right out the door singing away, hope the kitties don't catch him.
Must go either have a headache of all headaches or a toothache can't tell where the hurt is but drugs haven't helped it yet.
~~~~~~~~~to all!

WHEW! What a turbulent past hour we've had! I'm still reeling.

My sister has been searching for her biological father off and on for 40 years, often with my help on the internet. She has spent most of today running down leads and FOUND HIM! Not only that, she TALKED to him in Texas, and also a YOUNGER HALF SISTER. My sister has 3 half brothers too, although it appears 2 are from a previous relationship and they have no contact.

My sister is STILL shaking!

Hard to believe he is still alive, age 85. He did ask about our mother, and of course she told him we have mother in a jar on the LR shelf.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Wow! After a furious start to the day it really quieted down - only three more posts after mine which was 8 hours ago. I guess maybe you all DID go out to the gardens.

I've checked on my hostas and have found all but one. I have lots of that one but it's under the crocus foliage. I suspect that if I really got down and looked, I'd find it too.

Got my window boxes emptied out and the soil divided up in the bottom of my patio planters. Will fill them with new soil and finish filling the patio pots with new soil as well. Also emptied out two big pots of cannas and callas that were packed in peat moss in my cold storage area. they seem to have made it through the winter quite well. It's still a bit early to plant them outdoors. I'll try them in pots in the porch if I can find enough pots. As soon as I put them out on the patio, the squirrels will be digging in them. somebody in my neighbourhood gives peanuts to the squirrels and they bury most of them in MY garden. I regularly see them trapsing down the fence with a peanut hanging from their mouths.

Gotta go practice. Might get back a bit later.

Ann

PS Darius, it sounds as though it was a positive contact between your sister and her father. At least I hope so.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yes, Ann, it was. Now she is considering a trip to "meet" him (again) this summer. She said he sounded very mellow, as did her "new" half sister who is 49.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

The treated posts looked terrible and are getting a facelift with shingles. This is the fun part, no rules ! Half a day running into town looking for an adhesive to stick the tiles to cement backerboard, Credit Union for some cash, market for groceries, a horrible $ 31.00 fill-up at the gas station ( the most I've ever had to pay), down to the news[paper office to put an add in for my old truck, Vet's Office to have Tinkerbelle checked. She just seemed too heavy, but was OK. Found out that the Iams puppy treats have three times the fat content, and even with 4 or 5 half cookies a day he thought that might be her weight problem. Bits of Turkey Franks or chicken breast from now on. DW just got home and I aint got nuttin out fer dinner. Campbells soup and some sandwiches from leftover chicken, and maybe an avocado shouldn't be too hard.
Best wishes to all.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Wonderful to have made a contact like that and have it work out well, Darius. That isn't always the case. Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. I'm still pretty under the weather. Had a bit of yogurt this morning, and a small portion of macaroni from DH's tuna casserole I made but couldn't stand to eat. I am not fond of it even when I'm feeling ok.

On the plus side, as someone mentioned, It looks like I've lost about 8 lbs. since I weighed myself a week ago Monday, so the salad regime got me started and whatever this bug was, sent me down a bit more. Food is not really appealing, at this point.

I'm glad to hear about all the hosta and other greenery popping up, ours have started and we have one Emperor in front that needs to b e divided, and moved to a less sunny location as it gets sunburned in late summer. Need to find a spot for the three EEs I picked up, too.

Sposed to rain again tomorrow, maybe one more day of flopping around on the couch/bed etc. will get me kick started. Ugh. I can still smell the tuna................

Sheila

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Evening all,

M5, glad you're feeling somewhat better. Whether it was a stomach bug or food poisoning probably doesn't matter all that much to you --- far as I'm concerned, they're both vile! Hope you feel MUCH better tomorrow, (Glad to hear that Sammi is such a good nurse!)

Joyous, your shop looks great. Best of luck with your sales year. We've been doing fairly well so far this year. I just hope it continues since DH is making about 1/5th of what he used to make in his current job (and we're both extremely relieved that he was able to get ANY job!) There's no way we could make ends meet on the revenue from my store alone, OR from his part-time job either. I have a couple of pictures of the interior of my overcrowded store, but they're not on this computer. I may post them from the computer in my store tomorrow.

darius, glad things are working out in general for you, your sister, and "the kid". I think that it's great that your sister was able to track down her father and some siblings and got a positive response out of it. I haven't had to deal with these issues, but had a friend who spent a long time trying to track down her son who she gave up for adoption since she had him when she was all of sixteen, only to find once she had actually tracked him down, that he had died the previous year.

Wow! Robert and Oz actually posted on this date and Ernie showed up yesterday. Glad you're all still with us, guys! Robert, please don't talk about how "ugly" something you've built is before you shingle it! It looks so much better (without the shingles) than anything I'll ever manage here, that it almost doesn't bear thinking about.

sarv, welcome home! Glad you had a good time on your trip, but this place isn't the same without you, you know!

Bonnie, how are you doing? I forgot to ask whether or not you got any more goldfinches stopping by. Normally we don't see them unless we put out niger (thistle) seed or finch mix, but today I did a double-take as it seemed like I was seeing an animated dandelion. It turned out that there were three bright yellow male goldfinches under the regular bird feeder in the side yard and they were hopping around out there.

~~~~~~~~~to 101 and to anyone else that I missed. Glad that the weekend visit went so well. Your plants are so far advanced over mine due to the difference in zone that it's impossible to keep up with you. Hope all your little green babies are doing well.
It's been rainy, drizzly, cold and a bit "raw" here today, but I still managed to get a fair amount done. Broke the sod in a little square where I plan to put my new raised bed. Put a few lemon basil seedlings out --- have transplanted more of them into peat pots, so decided to risk a few outdoors. Transplanted some cucumber and butternut squash seedlings into the garden and covered them with plastic/wire hoop contraptions to keep them safe from possible frosts (of course, the ironic thing is that it's supposed to be rainy/drizzly just about all week, but I'll have to remember to water the cukes and squash, since they'll be the only things out there that DON'T get any benefit from the rain. Also spent a good portion of the day digging up nasturtiums that were coming up all over the garden and transplanting them in the sides of the garden near the fence. I now have everything except a tray of basil transplanted into individual peat pots. I should be able to transplant the plain basil soon , then have to plant some seeds for cinnamon basil, lime basil, and Genovese basil that I got from critterologist a while ago. I'm also planning on trying again with the Tequila Sunrise peppers that didn't germinate a while back. Perhaps they didn't like the "Jiffy pellets" We'll see.
Well, I meant to address everyone, but it's getting late and I'm getting tired. Oh yeah, can't leave before I tell you that my gardening "helper", Mr. Slim was finally shut out today. I made up another wire closure so that I could shut the "gate". Luckily, Sllim did not notice that the gate was made of corroded wire and that there was a giant hole in the middle of it!
So far so good as far as the greenhouse and the cold frame are concerned ----- now I'm just trying to figure out where I can put everything!
Good night everyone and I hope your dreams are sweet and that you have a restful night.
E. McCool
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Oh, M5, sure hope that another day finds you feeling lots better.
Darius, what a story. Not all those searches end up that way. Hope that she can get to meet him, and the half sister. That seems it would bring such closure for her.
Viann, great that the bulbs seemed to have survived. And getting out and finding plants, is just the greatest. I have discovered some seedlings coming up in an annual bed, and have no clue about what they are. Since it was a very mild winter, some of the annuals could have reseeded. Winter sowing without any effort!!
Bal, Campbell's and a sandwich, sounds good to me. After all, you had a very busy day. Gotta get Mr. B into see the vet next week, rabies shots etc. He loves a car ride, but he recognizes the place as soon as we pull in. Not really enthusiatic then!!
Joyous, it doesn't matter whose idea the barrels were, just be glad that you saw it and could adapt it for your use.
Well, it was another inside day for me. Still too wet to be out doing anything in the gardens. Did get a planter, which was a gift coated with polyurethane. DH needs to drill a hole in the bottom for drainage. Other than doing a load of laundry, it mostly a hum drum day.
Tomorrow is errand day, and grocery shopping. Since I am going to a RU this Saturday, need to get things fixed for the food part of it. Then I host a church meeting Thursday night. That means I an responsible for meat, bread and drink. Gonna fix a pork loin, so will get that going early Thursday.
I have wondered all day about the MIA's, DR, 101, now we know where mg is, glad to see Oz back, and Maria is too busy gardening to check in.
Well gotta go, trying to get to bed earlier, Sarv, can you send some of that extended rest this way.
Everyone, have a good night, will check in before I leave in the morning.
McCool, no I haven't had the pleasure of a revisit from the goldfinch. I did put out the thistle seed, but have had no takers. The hummers I saw earlier, must have been the scouts as I haven't seen them since.
LOL about Mr. Slim, being closed out of the garden. Probably will figure it out eventually!! And will enjoy gardening with you. Please don't put out any catmint, or cat nip, or maybe put it out somewhere you would like him to be!!
Well, gotta get to bed.
A restful night to all.
Wow, the day just got more intense!
The kid and her friend who is staying with us went for a walk 2 streets over and were the target of a drive-by shooting. Just a pellet gun apparently, although Keisha was hit on the hand and the kid has a bruise on the abdomen. I guess her sweatshirt buffered the shot. Anyway, we have had the cops, and the Fire Dept. EMS and they have taken Keisha to the hospital.
The cop left abruptly for another drive-by shooting 2 streets away, this time with a handgun. He hadn 't finished his report here so I guess he will be back.
